Gotta be fair though. They have to give MDA some time. He is trying to put in his own system and it will take time. They do need Nash. If I were them, I would ask Houston what it would take to get Lin.

Lol Kobe would Death Stare Lin out of the NBA.

No he won't. Kobe gave him the death stare in that game because Lin played well in that game and he just forced Kobe into a TO.

He gave him the Death Stare because Lin Reggie Evan'ed him by flopping on the ground:

It's one thing to like a dude on another team. That's fine.

But this Lin thing you have is obnoxious. He didn't force anything on Kobe. Kobe had a triple double that game and torched the vaunted Houston backcourt. It was actually a bad game for Lin, he had 5 points in 31 minutes with plusminus of -20. Dude has been terrible overall with a Hollinger PER of 12.87. Felton who guys are saying is the worst PG in the league actually has a higher PER of 16.92 (this includes the atrocity in Brooklyn).

You don't have to defend the dude everytime. It's okay that he hasn't panned out. Not all our favorite players do. I rooted like heck for Nate Robinson or Channing Frye or Frank Williams or Mike Sweetney to pan out...they never did and gone on to average to mediocre NBA careers. Same thing is happening to Lin, let it go.

CHUCK, I don't know how in tune you are with the rockets fans and community, but I have been conversing with them a lot, they love lin bro.. you keep saying he hasn't panned out, that is ridiculous.. The rockets are 7-7 not bad for them and lin is really starting to play well... last night the kid had 16/10/4/3 and shot like 7-9 from the field, something close to that.. he completely outplayed lowry who really was trying to have a breakout game vs his former team.. to lump lin in the same category as frank williams and nate, is ridiculous.. but for the record, frye has carved out a nice career with the suns and nate has found a home in chicago... lin at this point is starting for the rockets and he is playing well as of late... the fact that you are trying your hardest to discredit the kid is somewhat comical because you are dead wrong and just over the top...

Same way you view Chucks posts as discrediting Lin, is the same way you discredit Melo....I'm sure you dont see it that way, but thats how your posts come off...

What a thing of beauty!

In the end we'll have to endure Pierce being hailed as a Celtic great and enshrined in the HOF. I doubt his plaque will him depicted as being carried off the floor!

The Rondo ejection after KG got knocked down was cool Kudos to Nets not backing down to their loony tune act and finishing them on their own court.

NO IT IS NOT THE SAME.... discredit? no, I don't give him the credit you guys do.... plain and simple.. you guys see him as the basketball messiah, I see him as just a good player.. a lot different than comparing lin to frank williams and saying, he hasn't panned out after a hand full of games....

But it is expected you would see things this way, you along with some others are way too emotionally invested in carmelo... no rationalizing with you at all..

simple.. you guys say melo is MVP after 4 games... rational thinking says.. wait a minute.. 4 games.. a bit too soon..

carmelo fans: "you guys are haters"..

yet I guess all things are equal when the heart is involved... the heart wants, what the heart wants.. i guess..

I took this from a post in the rockets forum.

An interesting quote by Kevin Durant to put last night's game in perspective...

http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/dura...-weary-rockets

In other words, the ENTIRE OKC defense was designed around one concept... double/triple team Harden and Lin so that they had to pass out and make the REST of the team beat them.

Lin has said many times that he simply likes to "take what the defense gives you". The OKC defense gave him a 4 on 3 mismatch whenever they moved to double, so he passed out and TRUSTED his team mates to either make an open look, or to make the smart pass for an open look.

This is why Patterson, Asik and Cook took so many shots. Once OKC commits to the double on Harden and/or Lin, it leaves them with most wide open shots or easy runs at the rim.

It just happens that without Parsons, the rest of the players on the floor didn't have enough scoring punch to keep up, or enough defensive punch to slow down OKC.

Saw a good part of the game. They were competitive until they took out Lin in the 2nd quarter. They were going toe to toe and Asik, Patterson and Morris were making their shots. As soon as TD came in, the ball movement stopped and the game was over. Sampson put Lin back in a little earlier than his usual rotation but it was too late. Rockets really need a better backup PG. TD should really be only viewed as a backup SG.

yea, I saw the whole game... only thing was harden was way too aggressive and took some bad shots and got a lot blocked... and lin was a bit too passive, should have been more aggressive, he didn't take a shot until like the second qtr.. that can't happen.. the thunder did a good job forcing the ball out of their hands tho.. I will admit that.. Lin did finish with 8 assist and could have had more.. guys were missing some shots down low.... but i will give credit to patter and cook who came out shooting and playing with confidence.. they did miss parsons as he gives them another ball handler and playmaker..

