We see this over and over. Look at Disney? Biggest employer in Florida and they come out and say they support its gay employees and Desantis goes off.
Hobby Lobby bans birthcontrol to its employees and they labeled as awful.
Chick Fil la, a private company supports conservative groups and got slammed for it.
Public corp. have an obigation to shareholders to protect its business. Employees want to know where its leadership stands.
I get why they must remain neutral.
Im not upset that Washington post stays neutral, perhaps they can maintain journalistic integrity by doing so.
Quite frankly I cannot turn on Fox news for 10 min without getting my blood boiling by the editorial slant. Cnn is devoted to slamming GOP and little is learned from it.

These recent decisions effectively mark the end of the "fourth estate." I would rather see a newspaper shutdown than be forced to turn it's face at what it perceives is the truth. The Post has posted editorials and columnists from people who are obviously full of it the past few years. Now to punt on what has been one of the duties newspapers has carried for centuries is a sign of cowardism. Bozo knew the responsibilities owning the Post would carry. There's an implied separation between the corporate and editorial. He should've purchased a PR rag if this was the route he wanted to go. What's next? No more Erick Adams coverage for fear of repercussions. Maybe tone it down on the McDonald's listeria coverage because they're a major advertiser. Freedom of the press, whether it's freedom from the government or corporate interests, is one of the best defenses of tyranny.

Even this POS paper had the guts to give an endorsement. I don't agree with it and have rarely read anything inside it. But at least their editorial board put it's crappy POV out their for the world to see.

The guardrails of democracy are falling off and some of it is on the road already. Fox has lead the way and NYTimes, LATimes and WasPost just took a giant step in that direction.

That is the antithesis of neutrality or journalistic integrity.

I think you are ignoring the huge rise in popularity Trump has had amongst black men and Hispanics. His economic arguments are the key here.

Globalization has worked both ways. Yes manufacturing jobs moved overseas but a lot also came here to the US. Mercedes Benz’s biggest factory in the world is in Alabama. Hyundai’s biggest factory is in South Carolina. There was a huge Honda plant right by where I used to live in Indiana. We are at 4% unemployment now - basically anyone who wants a job can get one and get a job that pays fairly well and that applies to non-college educated Americans as well.

We live in a world were MAGA cult exists. Social media exists. Twitter exists, etc etc.
news papers are dying and like most businesses they are not going back.
If a paper endorses, gets boycotted then there is one less watchdog of democracy to report what is going on at many levels.
I subscribe to my city paper online but mostly so they can continue. Also The NY Times.

Trump did a long-planned interview with former athlete and current podcaster Joe Rogan, who has been critical of Vice President Kamala Harris.

But a few moments stood out to observers, including one in which Rogan appeared to be laughing at Trump as he accidentally admitted that he lost the 2020 election.

Harris' campaign promoted a clip from the interview in which Rogan seems to be laughing at the former president."

"Trump: I lost by like-- I didn't lose. Rogan: *laughs at him*," the campaign wrote.

The video shows Trump saying, "I don't believe it's this much, but it doesn't matter."

"I won by like-- I lost by like-- I didn't lose, but--" Trump adds before Rogan laughs out loud. "Joe, they say I lost by 22,000 votes."

Artist Art Candee responded to that clip, saying, "Trump is a global embarrassment."

Popular liberal influencer Spiro’s Ghost said, "Joe Rogan asked Donald Trump for specifics on how 2020 was stolen. Then could only laugh at the answer."

Former NBC executive Mike Sington summed up that part of the interview:

“'Are you going to present this ever?' Joe Rogan gives Trump the opportunity to prove his false claim that the 2020 election was stolen, he can’t and instead pivots to Hunter Biden’s laptop. In a classic moment, Trump slips and says 'I lost', and Joe Rogan laughs in his face."

Former Republican lawmaker Denver Riggleman also chimed in on the interview:

"I never expected it: I think [Rogan] brings down Trump," Riggleman said. "Donald’s inability to comprehend and answer questions outside of his ever decompensating weave was on display to millions of 'bros'. Any man listening to that had to be thinking that DT is on the way to 'gone.'"

Harris' official campaign also shared another video with several potentially embarrassing clips from the Rogan interview, labelling it a "trainwreck."
