Great first half of game one.

This feels like like a series that might get ran back next season…

Matt Sullivan interview……

Did anyone take the nearly one hour to listen? Damning it was also gave some depth to Kyrie which i was glad to understand a bit. Kyrie is not a generational changing personality but he is absorbing the times and feeling it while maintaining a high end career. His reasons for leaving Boston as depicted was fascinating and genuine.
At the same time KD seems to be hoop obsessed stoner which one has to admire his talent. KD only flaw is his thin skinned pushbacks. other than that he is portrayed as a not so interesting guy who might be a bit one dimensional is dedicated to his craft.

I won’t read this book but from the interview its not a simple hit job at taking down these superstars.

Funny that Kobe has so many fans now postpartum. I discussed this a few years ago that many of us fail to see these guys do evolve over time. Lebron is not the same person he was at 20 and has shouldered what it takes to lead teams , is a family man, and does not shy away from stating his opinion. Its not that I agree or not with it but admire him using his platform to voice it. Naturally we tilt to Jordan who took a far more corporate path. That was also a different era to be fair. Kobe was a brash difficulty kid, teammate, son, and husband, and rapist. That he evolved into what he became was impressive. If you don’t keep an open mind to it you won’t see it. Some of you see Lebron the bad GM and floppier and hate him for that. SOme only saw Kobe as the rapist or the incredible hoop he performed. We often don’t see the person growing up.
Kyrie is fascinating and this interview gave us a peek into what makes him tick. I’m not saying t pushed me to fandom or away from being a hater. I don’t have to be thumbs up or down on everyone.
Sullivan’s take on KD was a bit more surprising as one might have thought the paradox of his desire for privacy yet takes his beefs public might reveal more depth. He flat out says he is boring with his obsession to hoop and get high. Maybe that endears me to him a bit more? LOL. I do hate his tweets. Same for Rappaport.
Am I glad they are not Knicks? That they did not succeed this season might make them more interesting as we all hate a prefabricated starphuch allstar lead team. Miami failed its first run of the “Heatles” and perhaps after “enjoying that” I appreciated the runs they made after they stoped pushing back on Spolestra and played defense. Then to watch the speed by which they filled the passing lanes and converted that to points was great basketball. IM a fan of the game and when its played at a high level I put the personalities aside.
People hated Jabbar for his views and expressing them. Same for BIll Russell, Muhammmad Ali, Abdul Rauf and Kapernick. ,. There are many others. It has dawned on me that in a way Kyrie expressing himself is different than other athletes. That he is a high level player is why he gets away with it. He is empowered which makes him hated. He could play for the Celtics but not the city of Boston. Maybe when his career is over things might change and thus how we might view him. We have for the athletes I just mentioned. I’ll keep an open mind.

Chips and respect are earned on the court. Watching Lebron and the Cavs vs the 2016 version of the GSW record breaking season coming back from 1-3 was really a feat to be appreciated. Over the years I had to learn I could not just live and breath with knicks because the failures. Winning is the outcome of a great journey. If that journey is not to happen I have to find interest in others.

Yes, From a basketball stance I would have liked KD and Kyrie as knicks. The rest of the noise perhaps not. That KD came back as he did is a feat to be respected. It happened on the court. Let’s not forget he came back to play in the finals and perhaps his heal was unsteady which is why he tore it. he did that in the face of free agency. Did we all forget this? KD first is a basketball player and he put it all to risk by coming back and then tore his heel. That he is a empty thin skinned personality to be made into a villain is someone’s choice is understandable. But look at what he did on the court. That he was last “Star” standing and executed what he did in game 7. One toe away and hits a buzzer shot to tie the game. One toe back that game, that shot, that goes down as one of the top 10 playoff performances of all time. Maybe non finals performances.
I watched the game with a knick fan friend. We both sat back and said “WOW”!!!!!! They were cooked and lost the game but it was not about the billboard outside the garden (That was done under different ownership BTW, and lets be real, Its not Ike Dolan is someone we are proud of!), it was great basketball drama.

Thats what I crave most as a knick fan. Great basketball games that are meaningful!!!!

I thought most of the Kyrie and KD stuff was ho hum. I never saw them in terms of black and white to begin with. But the fact that players and management are scared to interact with them is kind of damning. It makes you wonder what kind of leadership exists in the locker room. That dynamic seems shaky.

Perhaps. But its the play on the floor. They only plays 8 games all three together and Harden really should not have been playing. That said, I’m only looking at the play on the court. Nash was very good for this team and perhaps kept the team focused.
No doubt its a very strange roster constructed. I’d have liked to see them win or lose with a full healthy roster. The drama more intense that way.

Kaminsky their third big is their worst player. They are going to have to get creative. Probably stagger the minutes so if Ayton is sitting CP3 and Booker are in and attacking the opposing big. Flipside the bucks should go small and try to get Brook time in as the only center on the floor. If they can hide him from CP3 and Booker defensively he can do some damage on the offense when Ayton’s out.

On the low Jrue got to step his game up cause I can’t see them hiding Brook on the defense unless Jrue locksdown CP3 or Booker 1 on 1.

WOW! Saric's energy-performance in the Suns postseason Journey to the FINALS will be missed in the Suns Game-3, and Game-4 rotation in the FINALS. More work for Ayton & Crowder on the defensive-end defending Giannis/Lopez/Middleton inside scoring at Home.

Some of this stuff sounds like they are breaking the rules. Teams can’t give player’s money outside of their contracts. At least not as described in this book. I wonder if the league will investigate?

Lol, ugh no.

I knew all along they were jerking around Dolan and Perry. There was no way they were ever coming here.

And tbh if the nets don’t win the title next year (they won’t) I can see this entire thing falling apart. Kyrie cannot stay anywhere more than 3 years due to his mental health issues and Durant and Harden are aging divas

I think 95% of NBA fans would agree with this. Really you did not “Know” they were jerking Knicks around.
They never disavowed what the media created based on KD’s agent insinuations. They really did not jerk knicks around. The world could not fathom Nets would do what they did.

What you KNEW is it was too good to be true and suspicious about it. Knicks were to pay a guy 35mm to sit for a year. That is dubious plan and hard to digest. We all knew it but there was the media pounding what was a passive smoke screen by Jeff Kleinman who professed to being a knick fan and the rumor got carried on his own.

As it stands the quotes by Magic and others about “Knicks are a destination” is likely a bit carried away?
Not many players are free and thus would move the dial. But we’ll be angry if none come?

How did Team USA not pick Trae Young? They need someone who can set up all those scorers.

He has yet to make an allstar team. His star only rose this year.

I thought they were still forming the team while the playoffs were still going on. I remember they picked Love and Grant over Randle during the playoffs. I also remember hearing about confirmations of players going/not going during the playoffs.

I want these refs for the NBA. I would be more interested in watching other games than Knicks game if they did. This is beautiful and promotes real basketball and will cut out all the flops.

I would love to see the olympics expose every flopper and flailer. The NBA needs a wake up call.

If we don’t get a medal, so be it.
