how tall? how big?

video highlights look great...but anything less than 6-9 is no good in the nba

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I would love to add Delfino. I think he'd be a perfect fit. Taking into account how much I would like to have him on the Knicks it won't happen.

I don't see how we still have room for another SG/SF on our roster- just like that Josh Howard tweet (interested teams: Utah, IND, GS, BK and NY) doesn't really make any sense either. I still think the last roster spot goes to someone who can play PF.

Also Sonny Weems has signed a 3 year deal with a Moscow team.

Kenneth Faried is 6'6 playing PF and another undersized player is Dejuan Blairre.

We do not have a player that can team up with Chandler/Camby at the PF spot, to add to our Rebounding/Defense/Shot blocking to anchor our defense.
Whether Camby/Chandler can coexist together at PF and Center vs some of the spread 4's that are also athletic would be a question.

We still don't have a 2nd penetration threat and a player that can defend the twenners like Durant/Lebron/Kevin Love/ Dirk/ etc.

I think Flight and Kurt Thomas are both dead weight, as we need to add more versatile players with these roster spots.
Especially with the addition of Brewer and if we sign Goodridge, while adding a player that has the ability to penetrate and a "tweener" that would match up better vs Lebron/Durant/Love Etc....

We currently only have 1 roster spot left, while 2 are inactive with Iman for start of the season.
Copeland contract isn't guaranteed, so it can be possibly 2 roster spots.

A big reason why we would probably sign Goodridge over a vet min player is because we can claim players off waivers during the season, without giving up guaranteed money.
It looks like he can help our defense/rebounding/ and shot blocking. If he can improve our ability to rebound, it gives us 2nd chance points *reason why Bulls had the best record last year*, as well as allowing us to initiate fast breaks for easy/high % points. Judging from the clip, he also can finish on the fast break with alley hoops and has some post up game, in addition to what he brings on the defensive side.
I can see him being our poor version of Taj Gibson.

http://www.theknicksblog.com/2011/05/26/prospect-look-vernon-goodridge/

If you go to draftexpress it has the name Vernon Goodridge listed as the #30 overall prospect in the D-League with some unimpressive stats. He’s behind bigger names like former Net Sean Williams, Nick Fazekas, Courtney Sims, who the Knicks brought into camp, and Jermareo Davidson. If you asked me what the difference between those players are I would tell you simply “not much.” You can search full game videos on the D-League site to give you a better idea of what Goodridge can do here seeing that everyone looks good in a highlight reel.

I was really adamant about obtaining Williams, who we knew was available when he was a Net, but he most certainly didn’t take advantage of his NBA opportunity and will be lucky to get another. The point is, the Knicks still have that need to fill.

Goodridge’s name was mentioned in a NY Post article during the season and again last week by Hahn, who made the great point that the Knicks should be on the lookout for cheap, veteran players like they did back in the 1990s with Starks and Mason. Guys with heart and energy.

I was constantly asked to write about Vernon, a 6’9 athletic freak with a 7’3 wingspan and 35 plus inch vertical by his people. He’s a Brooklyn kid who spent time in the D-League last year after having an impressive showing in Golden State’s camp. I told them I don’t want to write anything until I saw him live.

Last night I did.

Honestly, I was expecting to be unimpressed and I came away thinking that Goodridge can play in the NBA. In today’s NBA. It is clear that most NBA executives are on the hunt for players like Serge Ibaka, long, lean forward/centers who can run the floor and guard the rim. It seems that the days of the post up 7-footers are coming to an end. Every big man has to be able to run, shoot and pick and roll, and not just if they play for Mike D’Antoni.

The Knicks have a particular need up front. They need someone who can play with Amar’e and Carmelo, and they could use someone off the bench who can play with either of them. I think from a defensive standpoint, Goodridge is a good option from what I saw. He has great footwork, excellent hands and anticipation and foot speed for someone of his size. He’s not a space eater, but he’s more adapted to the league than, say, an Earl Barron.

I know those anti-D’Antoni fans will doubt that he’ll see the court even if he does impress the Knicks, who have invited to bring him to their June 8th big man workout and that may be fair. But no one remembers that Pat Riley wasn’t in a rush to play Mason or Starks minutes either. They fought and earned them.

The team needs cheap big players up front and will also see what they have in Jerome Jordan. Goodridge is 27 and is hungry for a taste of the league and he’s more seasoned than anyone the Knicks could bring in via next month’s draft and that is a fact. People like to talk about the upside of a Jeremy Tyler, but who knows if he’s able to contribute at the NBA level. But hey, at least he has professional experience.

Goodridge is an NBA body and someone that if I were in charge I’d take an extremely hard look at and invite him to camp right away before another team scoops him up. Getting a job in the league is about the timing of the opportunity more so than anything, and Goodridge is in the best shape of his life and has been improving every year evident in his counter post moves and his developing range with his jumper than extends out to 15-feet with elbow angles. Good, high release and rotation.

Stay tuned.

add in Belinelli and Radmanovic. They know DRose out for the year so they have literally conceded the 2012-13 season. 1 year deals.

I think Shump could come back in January. Not sure about Rose. I hope Shump doesn't rush back. I wonder if his opening night injury eventually led to his injury in the playoffs.

wait, Hump got a $12M per contract!?

And to think, that's only the fourth worst contract Brooklyn took on this offseason. Joe Johnson $90M over 4 years, Brook Lopez $60M over 4 years, and Gerald Wallace $40M over 4 years are all much, much worse. At least Humphries' contract is only for 2 years.

And yet they seem to be getting nothing but praise- if we had signed the same players to the same deals, we would be a laughing stock.

It's like when you read the offseason reviews/grades, and the same writer will say: Ray Allen- great signing! Steve Nash- great signing! Jason Kidd and Marcus Camby- oh! They're old! The Knicks just got older! They're 40 years old! Ray Allen and Steve Nash are old too, and could just as easily be washed up in a season or two.

Jason Kidd and Marcus Camby aren't the same level player as Ray Allen and Steve Nash. I do like those two signings for the Knicks, but Nash and Allen are coming off All-star years.

As far as the Nets go, Johnson is a terrible contract, but if you have to trade for Johnson to re-sign Deron, you do it. Wallace's contract is too long, but Humphries is worth 12 million a year (I'd rather have Humphries at 12 than Stat at 20 right now), Lopez gets the same money as Hibbert because that's market value and the Nets can trade those guys and take more salaries from Orlando in a Howard trade in December, assuming he's still with the Magic then. The big money is a means to an end here.

Jodie Meeks to the Lakers for a portion of the MMLE $3mil over 2yrs. So this means they only have $1.5mil left of the MMLE, I think. This is relevant to us as they are reportedly interested in K-Mart. They could also pay Lou Amundson slightly more than us too.

Also Jermain O'Neil signs with the Suns for $1.5mil. Can't believe he's still in the league- I honestly don't remember seeing him actually play for a team rather than being injured for about the past 5yrs.

Jorts gets cut by Houston to make room for Delfino.

So Houston wanted both Jorts/Jordan, just to screw us/limit us from making more trades, when we aren't even in their division.