I also liked lin's defense on westbrook, lin had 4 steals and I saw three of them he took directly from westbrook on drives.. very impressive as westbrook is tough when he gets on the move...

okc is a touch matchup for anyone, and not to make excuses but the rockets had a long day, they traveled to minny to attend Mchale's daughter funeral and then flew right to the arena in okc.. a long day to have to face a team like the thunder..

I agree. Lin should have been a little more aggressive. His defense on Westbrook was awesome. Not just the steals but staying in front of him and challenging his shot.

Lin's defensive problems is not 1-on-1. He can stay in front of his man. His problem is on PnR. He always follows his man on the pick and if his teammate does not show to slow down the ballhandler then he is in trouble. Fishlips played this to perfection. Rockets big men are just too young and does not know how to defend the PnR.

good point, good observation.. jeffries was very good with small things like that....the rockets do need some depth on that team and a good defensive vet on the front line and a backup Pg would help a lot..

Tommy Heinson is great!!! What a home announcer personality should do is incite even more!!! Good stuff!

Looking at the replay its a hard foul, but not even flagrent. KG was fading away. Terry's comments about Hump being a "fake tough guy" is silly also. Plain and simple, hard foul, Hump has his back to KG even as he fell. KG for all the yapping he does knows teams will push back some. He many be a bit loony but he takes it to a certain limit then he backs down. Nalod thinks Rondo over reacted and was being "fake tough guy". ALthough I would not want those 7 foot reach arms coming my way!

I agree. Terry is now a Celt and Doc preaches a close group so I get the rabid reaction by Rondo and Terry wanting to fit in with this group. "KG and the CoCoa Puffs" thing is ok for the most part. Its part of their persona and they do what they need to do to win.

are there any "real tough guys" left in the league?

Can't take fights and spill it into the crowd. Nothing good comes of that!

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has decided to send four of his top five scorers home rather than play them in Thursday's game against the defending champion Miami Heat, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green reportedly did not join the team after its victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night and instead traveled back to San Antonio for an extra day of rest. The Spurs are scheduled to face the Memphis Grizzlies, who have the NBA's best record.

The Spurs, already without injured players Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Jackson, will take on the Heat with only nine players.

The NBA will not sanction the Spurs for resting the players.

Popovich has made this move in the past -- sitting Duncan, Parker and Ginobili for three games last season.

Was pretty pissed about this until my brother told me that thats their 4th game in 5 nights and the Heat havent had a game in like 4 or 5 days. When I heard that I realized this was more about sticking it to Stern than resting those guys

Sticking it to Stern ??? SMH

you essentially throw a game to get even with the STERN..and the million of viewers who would prefer you stick it to the HEAT..

This isn't a team you see 3 or 4 times a yr, the playoffs are not around the corner..Im completely baffled

Spurs Roll To Fifth Straight Win

SportsNation: Spurs Stars Sit

SportsNation Gregg Popovich held four of his top players out of Thursday's game against the Heat. Is that fair? And should the league intervene?
Discuss and vote!

SMH

Im not saying he should've done it. Hell, I had plans to watch this matchup with a few friends. Im just saying this cant be about fatigue since he could have reasonably rested them against Orlando since theyre a bad team.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Apparently Stern is going to fine the club.

David Stern said the Spurs will face "substantial sanctions" for resting their players on Thursday.
"I apologize to all NBA fans. This was an unacceptable decision by the Spurs. Substantial sanctions will be forthcoming," David Stern said. It's fair to say that there wouldn't be such an outrage had the game not been nationally televised. "Substantial sanctions" might be this year's "basketball reasons" for Stern. Stay tuned for how the NBA fines the Spurs for managing their team.

That's absolute garbage if Stern fines them. No grounds to enforce it, unless they want to implement fan voting for rotations on a nightly basis.

Meanwhile, the starless Spurs are hanging tough with the Heat.
