We would have had a better pick last year that maybe we would not have traded away or gotten nice return for besides salary dump.

You have to develop from within and when you play broken down vets over the young players, you only edlay their development and hurt the team long term for useless short term gains that only hurts draft stock when you are in the bottom of the league. We are at the next phase since we are so much better, but not play Deuce last year was a mistake.

So refreshing to hear a poster who's on the same page. This was my argument as well. Unless the vets are leading us to the eastern conference finals. But thats not the case for the role player vets we added. I hope we do not repeat that issue again.

how do you know it wouldnt have made him worse and even further damaged his confidence? Forcing a struggling young player out there makes zero sense. They sent him to the minors where he did really well.

I'm all for the old school way of youth development
yup... you want minutes go get em. Truth is I love Deuce but you gotta make it happen on the court. I'll not fall into the Frank trap again!

Actually it has nothing to do with the court we see on tv. It’s what they do in practice. And according to Thibs, deuce is hitting his shots in practice. It’s just not transferring to the main stage yet, until recently. So I agree with thibs on this. And I’ll have to trust thibs on using practice time to justify playing time or lack there of (ex. Cam)

Bye bye Deuce. In comes Hart.

I haven’t watch Hart play but unless he has PG defense like deuce, I’m good. Because his 3pt shot is on deuce level.

With that said, im looking forward to thibs roster management, with his new defensive toy.

Guys are in and out of the rotation all of the time for injuries etc. deuce will have no problem still finding his 15 mins many nights.

Josh hart is a great mentor and model for deuce. I see deuce as a PG version of hart. We just added another winner who’s not a volume shooter. Excellent fit.

Ok after watching Harts first game as a Knicks, in extremely happy with him. He’s my type of 2way Dog.

Harts impact on this team is deuce ceiling to me, but at 6’1.
Grimes is a shooting version of Hart. At least that’s my expectations for grimes and deuce from the day we drafted them.

So I don’t look at this as a demotion, but rather the Knicks are providing a model of success in Hart while helping the team prepare for the playoff run.

Once Dolan said on live tv he’s expecting the Knicks to make the playoffs, then this Hart addition is a no brainer. And there is no late round 2023 pick that would’ve impact the game like hart is doing. Not when you have old school thibs who believes in a pecking order.

I couldn’t think of a better trade scenario where we still have our core young players, adding a player who will increase our wins, while proving a role model for the yoots to succeed. Even Obi will understand there’s more to basketball than running to the corners like he’s playing 2k.

Deuce and hart combo is a dangerous pair on defense and offense.

Love this second unit

We are seeing the impact of hart from the second unit. Great mentor for deuce and others. He allows players like deuce to fail safely while in the development chamber.

Think this may propel him. First time I saw confidence in his eyes. Grimes better watch out. Would not mind seeing a smaller lineup with Ihart, Jhart, IQ, Grimes and Deuce. Jhart rebounds more than Obi.

Now we just need a SF/PF version! Kyle Anderson would be perfect or someone similar.

The chemistry is so good with this team, I’m not sure 🤔. I used to think we only one move away. Now I think that one move is for a superstar now.

What i'm about to say is more of a after season thing.

But imo Hart has made Grimes redundant and expendable. And Obi isn't the best fit for this roster. He is a scorer whose game and development is more based off being way more featured like he was toward the end of last season. When we have 4 guys already who like to create and shoot.

Instead we need another Hart 2-way, 3&D type that does the little things. Who is effective and impactful without plays called. Mins wise would become cleaner with Brunson-Hart-IQ eating those guard mins. A natural SF/PF with more size, length and rebounding chops than Grimes to pair Hart with on the wing. Add in Quickley's improved defense... Would be a lot for opponents to deal with. Would backup RJ and Randle keeping the rotation, roles, mins distribution very clean and even more effective. The inclusion of Hart was seamless because he doesn't need the ball to be effective. Chemistry mostly becomes an issue with the Fournier, Reddish, Obi, dare I say RJ type players who desire the ball in their hands to be effective. But lack doing a lot of the little things when not being featured.

In terms of a Superstar. The scenario will need to play out similar to Kwahi and Derozan. Where we would look package an RJ or Randle and multiple first to net that disgruntled star at that respective position. Due to playoff failures and us looking to take that next step.

One last thing about RJ. He has the talent, build, work ethic to be everything we need at starting SF. He should be molding his game to rebound Hart and push like Hart, guard multiple positions like Hart, hit catch and shoot threes like Hart. The sooner he accepts that the team can reach another level.

C'mon man, he's a second year player.

Josh Hart wasn't this Josh Hart in year 2.

Not a knock on Grimes.

The make up of the team calls more for a natural forward with size and length. But of course not a finesse one like Reddish.
