![]() Posted by TMS: Super Mario is a playmaker. I think Hixon has the ability to be one but it is different when teams gameplan against you. I think the Giants should definately think about MLB and WR during this draft. I like Pierce but gives up the big play too much for my taste. If it isn't the speedy running back it is the sure TE like Whitten. I would like a stud in the LB position. I like Britt a lot and think he would be a perfect pairing with Manning. Speaking of Eli, why don't the Gilbride call for more of Eli downfield plays. Eli throws one of the best deep balls I seen. I miss the play action plays. I guess when you have the Giants running game you don't have to rely on the deep ball too much. I guess I am still fuming at the game so I could be overreacting. ![]() Posted by Pharzeone:Posted by TMS: I think the wind was a huge factor in why they didn't throw the ball downfield today. In general they are able to move the ball up and down the field without taking as many shots deep, so they don't have to take those shots. Throwing it deep = greater risk for turnovers, so they take more measured chances with it. Still I was a little surprised why they didn't try the play to Hixon one more time later. Though they had only one drive with the wind at their backs in the 2nd half. In the draft MLB and LB should be first priority, followed by depth at DT, OL and offensive weaponry |

![]() Posted by Pharzeone:Posted by TMS: i think the swirling winds had a lot to do w/the deep calls today... we had a perfect shot early in the game Hixon just couldn't come down w/the ball... i do agree they shoulda taken another shot in the 2nd half tho, but seemed like the wind started to pick up more later on. i remember whenever i would go to a Giants game the past couple years & watch Plax trying to be covered 1 on 1, he would be open on every single damn route... i used to scream at Eli to throw the deep ball to Plax on the out routes cuz there was no way anyone was gonna cover Plax 1 on 1 on an out route if the ball was in his vicinity. i wanna draft a tall explosive WR & some OLB help... i think Pierce is still good at MLB for another couple years (unless he gets thrown in jail over this whole Plax thing obviously), & i like what i've seen out of Blackburn in short stints... he reminds me a lot of Gary Reasons... maybe not as good of a play recognizer obviously but that comes w/experience... i think where we get hurt alot is by TE's & backs on the short flat patters & seam routes on coverage... we could use some more speed in our LBing corps. ![]() Romo just threw an INT Return for a TD to Townsend of PIT! 20-13 w/less than 2 min to play... we might have this division wrapped up after this game.

![]() Looks like the Giants are looking to acquire Anquan Boldin in the offseason... Gary Myers knows his **** too.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/2008/12/06/2008-12-06_giants_could_make_anquan_boldin_move_to_.html Plaxico Burress has left the Giants and Eli Manning without a No. 1 receiver for the rest of the season and perhaps beyond. What is a quality quick fix to this problem? Trade a first-round pick and a little more for Arizona's Anquan Boldin, who was unhappy the Cardinals didn't upgrade his contract before this season and could be even unhappier if they turn their back on him again. When the Giants signed Burress to a five-year deal in September worth a maximum of $35 million, they had a right to expect at least three more productive seasons. Now, if Burress winds up in jail, the next pass he catches might be from Michael Vick after a play-action fake to O.J. Simpson. Regardless of the outcome of his legal problems, it seems unlikely Burress will ever play for the Giants again. So, where do they go to replenish their wideouts? The first step will be re-signing Amani Toomer, who will be a free agent after the season. He will be 35 next season, but he is still an excellent complementary receiver who benefitted from the double-teams Burress attracted. The Giants have thrived taking second-round receivers, with Toomer in 1996 and Sinorice Moss, Steve Smith and Mario Manningham in the last three drafts. But Moss is 5-8 and Smith and Manningham are 5-11. The Giants need a big, physical receiver. Domenik Hixon steps into Burress' spot, but he looks more like a No. 2 receiver once Toomer retires. There are three ways the Giants can attempt to get a go-to wideout: Trades: Boldin said in training camp the Cardinals lied to him about upgrading his four-year $22.75 million contract, which has two years at $2.75 million and $3 million left after this season. His deal is invisible compared to the four-year $40 million deal - with $30 million guaranteed - the Cards gave to Larry Fitzgerald in the offseason. Boldin is 6-1, 217, four inches shorter than Burress, but he's a physical receiver who never drops a pass. He might be the toughest player in the NFL. He missed only two games (the bye was in there, too) after needing eight plates inserted to repair two fractures in his face after the horrific hit by Eric Smith at the end of the loss to the Jets. He also suffered a concussion and needed to have his jaw realigned. And he's just 28. "He's outstanding," one GM said. "A great guy." Like Burress, he is represented by Drew Rosenhaus and, as another GM said, "Drew has been known to get people traded." The GM said, "Anquan is close to a No. 1 receiver. He would make your receiving group better. But is he Randy Moss or T.O. or Marvin Harrison? No. Is he Fitzgerald? No. This is the next level up." "OMG - did we just go on a two-trade-wining-streak?" -SupremeCommander

![]() They have extra picks- I'd be shocked if they don't at least get involved for Boldin, but I wouldn't bank on it. Myers hasn't been a very good writer. The best beat guy is Garafalo without a doubt.

![]() i like Boldin but as a replacement for Toomer... i still say this team needs a big tall WR to give this offense that added dimension... i would wanna draft one whether we traded for Boldin or not.
