2) tyson chandler all of the hustle plays and defense... the tip outs on that winning possession were huge

3) No excuses.. play with what you have.. no amare, no lin.. Ok, you can compete, you have chandler, melo, smith, shump, we have guys that can win.. again, what are your expectations... honestly for me, I expected this win!!

4) JR finally hit a few big shots in OT..

5) Melo... I have to give it up, guy made all the big shots, all of them, played like a star player today.. answered the bell when we needed.. Yea, he took 31 shots, but we needed it, we had guys bricking.. I only noticed a few forced shots, but again, he was hitting the open man and they were missing...

6) hey I guess things really don't change.. rose choked at memphis at the FT line, he choked today...
Melo delivered in big games at cuse , he delivers again.. LOL.. ok, Ok, I know it is a stretch, but I love how it played out.... haha

my scrub of the night? mike breen.... " melo taking a shot vs a6'9 guy".... really mike? really? what the heck do you expect him to do mike? pass to the guy shooting 4-15 so he can shoot over a guy 3 inches taller than him? wow.... get breen out of here..

last but not least.. Gutsy win... GUTSY.... that is the fight I like to see...

good recap.

yeah, melo took 31 shots, but he made over 50% of them. huge huge game for melo. possibly his best since he's been here. the boston playoffs game where he had 42pts 17rebs 6ast and the knicks had NOTHING else against boston in game 2 might have been more impressive, but this one feels better.

and, i love jeremy lin, but if jeremy had had either the game today against the bulls or that game melo had against boston in the playoffs, some people on this board and working at sports illustrated would erect a monument to the guy.

melo just had one of the best games of the nba season against the best team in the east. a game that would have knocked them out of the playoffs if they lost (MIL 1/2 game back and owns the tie-breaker, knicks now a full game up) biggest win of the season.

yea, but you have to understand that lin is an underdog story.. it will always be that way...

gotta admit.. lin pretty much saved this season, so that melo's performance today actually mattered... and melo had a great game today..

Very true..Linsanity save the season for us..But another way u can look at it is that he also prolonged the firing of MDA....Knicks currently playing at .785 since MDA got bumped from the sidelines...Do the math, where would we be if he was fired sooner than later...

Lin is getting paid peanuts and was a benchwarmer until this year where he saved our season so he deserves the praise. I love what melo is doing now but i get the feeling that melo fans want to make this melo vs lin. they play on the same team for god sakes

don't want to make this melo vs lin. i love lin. i love melo. i love the knicks. there were plenty of new posters on this board who made it about melo vs lin as lin fans before anyone else did.

i think it is horsesh!t to do that. knicks would be so much better with both of them playing well, a la Oklahoma with westbrook and durant.

if anything, by trumping up melo's game, i am responding to the haters who said he sucked and wasn't a superstar and other stupid crap like that.

why would you fire a coach when he wins 8 of 9 with a depleted roster, Now I like woodson a hell of a lot more than mike but remember its ok to root for lin and melo they will be important for the next few years

This team has heart they never gave up and Melo is clutch it's not even a question. Mike Breen really pissed me off bashing Melo's shot selection and yet Derek Rose took alot of bad shots and shot 8-26 yet Breen was praising him as if he shot 20 for 20 and not once said anyting about his shot selection, I am just glad Jeff Van Gundy put him in his place. Great win hopefully they can go to Chicago and do it again!

knicks 11-3 under woodson now, with some big wins against eastern playoffs teams:

1 vs PHI
2 vs IND
2 vs ORL
1 vs CHI
1 vs MIL (not in the playoffs, but a game back, so a huge eastern playoff game for this team)

add in the loss to Indy where they were up 17pts and the loss to ATL, and that's 7-2 against eastern playoffs teams in the most important part of the season.

woodson has done great here. not to mention they have the best defense in the league by far since he took over.

this is the thing - didn't woodson win 8 of 9 with a depleted roster? against better teams? he's 11-3 playing with the knowledge that amar'e and lin are likely done for the season and today was jeffries' first game in like three weeks.

Shump and JR have been giving the knicks about 15ppg, so that's helped. but i agree, they need more help from novak and baron.

i have a feeling amar'e will be playing within the next week or so. just a feeling. but i hope he comes in off the bench and provides a scoring punch for like 20minutes.

Tonights game was incredible. But we all knew we could play against these guys, we have a great team, albeit an injured one. The thing that separates this game from quite a few games during the Linsanity streak, was that Lin turned around a crashing and burning team. The emotions I felt during around 3 of those games far surpassed this one. I know this was a hugely important game but we are not even here if not for that crazy and HISTORICAL stretch. We weren't even thought to have a chance in many of those games. Two differnt levels to me and I still think this game was just incredible, but the Lin streak was... I can't even find the words. Really, unlike anything I have ever seen in my life.

I really like how Melo is playing, involving his teamates. But tonights game doesn't touch that streak. That streak was for the history books. Now, if this game carries over then I we revisit this.

Very true..Linsanity save the season for us..But another way u can look at it is that he also prolonged the firing of MDA....Knicks currently playing at .785 since MDA got bumped from the sidelines...Do the math...

why would you fire a coach when he wins 8 of 9 with a depleted roster, Now I like woodson a hell of a lot more than mike but remember its ok to root for lin and melo they will be important for the next few years

this is the thing - didn't woodson win 8 of 9 with a depleted roster? against better teams? he's 11-3 playing with the knowledge that amar'e and lin are likely done for the season and today was jeffries' first game in like three weeks.

I never said that dantoni is better than woody because i love woodson i was responding to the other poster who was saying that lin isnt worth much on this team which i disgraee with it was more about lin

Well said. I really hope Woody is back. I really can't see him not being extended. I'm sure the Stars will have a big influence.

It is amazing how well we are playing, very consistant. Hopefully Lin is back for the playoffs, and Stat as well. Jr, I mean we, could have used them tonight.

Woody gets the team to play what I would consider to be New York Knicks basketball... he's a perfect fit

Lin is getting paid peanuts and was a benchwarmer until this year where he saved our season so he deserves the praise. I love what melo is doing now but i get the feeling that melo fans want to make this melo vs lin. they play on the same team for god sakes

Unbelievable win. Garden was beside itself. Anyone else notice we really got screwed on a ton of calls?

I can't speak. My voice is gone. That has to be the best win at the Garden of the 2000s.

had he gotten fired sooner and we still had an injured melo and amare, who knows if we still would have been in the race.. Lin worked great with dantoni who did an excellent job getting lin and the other role players to play his style and do it effectively..

also, keep in mind that melo and some of the other players played a hand in dantoni not winning more games.. had they put in the effort who knows?
