ZERO NBA Championships to go with all that booing. Glad that he's going into retirement content with that.

Why are you here?

Why are you here?

We all have a right to think Donnie Walsh is not god so don't ask us why are we here like we have to agree with one reach and another terrible pick.

You should really consider not writing anything further. You're embarrassing yourself. You think Iman is a reach at 17? Explain why you think that is the case? I'd love to hear your argument for why that is so.

As for Harrelson, he seems like a typical Donnie pick. You don't understand the pick at 1st cuz it's not sexy, but then the guy is there for years being a pest and helping his team win games. You just never know. I'm not saying he's that successful, but I can understand what Donnie is thinking.

I did. I was one of a very small group of people, though.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

He's an attention starved loser. When the Knicks finally win a title this clown won't be anywhere near this board.

this is the type of guy we love to root for in NY. He may not be the most talented center but he makes up for that with a great motor, a never-give-up attitude, great mobility for a really slow big man and seems to gave a great knack for the offensive rebounds. Has enough height to be backup C in probably a David Lee-like performance but also trying on defense. Not saying he will be DLee, but he may bring great rebounding and activity in the limited minutes he plays.

I like this pick.

You don't know what you're talking about and you still didn't answer me you HYPOCRITE!!! Where you one of the ones complaining about a lack of D all these years? How can you complain when we take the BEST defensive Guard in the draft? isn't that our highest priority? This is a kid that can guard 1-3 and be a lockdown defender in this league. How can you bash Donnie for making a pick like that? Our weakest area is perimeter defense. Even more so than interior D and he addressed that and then took a big that had a great showing in the NCAA tourney and is known as a hustle guy. What's the big issue you have with that?

My take is that you don't try to make a guy a defender you want to take players that LOVE to defend if you want to improve.

Dude, I don't even know what your question is. You honestly think that this kid fixes all that ails the Knicks D after all these years? Let's say this kid is a good defender (let's take it easy with the "lockdown defender" stuff). What are they going to do with him on the offensive end? There's no chance he's capable of running the offense so forget PG. He's not a good shooter and teams will play off him daring him to shoot. So he's not a SG either.

My huge problem with this pick, is that the Knicks need a ton of help and they need players who bring something to both ends of the court. This kid is a luxury selection that is seemingly good at one thing. And I doubt Wade, LeBron, Rose, Rondo and Allen are losing any sleep over this kid. This was a huge FAIL.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

With the studs we have on this team all you have to do as a big is be dedicated to do the dirty work and you'll find all kinds of success. We just didn't have anyone that was committed to do the dirty work. Adding a kid who has a knack for offensive boards and is hard to move off the blocks is a very important addition. As they say rebounding is not about how high you can jump. I'm willing to give Harrelson a chance to see what he can do. I trust Donnie when it comes to these kinds of drafts. He always seems to find guys that fill roles.

And thus by writing this you prove to me that you don't know what you're talking about.
his play on the defensive end, where he has absolutely flourished this season. Combining excellent length and lateral quickness with good intensity, Shumpert is simply exceptional one-on-one, rebounds the ball at an outrageous rate for a guard, and leads our database in steals by a pretty considerable margin. Extremely active with his hands and feet, Shumpert does a great job maintaining his balance and denying penetration and has the physical tools to defend multiple positions in the NBA.

While Shumpert certainly hasn't had a stellar offensive season despite his productivity, he's made a lot of key improvements in other areas. If he lands on a team with a coach that can help him hone his shot selection, eliminate the inefficient parts of his game (mainly his stubborn insistence for settling for pull-up jumpers), and play to his strengths, the improvements he's made as a slasher, rebounder, and defender could make him a very useful player at the NBA level.

Though he projects as a roleplayer due to his lack of jump shooting ability and pure point guard play, Shumpert has the ability to compete with any guard in the country in workouts on a good day, and is a clear-cut sleeper prospect to watch should he enter the draft.

My question to you is who would you rather we have taken at 17 and why? Why shouldn't we have taken the best defensive guard in the draft?

Did I miss something?

Knicks bought the 45th pick from the Hornets.

