i loved brackins in college. i thought he would make a great pro...like a m. speights 2.0...i dont know what happened to him
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Me too. Good comparison with Speights. Probably even a little more elusive with a better handle & an even better overall offensive game. The Brackins I remember really was a dynamite offensive player! Something closer to Al Harrington maybe at that height (6'9"-6'10") with the same 3 dimensional offense game -- shoot with range (including 3s), put it on the floor and post. Read before that he and his buddy Christian Eyenga both signed on to play in Poland this year..

Not too many good SFs left out there -- RonRon has mentioned James Johnson. He could be an option. Maybe a guy like Sam Young on the cheap. Liked him a lot at Pitt. I've always liked former Arizona Wildcat Jamelle Horne. That guy's a very athletic 6'7" 220, can play the 2 or the 3, can shoot it well from deep and defend. He could be a real good role player in the NBA if ever given a chance..

Still, there have been other players brought in that haven't been as worthy of a shot. From local products like Brownlee and SUNY Farmingdale's A.J. Matthews, to a couple of guys that are friendly with Coach Mike Woodson's family (like Sean May and/or Eloy Vargas), one has to wonder if time is being well spent as the team approaches training camp.
From Knicks journal. Interesting what Schlosser says about Woodson's relationship to May and Vargas when discussing guys the Knicks have worked out/brought in.

So the Heat added Greg Oden AND Michael Beasley...Wow. Obvious question marks with both guys but man, if that works out for them -- even one out of the 2 guys...Look out. As if they weren't a formidable opponent already..

Greg Oden has had 3 micro fracture surgeries and hasn't played in years. He isn't going to make a magical comeback. Same with Bynum- don't know why the media were so convinced either of those two were going to become magically healed.

Beasley is awful- nice highlights on youtube, yes, but awful in an actual team and game concept.

i beg to differ, doctor:

greg oden's problem was his alcohol abuse, which did not allow his body to heal properly,

if it is true what we read, that he has kicked the bottle, then be ready for a comeback that will surprise many people,

it's one thing to get injured, it's another thing to sabotage your body's recovery with heavy drink;

The alcohol didn't help, but his injuries were the main issue- here is a timeline:

Year One:
-Before he ever played an NBA game, Greg Oden had season-ending microfracture surgery on his right knee.

Year two:
-Knee-to-knee contact with Corey Maggette led to an injured knee cap on February 12 and the big man missed more than a month of action. He wasn't the same after returning, failing to record a single double-double during the rest of his rookie season.

Year Three:
-When Aaron Brooks hit a floater over Oden's outstretched arms in a game against the Rockets on December 5th, he inadvertently injured the big man. Again. Just 21 games into the season.

A fractured left patella kept him out for the remainder of what could have become his breakout season.

Year Four:
-In an injury that was unrelated to the patella he fractured in December of 2009, Oden had another microfracture surgery in November of 2010, one that ended his 2010-11 season before it even began.

Year Five:
-He stayed out of the news until 2011, when it was expected that he'd be playing for the $8.9 million qualifying offer in 2011-12. However, he suffered a setback in the rehab process and restructured his contract as acting general manager Chad Buchanan had some concerns about Oden's ability to play.

Then in Feb:
-He had arthroscopic surgery on each knee during a three-week span in February of 2012 and the latter surgery turned into the third microfracture procedure of his career.

You think he's coming back from all that?!

He hasn't played in 4 years and he isn't allowed to practice in contact situations. The odds are stacked pretty high against him. The alcohol couldn't have helped but his issues are with the surgeries.
