Mickael Pietrus I think is still out there. Wouldn't mind him on the Knicks.

Had we not been gift wrapped Artest, I'd agree (although tough to say which one of the two I'd actually prefer...).

Charlotte just signed former Syracuse SF James Southerland up for training camp. One of the better undrafted prospects from this draft imo. Dude can really shoot the 3, he's got good size for the position at 6'8" 220 and I think he's got more to his game than he showed in college. He's actually pretty athletic...Nice move.

McGrady officially announces his retirement. Was rooting for him with SA to get that ring (unless of course things clicked and NY made the finals ).

I guess we now know why the lakers suddenly traded Odom for 'luxury tax reasons'

Hope he can kick the habit- crack destroys your soul

Yikes:

As a result, Brooklyn owns just a single pick — a 2018 second-rounder — outright between now and 2018. Every other selection has been dealt in total or via the right for a trade partner to take the Nets’ pick if it’s higher than its own. Here’s the breakdown:

2014
First round: No pick. The Hawks can swap picks with the Nets as part of last year’s Joe Johnson deal, and the lesser of the two picks is now owed to Boston from the Garnett-Pierce-Wallace trade.
Second round: No pick. It was traded to Boston (along with the rights to JaJuan Johnson) in 2011 for the rights to MarShon Brooks. Philadelphia now owns this pick.

2015
First round: The Hawks can swap picks with the Nets as part of the Johnson deal.
Second round: No pick. It was traded to Utah for Mehmet Okur in 2011.

2016
First round: No pick. It was traded to Boston in the Garnett-Pierce-Wallace deal.
Second round: The Clippers can swap picks with the Nets as part of the the Evans sign-and-trade deal last year. (The Clippers lose the ability to swap second-round picks if their own choice falls in the 56-60 range.)

2017
First round: The Celtics can swap picks with the Nets as part of the Garnett-Pierce-Wallace deal.
Second round: No pick. It was traded to Atlanta in the Johnson deal.

2018
First round: No pick. It was traded to Boston in the Garnett-Pierce-Wallace deal.
Second round: Brooklyn has this selection.

And we get blasted for giving away ONE first rounder in the Bargs deal! It amazes me that the Nets get praised for stuff we'd be blasted for- writers have even been complementing them on 'being willing to pay so much luxury tax'. Essentially trading all of your picks until 2019 for a one year window, where you're not even the favorite to get to the finals!

To be fair, it's a bit misleading. Seems they have first round picks in 2015 and 2017, just the lower of the two teams' picks. Better hope they get some years out of the fab five, because rebuilding is going to be tough in a couple years.

As smart cap guys like @kpelton & @EricPincus note, Milwaukee can take on Caron Butler's deal by just giving up V. Kravtsov or Ish Smith

Couldn't pick Paul Coro out of a line up of one but he is reporting the particulars of the butler trade.

A #Suns trade of Caron Butler to the Bucks for Ish Smith & Slava Kravtsov (no pick) should be finalized Thursday. Suns add $5.65M cap space.

they can use that 5.65 cap space to buy out beasley at 9mill...release him

i know i sound like a groupie...but despite his troubles ive always been enamored by beasleys skill set...im sure hed sign for cheap hoping for another chance..cut CJ Leslie (shouldve been done yesterday) and replace him with beasley if available

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Don't remember seeing it posted, but Ivan Johnson has signed to play in China, with no NBA out clause. He hopes to maybe sign with a playoff team once the Chinese season is over (I think it ends just before the nba playoffs).

My pal Ian Begley noted Saturday afternoon that Chris Smith, brother of the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year, will in fact be in training camp with the Knicks this coming fall.

Confirmation received.

Of course, KnicksJournal.com has been on top of this for months. According to a source, the team has maintained the idea of bringing the younger Smith back into training camp this year since (at least) this past February. See here.

Such an invitation is likely just simply a courtesy to his older brother, but the Knicks have, nevertheless, been monitoring the Louisville product's rehab progress over the last few months. He was participating in three on three scrimmages at the team's training facility along with the likes of Amar'e Stoudemire, James White, and Chris Copeland back in April.

Should New York ultimately not extend the courtesy even further via a spot on the opening night roster, expect Smith to catch on with the Erie BayHawks, the Knicks' NBA D-League affiliate.

Drew Gooden as a 15th big man? Not much will be expected from him but at least hes a big man?

what do you think?