This guy Harrelson is a P_ec of Sh_t
he has the typical Center size but really only 6 10 work is he lacks the length and athleticism of a prototypical
NBA Big man, fair shooter but will not create ANY Post up opportunities for his size

Only Knicks can get such Junk and it has Mike D'Antoni written all over it a Guard in a big guy /Centers body
Its such as waste.

If Coach Calipari couldnt do anything to make him have some identity OR Areas to add to an NBA team what's the
Knicks gonna do with him ?

Piece of junk

what do you know about harrelson that you didn't just read off some nba draft website?

TO
Childs2Dudley & Nyk4ever
(By the way I don't suck, Knicks draft chances suck in 2012 thru 2016)

Ok ..
I'll respectively bite the bullet & my tongue, Josh is here.
To answer your concerns about reading website YES I've seen Josh in the Tourneys and watched most NCAA games
as Kentucky went far into March Madness, he was decent stuck back some shots

It aint typical center play (jumpshooting).

I'll wait and see what happens
but despite that all Size/6 10 and from good Program don't mean he's a lock on any team.

NY got him, cant do anything or cry bout it..
I just aint overly impressesed...
When it comes for Knicks to develop Harrelson and make him quantified BACKUP center/f or whatever
then sure I'll come back on this board and give kudos.

However team needs SIZE/talent and shooting
aside from being a 6 10 guy whom played and had his moments on a already good team I aint impressed.
Dont make any difference what I say anyway DRAFT is weak for BIG men 2011 so its a crapshoot and moot point!

I wanted Hamilton or Faried.

Hamilton has great size, shoots well with NBA 3pt range, is a solid rebounder, runs the floor and is a very good defender with the ability to block shots. He also has some post game. On offense he can spread the floor and hit the open shots that come with playing with Amare and Melo. On defense he'd at the very least hold his own with his athleticism and long arms.

Faried adds the rebounding and heart that this team desperately needs.

If Harrellson really wants to be in the NBA and gets into a little better shape (10% body fat), he will end up being the fan favorite on the Knicks, and may even give us a few minutes each game..

Always good to have an overachiever on the team, and that is what this guy seems to be.

You know he is going to bang down low and pick up a bunch of fouls if he plays, but he will mix it up on the boards, play some positional D, set some much needed picks, and convert on some some garbage buckets.

I assume that we asked NO to pick him up for us, and that we liked Harrellson more than some of the other guys who were still available- Benson, Selby, and Goudelock (He was also taken one pick after Jenkins, who I liked).

Harrellson-type players are always good for a team, even if the odds are that he will never get more than 15 minutes of court time in a real game.

im kinda surprised ben hansbrough wasn't selected... he had such a great finish to this year, he showed he can definitely play as a role player in the pros. would love to sign him.

david lighty also made alot of big shots over the years for ohio state, he'd make a good role player as well.

My feelings toward Ben are kinda blah. But I hope we jump on Smith right now. I'm surprised he's still available.

More of a Bruce Bowen type who can finish a little better off a break. His shooting form is not bad and his foul shooting is indicative of this.

Unless the Knicks saw something in his game when he practiced for us, I would not want him given too many decisions to make with the ball during his first year.

I have a feeling they will groom him as PG and see what they get. He can use his athleticism to get to the rim, but does he have enough of a handle to really turn the corner?

And can he run PnR?

Should be fun to watch.

I don't worry too much about his shoot % number, and as you suggest, his FT numbers are good and his form is too.

He lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals in his senior year as a PG; this suggests that he has zero help from teammates and probably was inundated.

He is a big question mark... can he turn the corner offensively like Derrick Rose or David Lee and get an outside shot?

Donnie sees him as a PG/SG and believes he can play the point. IMO he helps to cover up for TD in that Iman can run the offense, while TD looks to score, which is his strength. Iman can help CB too, by defending the PG when he's on the floor with CB. CB can then defend the slower SG's, using his strength. It's a good tradeoff.

I'd watch more video of Iman for those who don't think he can handle the ball well enough to bring it up at the NBA level. He's not Rautins. He's already a better PG than TD. Before the draft Iman did an interview where he said he never played with a dominant SF and PF and that he wished he had those kinds of players to pass to. He also said that he's a pure point and not a combo guard, but that he's improving on his scoring. He sees himself as a PG and has been playing point and SG, until proven otherwise i'd let him work both spots as he's been doing.
