SPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported as much last week when she said:

The Sixers could also bring him back and try again if they can’t get a Lillard or a Beal at the moment, but it also appears that maybe Simmons doesn’t want to come back. Per Ramona Shelburne on ESPN’s The Jump: The Sixers are open to bringing him back. In a lot of ways, I think they would prefer that. I think they would prefer to say we don’t want totrade this guy who can win the Defensive Player of the Year, who is a young superstar in the making. Just come back and let’s let’s work on this, but it doesn’t seem like there’s a bridge there that is being walked across by both sides like that. I don’t know if Ben Simmons has that interest right now because things were said afterwards. After the season, Doc Rivers said some things, Joel Embiid said some things. I know there’s been trying to smoothing out of that relationship, but it doesn’t seem like Ben is necessarily interested in that right now.

Good for Ben just like good for Harden. When you're franchise starts screwing with you it's time to go. For Houston, they quibbled with Mike DAntoni and brought him back for a lame duck season, as if a 2nd round flameout was his fault for an MVP not dipping into lux tax territory. Ben Simmons has had to deal with Embiid ego and then got blamed by Doc for his ****ty coaching. Time to free Ben.

Sacramento seems to be a good fit. Between Fox, Hield, Halliburton, and rookie they have the guys to get a deal done. Simmons strikes me as a Luke Walton type guy.

If so, Simmons is still the child rumors have his as. The money is nice but it comes with responsibility and he does not seem to fulfil a level of humility to put the work in to get to the level of star status he was given. Its how it works and NBA has to deal with that.
Its as painful to move from KP but we got over it. sixers should move him, but if not, Simmons should suck it up and face his commitments.
Simmons caved under the responsibility of his contract. Sixers have to deal with it and they won’t get great value in return if they force a trade. Of course Portland does not want him as he is not the leader Lillard was but he might pair well with McCollum.
When Morey or Ujiri calls you gotta watch your back!!!

^^^ not following. that seems like a ****ty attitude by Ben and also explains why his game has barely developed and in many ways regressed despite immense talent. He doesn't take criticism well. Of course many people don't initially, but grown ups respond rationally once the initial emotional reaction passes

One can argue that Joel and Doc should have kept that in-house but that doesn't negate the fact that it was the truth.

Does Defensive player of the year deserve that money if he is so awful on offense?

sixers are playing with fire on this one IMO

Maybe DSjr going back to Dallas - I guess when you run out of options?

Smith used to have a bit of a grudge against the Mavs for trading him. But now he definitely seems to have interest in running it back with the team with whom he started his NBA career.

Game 1 starts with Denny Green on Trae and then after the loss Doc makes a big announcement about next game Simmons will cover Trae. Total Bush League by Doc. Makes a stupid call and then puts the onus on Simmons. I don't get that.

Boss sends a salesman to complete a big deal, that guy fails, and then the boss says, now we're going to bring in our best guy. Why not just bring the best guy from the start like any normal person would?

Embiid gets all the MVP accolades but plays about 500 less minutes per season on average. Simmons is the engine of that team, yet he regularly is asked by Joel to hold his beer. It's dysfunctional. That's on the organization as much as anyone else.

Also, people griped a lot more on Simmons offense than they do with the real culprit: Seth Curry's abominable defense.

Hey, Simmons isn't perfect,no one is, but this isn't a KP situation where it's mostly potential, Simmons gets it done but Embiid and Doc were happy to scape goat him.
What kind of bull**** was the final presser "I don't know if Ben Simmons can be a PG on a championship level team." Considering Mario Chalmers has got two rings, that's setting the bar pretty low.

I thought that was Coach motivation for let's see if we light a fire under his ass, how will he respond.

And clearly, he took it as an affront rather than an opportunity to prove Doc wrong.

What’s the hold up with us actually signing all our done deals? (So far it seems we’ve only actually signed our 3 rookies)

Nah.

Rose's deal must be done last. The other's aren't using exceptions.

And Oladipo if that Houston offer was real. Not Bball related, but throw in Terrance Howard for his decision to leave the Iron Man franchise.

Ben still has the same questions he had in college. HAs he improved his game one iota? Guy is immature. I suspect f doc and Joel — who are much closer to him than we are — are simply calling him out

Anyway glad he’s not our problem

So I was wondering - if we don’t sign Grimes could he and say Knox be moved in some type of sign/trade prior to us signing him?

For ex. Knox/Grimes maybe a 2nd for sign and traded J Hart.

Grimes already signed (which is why he's playing SL) but draft picks can be traded 30 days after signing, so in effect the answer to your question is yes, Knox and Grimes can be traded for Hart in a S&T, but Grimes only starting Sept 5.

Schroeder 4 years at 21 mil PER guaranteed. Ouch.
He needs to understand what leverage is and when its used.

Celtics kind of had a good thing when they traded for Kyrie. They gave up what became Colin Sexton, Crowder, hobbled IT and some other dude. Adding Kyrie and Haywood seemed like a dream paired with Tatum and brown. They turned Horford to Kemba and now that cost them Giddy. They rolling with Schroeder now.

Ainge had build a juggernaut then diluted it. Haywood was unfortunate. Kyrie did not want to play for a racist town. They read him wrong. His teammates loved him. I’m not full of Kyrie hate if you can tell. Not a fan, just not piling on to the hate.
Boston needed to lock him to a contract. They got him for a discount.
Sexton would not have been a bad fit and some of the other pieces had value. Hindsight is delicious!

We thought Boston would rule. its not that easy. Ainge killed it then he blew it. We railed Knicks for KP loss no it turned out just fine.
Remember when Celtics raped Nets? They did and Celts were relevant when Nets were not. Now Nets are stacked and Celts are not. Ebb and flow.
Lesson? DOn’t over react.
