good point bonn.. it is just sad how some will try to discredit durant in order to defend carmelo. even more sad that they just can't let carmelo be judged on his own merit... I think they are scared at what they really might find..

Durant is great, and with or without Westbrook, they could be down 3-1 still... the grizzlies are a good team, very good team with no "star" or " go to guy" supposedly.... they can beat anyone and have been a very good team all year..

Series is not over and Durant has been playing well, as long as he keeps playing well the thunder have a chance to win every game..

A bit unfair to say this, in my opinion. Durant has been used to put down Melo so I think thats pretty much the only reason some are taking shots at him now.

I 100% agree with your points about the Grizz though. Love watching them play.

Actually it was the other way around Durant was being stamped down in efforts to prop up Melo....It's been going on for some time now.

I think he meant "sad" in the sense that Durant is shooting 50%, playing very well, and the criticism of him is so weak that it's sad that others have stooped to that level of reasoning.

or maybe the other team is just better.. the grizzlies, like the pacers are big, physical teams, that play solid on both sides of the ball, they don't depend on one or two players, but rather focus on TEAM ball... the thunder are also a great team, just getting beat by a team that is playing better right now... Durant is playing well, if he were struggling then I could understand the criticism... but he is playing well and the series isn't over... especially with him still playing well..

honestly you don't need durant to put down carmelo.. his play has done that.... I think people have used guys like Durant as a measuring stick.. but even then.. durant is playing well, Carmelo isn't, so I don't understand the shots at durant... HE is playing good basketball...

When? I honestly havent seen it, aside from today. Durants been good all year so I dont really see where the opportunity to put him down came up. All im saying is ive seen Durants shooting efficiency thrown at people who defended Melo which is why I think im now seeing people make fun of Durants inefficient shooting last night.

his usage rate to his assist rate is basically 1:1 which is basically what a scoring point guard puts up. players with a similar ratio are walt frazier, dwyane wade, paul pierce, and larry bird. so he is facilitating and trying to make others around him better.

5.2 assists and 7.5 rebounds is not quite larry bird or lebron james territory-- it's closer to pierce-- but is still a very balanced statline.

i don't see where there is any room for tearing the guy down unless you want to tear down frazier, wade, pierce, and bird.

I think we know where this is coming from.. LOL.. Durant is a great player, and what seems to be a classy guy.... tearing him down isn't going to bring him down another level, and it isn't going to raise the level of your favorite player, especially if he is playing like crap.... the shots being taken at Durant are absolutely ridiculous on every level... especially since he is playing very well...

Agreed....but this is where TS% doesn't truly determine outcome or success. I've always maintained this is a very tricky metric in which to put all your eggs in a basket for.

Durant has played extremely well not only with his offense but his all around game but what's been missing from him is the late game play making. You can fault Brooks to an extent too. He's called/not called a couple shaky plays in which Fisher pretty much derailed their opportunities.

What I don't see from Durant is the....I'M NOT LOSING THIS GAME NO MATTER WHAT ATTITUDE...

This is why I came down on him like a Ton of Brick conceding the scoring title to Melo when he had the lead. What kind of competitor does this?

That kind of mentality will get you nowhere. You have no idea if or when a teammate will go down, where you will end up seed wise for the playoffs, or how refs will dictate a game. But you can always have as a player I WILL NOT LOSE MENTALITY....no one can take that from you. Not sure Durant is built this way yet and yes he deserves the same criticism Lebron started receiving after his 6th 7th yrs in the league. The only difference Lebron avoided the struggle and took the safe route cutting corners.

As far as Melo goes there is no comparison Durant is clearly a better PLAYER

Im just trying to put a little perspective on it. I'd rather Melos game speak for himself only and even then the results wouldnt be too good right now.

This post is a prime example of why you lose some credibility when discussing Melo. In defense of Durant, you make sure to point out that Durant is playing well eventhough he is still losing. Not only that, but you atcually take to the time to acknowledge the opponent and why they are beating the Thunder. When you knock Melo for his playoff record in Denver, you hardly ever mention that he was losing to the Spurs and Lakers and that his teams didn't have homecourt advantage nor a chance in h*% to win. You very black-n-white when discussing Melo is my point....

How were we going to get our hands on those players? Regardless of much some people on this board perfer potential over reality, Gallo and ill-Will were not going to develop into elite level players. But they would have been good enough to lead us into the black-hole of middle of the pack mediocrity. So what were we supposed to do after Lebron said no and left us standing at the alter? The biggest mistake imo was signing Stat to that unmovable contract. Once we did that we were stuck and had to salavge that situation. They added Melo in hopes that, that combo would lift us into the elite class and compete with Lebron, delusional or not. Head to head, Melo's teams beat Lebrons team more than he lost to them before he arrived here. I still believe you can win a 'chip with Melo on a team because I believe he is just as good as Pierce, but he needs another elite player to play with along the lines of prime KG, etc. Stat has been unhealthy since Melo's arrival...and he's missed that second talented player to form that combo.....To expect Melo to put this team on his back (without that other player to form the combo that you acknowlede) and beat a really good Pacer team is expecting a bit much imo. Would love to see it, but he does need help....

First off, your bosom buddy can speak himself....My response to him had nothing to do with calling him out about player vs player, but moreso about his inability to have an unbiased, objective convo about Melo....

And the help that role players like Chandler and Gallo needed was from a player like Lebron who said no....again, what was the next move?

+10000

At the same time this proves Memphis has the better TEAM but not the best STAR.....Put a great TEAM together you can beat the STAR....

Gotta Have DAT STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR......at least that's what we've been told.....

The series isn't over yet....

Funny thing is O.J. Mayo was supposed to be the next Kobe he was gonna be DAT STAR in Memphis supposedly 1-2 punch with GAY. Memphis said faghettaboudit we have just as good a chance reaching the WCF and/or Finals without either of you....

One has to be very cautious who you deem a STAR/SUPERSTAR...there are maybe only 3 in this league at best.

History tells us that you need a Star/MVP to win the 'Chip not to adnvance a round in the playoffs...When and if the Grizz beat Lebron and the Heat for the title, then their would be something to discuss....

Then we should have never got Melo with the team we put together because we're clearly not beating him and never will as long as he has a pulse. History tells us the game is changing. If anything you need a Dirk/Duncan/Durant....Garnett/Pierce combo type talent to have a chance to beat Lebron

Chandler and Gallo needed the same help and we had resources to get them help, without crippling our future or financial flexibility.

But here we see you getting on a poster for making excuses comparing a player vs another player and you making excuses for current player vs past players....

POT MEET THE FREAKING KETTLE AND BLACK OUT ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK
