You honestly think that this kid fixes all that ails the Knicks D after all these years? Let's say this kid is a good defender (let's take it easy with the "lockdown defender" stuff). What are they going to do with him on the offensive end? There's no chance he's capable of running the offense so forget PG. He's not a good shooter and teams will play off him daring him to shoot. So he's not a SG either. My huge problem with this pick, is that the Knicks need a ton of help and they need players who bring something to both ends of the court. This kid is a luxury selection that is seemingly good at one thing. And I doubt Wade, LeBron, Rose, Rondo and Allen are losing any sleep over this kid. This was a huge FAIL. ![]() With the studs we have on this team all you have to do as a big is be dedicated to do the dirty work and you'll find all kinds of success. We just didn't have anyone that was committed to do the dirty work. Adding a kid who has a knack for offensive boards and is hard to move off the blocks is a very important addition. As they say rebounding is not about how high you can jump. I'm willing to give Harrelson a chance to see what he can do. I trust Donnie when it comes to these kinds of drafts. He always seems to find guys that fill roles.

Combining excellent length and lateral quickness with good intensity, Shumpert is simply exceptional one-on-one, rebounds the ball at an outrageous rate for a guard, and leads our database in steals by a pretty considerable margin. Extremely active with his hands and feet, Shumpert does a great job maintaining his balance and denying penetration and has the physical tools to defend multiple positions in the NBA. My question to you is who would you rather we have taken at 17 and why? Why shouldn't we have taken the best defensive guard in the draft? |

Hamilton has great size, shoots well with NBA 3pt range, is a solid rebounder, runs the floor and is a very good defender with the ability to block shots. He also has some post game. On offense he can spread the floor and hit the open shots that come with playing with Amare and Melo. On defense he'd at the very least hold his own with his athleticism and long arms. Faried adds the rebounding and heart that this team desperately needs. If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. ![]() If Harrellson really wants to be in the NBA and gets into a little better shape (10% body fat), he will end up being the fan favorite on the Knicks, and may even give us a few minutes each game..
Always good to have an overachiever on the team, and that is what this guy seems to be. You know he is going to bang down low and pick up a bunch of fouls if he plays, but he will mix it up on the boards, play some positional D, set some much needed picks, and convert on some some garbage buckets. I assume that we asked NO to pick him up for us, and that we liked Harrellson more than some of the other guys who were still available- Benson, Selby, and Goudelock (He was also taken one pick after Jenkins, who I liked). Harrellson-type players are always good for a team, even if the odds are that he will never get more than 15 minutes of court time in a real game. No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. ![]() im kinda surprised ben hansbrough wasn't selected... he had such a great finish to this year, he showed he can definitely play as a role player in the pros. would love to sign him.
david lighty also made alot of big shots over the years for ohio state, he'd make a good role player as well. "OMG - did we just go on a two-trade-wining-streak?" -SupremeCommander

![]() islesfan wrote:For about the millionth time, what is his role on offense? More of a Bruce Bowen type who can finish a little better off a break. His shooting form is not bad and his foul shooting is indicative of this. Unless the Knicks saw something in his game when he practiced for us, I would not want him given too many decisions to make with the ball during his first year. He can use his athleticism to get to the rim, but does he have enough of a handle to really turn the corner? And can he run PnR? Should be fun to watch. I don't worry too much about his shoot % number, and as you suggest, his FT numbers are good and his form is too. He lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals in his senior year as a PG; this suggests that he has zero help from teammates and probably was inundated. He is a big question mark... can he turn the corner offensively like Derrick Rose or David Lee and get an outside shot? Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

![]() Donnie sees him as a PG/SG and believes he can play the point. IMO he helps to cover up for TD in that Iman can run the offense, while TD looks to score, which is his strength. Iman can help CB too, by defending the PG when he's on the floor with CB. CB can then defend the slower SG's, using his strength. It's a good tradeoff.
I'd watch more video of Iman for those who don't think he can handle the ball well enough to bring it up at the NBA level. He's not Rautins. He's already a better PG than TD. Before the draft Iman did an interview where he said he never played with a dominant SF and PF and that he wished he had those kinds of players to pass to. He also said that he's a pure point and not a combo guard, but that he's improving on his scoring. He sees himself as a PG and has been playing point and SG, until proven otherwise i'd let him work both spots as he's been doing. |
