the OG trade was tough to swallow for me, because RJ & IQ are both really good. And OG is always hurt. But it was also that I didn't think it left us enough assets for a true star.

So to turn around and get KAT & Mikal months later is really impressive. I think we overpaid for Mikal, but underpaid for KAT.

I can argue we overpaid for both, and in the same breath say I agree with these moves. Sometimes when timing is a key variable (JBs prime years is now), you have to over pay to get what you want. With that said, Leon is a genius with cap management, regardless of the over or under pay. He’s always setting this franchise up with short term and long term strategies in check.

Will be fun to watch:
1. KAT exceed defensive expectations
2. Deuce growth as a 6th man impact player
3. Thibs rotation and minutes distribution

I think Keith is behind or associated with the Spotrac site. They put out very good salary info https://www.spotrac.com/nba/new-york-knicks/yearly

I think we know why they paid so much for Bridges now. One of the cap reporter guys was saying obne of the reasons why we are able to avoid the penalties is because Bridges contract. Its small and the way everything works that allows us to dip under the penalty line for a season before we go back over because of that. So the chances for us to be able to get a young player that talented with that type of contract that is on the trade block is extremely low. So we had to overpay for it.

YES! That is part of the [over]pay. You are really paying for something else.

it's what irks me about how this stuff is reported. This league has a much tighter cap now and it's successfully forcing parity at the top. Bridge's contract is one of the most cap friendly in the league attached to an all star caliber player.

Yeah, I don’t think Mikal was ever on the trade block. The Knicks persistence in not taking no for an answer finally paid off. You could say the say for the KAT trade. Neither player was shopped.

Alternately, the Knicks resisted bidding wars when OG was being shopped and then swooped in when no one was expecting a trade. Toronto didn’t get any of those FRP’s that other teams were offering.

Preserving our pick assets in the OG and Bogdanovic trades led to the Bridges trade. The creativity in Bridges trade led to the small amount of wiggle room needed in the KAT trade. Gersson Rosas appears to be a huge pick up in the FO as well.

Rose - the relationship guy
Rosas - the executive experience
Brock Aller - is like Moses parting the Red Sea navigating the CBA

People have a really disturbing idea of what “soft” really is. This is a really impressive story and it goes along with many others that we’ve read throughout this process. We also see him wrestling Embiid and things like that and I really question everyone’s idea of him.

But then I see our team, see how all of them have been overlooked and made fun of and I understand that they all represent New York, that grind and fight while the rest just talk trash.

Welcome to New York, KAT! I believe you are the last significant piece to achieve something quite historic.

KAT, OG, MIkal,Hart and Brunson

in such a short span, and not only that, but these guys locked in for 4 years together. We were worried about paying Randle and IQ.

Does this include Mikal?

We will be facing same Randle, Obi, OQ issue next year?
