my scrub of the night? mike breen.... " melo taking a shot vs a6'9 guy".... really mike? really? what the heck do you expect him to do mike? pass to the guy shooting 4-15 so he can shoot over a guy 3 inches taller than him? wow.... get breen out of here..

last but not least.. Gutsy win... GUTSY.... that is the fight I like to see...

good recap.

yeah, melo took 31 shots, but he made over 50% of them. huge huge game for melo. possibly his best since he's been here. the boston playoffs game where he had 42pts 17rebs 6ast and the knicks had NOTHING else against boston in game 2 might have been more impressive, but this one feels better.

and, i love jeremy lin, but if jeremy had had either the game today against the bulls or that game melo had against boston in the playoffs, some people on this board and working at sports illustrated would erect a monument to the guy.

melo just had one of the best games of the nba season against the best team in the east. a game that would have knocked them out of the playoffs if they lost (MIL 1/2 game back and owns the tie-breaker, knicks now a full game up) biggest win of the season.

yea, but you have to understand that lin is an underdog story.. it will always be that way...

gotta admit.. lin pretty much saved this season, so that melo's performance today actually mattered... and melo had a great game today..

Lin is getting paid peanuts and was a benchwarmer until this year where he saved our season so he deserves the praise. I love what melo is doing now but i get the feeling that melo fans want to make this melo vs lin. they play on the same team for god sakes

don't want to make this melo vs lin. i love lin. i love melo. i love the knicks. there were plenty of new posters on this board who made it about melo vs lin as lin fans before anyone else did.

i think it is horsesh!t to do that. knicks would be so much better with both of them playing well, a la Oklahoma with westbrook and durant.

if anything, by trumping up melo's game, i am responding to the haters who said he sucked and wasn't a superstar and other stupid crap like that.

melo can play on a star level at times.. but consistently is the question and can he do this with another good player sharing the load.... I think those are legit questions.. melo will have games like this.... and thank god, we neeed it...

Very true..Linsanity save the season for us..But another way u can look at it is that he also prolonged the firing of MDA....Knicks currently playing at .785 since MDA got bumped from the sidelines...Do the math, where would we be if he was fired sooner than later...

had he gotten fired sooner and we still had an injured melo and amare, who knows if we still would have been in the race.. Lin worked great with dantoni who did an excellent job getting lin and the other role players to play his style and do it effectively..

also, keep in mind that melo and some of the other players played a hand in dantoni not winning more games.. had they put in the effort who knows?

that, to me, is a total cop out.

MDA did not have this team playing winning basketball. period.

woodson has them as the #1 rated defense in the league since he took over. overall, they've climbed from 11th best defense to 5th as of this morning - for the whole season. when was the last the knicks had a top 5 defensive team? i'll wager not since JVG was here.

the ingredients were there for MDA, he just tried to force them into the wrong recipe.

woodson is getting the team to play a brand of basketball that accentuates their skillsets, not trying to force melo to be shawn marion and then shrugging when it doesn't work.

if MDA were still here, all we'd be hearing about is how Lin went down so the season is over. instead, woodson has beaten Mil, Orlando twice and the Bulls since Lin went out.

you could argue that if Woodson had been the coach since day 1 of this season, the knicks might have a chance to win the division and get homecourt in the first round.

Breen is tight with MDA...Who is also very tight with Michael Kay(both went to Fordham and speak of it often) who you hear saying the exact same thing Breen says...You almost think its orchestrated...

Breen is tight with MDA

i LOVED how JVG called breen on some of it. his argument that melo was not taking bad shots was great. i think Breen may have actually influenced some of the melo haters here. breen is really hard on melo, he has a clear bias against him.

look, i understand having a bias against melo - the knicks gave up too much in the trade to get him. but fans need to understand, that was dolan who did that. not melo.

melo has played injured and played hard and well for this team. he is a very good player and he's trying to make the right plays and playing hard. he didn't do it for MDA, partly because he was injured and partly because MDA wanted to give the keys of the team to Lin (when, really, all MDA needed to do was make an offense that featured LIN AND MELO - is that too much to ask?). MDA didn't seem to have a problem with Melo playing Melo-ball the first game of the season where he beat Boston single-handedly on Christmas Day, did he?

If you hear Breen call Lakers games, you would think it's a completely different announcer the way he praises Kobe and the "tough" shots he takes...

I like Breen and think he's pretty fair mostly. But he's REALLY tough on Melo. I think Breen is as big a Knicks fan as anyone though. He wants them to succeed.

hey, we all have our biases. i just loved hearing JVG call him on it.

Breen criticizing Melo for taking a shot against a 6'9" guy when a 6'9" guy had been guarding him all game and Melo himself is 6'8" and guarding that same 6'9" guy on the other end.

i was so glad to hear JVG call him on it. one reason i think JVG would make an excellent coach of this team, but i am thrilled with woodson so far.

Really???...And some of those games had nothing to do with the level of the competition??...I honestly can't make a call on it...It was a bad hire many moons ago...We are better without him now..Keep this in mind, MDA benched Chandler in the 4th quarter against Boston and Dallas in consecutive games...Can't blame that on Melo...

yeah, melo took 31 shots, but he made over 50% of them. huge huge game for melo. possibly his best since he's been here. the boston playoffs game where he had 42pts 17rebs 6ast and the knicks had NOTHING else against boston in game 2 might have been more impressive, but this one feels better.

and, i love jeremy lin, but if jeremy had had either the game today against the bulls or that game melo had against boston in the playoffs, some people on this board and working at sports illustrated would erect a monument to the guy.

melo just had one of the best games of the nba season against the best team in the east. a game that would have knocked them out of the playoffs if they lost (MIL 1/2 game back and owns the tie-breaker, knicks now a full game up) biggest win of the season.

yea, but you have to understand that lin is an underdog story.. it will always be that way...

gotta admit.. lin pretty much saved this season, so that melo's performance today actually mattered... and melo had a great game today..

I maybe wrong but I think the Knicks had already reached that mark THIS year before MDA resigned. 5th best in defense that is. Or was it 7th can't really remember.

I got to agree with this 100%. MDA did not adapt. Woodson is doing a helluva job. Glad to see we have a real team, with real leaders (Tyson and Melo).

What a remarkable win. I was astounded by the heroics. If only Smith wasn't such a chucker.

GREAT WIN for the KNICKS today! I loved it! YEEEAAAHHHH!!!

They gutted it out after losing a 1st half lead and MELO... Man.... Hell yeah he did his thing, dropping 43 on Da Bulls, and Shump and Chandler got busy too.

Much props to the team and to Coach Woodson for helping instill defensive intensity and a killer instinct into this team.

GO KNICKS!!! Yes, twas a happy Easter indeed!

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

AGAIN, tyson chandler has been a leader all year.. melo has not been a leader, the guy admitted he didn't play hard for dantoni.. Dantoni as we all know is a limited coach, but when given the pieces, he will succeed, as he has shown before in phoenix and to some extent last year before the trade... really, I don't see how you can sit here and say that had dantoni been fired we would have been in better position now.... really? How is that the case? how do we know that woodson would have even played lin or turned the keys over to the kid... again, had our so called leader had played hard from day 1 for dantoni maybe we would not be trying to fend off the bucks for the 8th spot...
