On extensions, the below suggest by Smith makes sense:

Don’t be surprised if Bridges signs a slightly shorter extension too. A three-year deal with a player option on Year 3 would align his deal with both Brunson’s and Anunoby’s. That’s likely appealing to both player and team. Let’s mark down something around three years and $111 million ($37 million AAV) with a player option on Year 3 as the baseline for Bridges.

Robinson’s situation is a lot trickier. He could start, with Hart shifting to a super-sub role. Or Robinson could continue to play in a high-intensity backup role. If Robinson is seen as an important backup, but a backup nonetheless, that will limit how far New York will go in an extension. Given the uncertainty in his role, but his importance to the team, a deal around $48 million over three years makes sense. That’s $16 million AAV, and the length would align with the Knicks other long-term deals.

Not exciting but would we could probably do worse than A Burks if say we are using 2 vet min slots.

Not my first choice by far but if we are in a tough spot the guy can at least get some buckets on occasion and has size, reasonable handle.

Has the NBA released the new cap numbers for 2025-26 yet?

Some combo of Deuce, Kolek, McCullar, Dadiet should cover that SG, wing bench minutes enough.

Burks can still shoot it.

Not really interested in Burks but damn that group you mention is severely underwhelming.

Some of our bench guys will be traded.

I would prefer to trade Hart but there is still value in chemistry with Brunson I guess.

Was listening to Ian Begley's putback and the way he was talking about Horford makes me think he is a serious candidate to come here

He should be. A stretch big who can play on/off with both KAT and Mitch is a huge piece for this team.

We need the same kind of player at guard as well. A bigger guard who can hit 3s, handle the ball, and play on/off with Brunson. Someone like Brogdon.

I'm in the opposite bucket, I love their potential. For backup minutes, they'll have it covered.

I gotta find that clip.

For me, this means the possibility they move Mitch. Or at least the Knicks will have the option to decide on upgrading that 5th starting position, maybe even with Deuce in tandem.

KAT, Horford, Huk, whoever is too many minutes for the 5 and backup 5.

What is more important to the Knicks: upgrade Hart (by moving him to bench) in starting lineup to strengthen the 5-out or the backup 5.

They are basically wild cards. I still think you want to have a veteran who can play 3/4 on the bench to fill your rotation out - at the cost we get that vet, if a young guy like Dadiet or MccUllar beats him out that is fine.

Right now Knicks bench has Mitch, Deuce, vet mins, rookies. Knicks are a bit land locked with the second apron and the TPMLE dangling out there.

At some point you do have to make the org decision to rely on the young kids in the way OKC and even Indiana has done over this past season and the previous one. I think that time is now.

Vet PG and C are the 2 positions I think they will grab for bench. Knicks seem to got the SG/wing covered in multiple ways.

I think the Knicks need to gauge what Mitch is going to take, Gafford just signed for 3/59m. That could be a good estimate for Mitch. Maybe a bit less since he's been injured so much. Extend him at 3/50m ish.

but the question is, if you cant extend him, do you just ride it out anyway and try to win the chip? or do you look to move him?

I think unless Huk or Naj step up big time you gotta keep him even if he leaves for nothing. because next season might be our best shot to win it all.

I would prefer to trade Hart but there is still value in chemistry with Brunson I guess.

The only time I considered moving on from Hart was when he made Luke Kornet look like Dikembe Mutombo. He looked like a toddler playing with his dad and he really doesn't have enough length or leap to make other bigs leave their feet. I love his willingness to pass. That shows good judgment. His ability to get to long rebounds is a plus. But the ability to guard him with a slow footed big just takes away KAT's advantages.

This team is flawed, but I see no reason to make a trade for the sake of change. I'd love to add Gary Trent and a mobile backup PF. Trey Lyles is coming off a down year. I'd consider pairing him with KAT again. Reclamation project.

If a really good deal for Hart popped up, I'd do it. Like Colin Sexton. Otherwise, my only change would be to move Hart out of the starting lineup. Same goes for Mitch. Love the person, but the inability to shoot a lick is just costly. I'd like to see what a new coach does with these guys, but I can't help but see Josh Hart's stats dropping under a different coach.

Brunson / Deuce
Trent / Hart
Bridges / Dadiet
OG / Lyles
KAT / Robinson

You know I gonna spin wit it

Lyles, Brogdon, Trent JR... someone decent could end up sighing for vet min, happens every season.

Think there is a room for a Jae'sean Tate, Dalano Banton, Jalen Wilson type guy on the veteran min
