Chicago has done some very strange moves this offseason IMHO. With Rose down and out until January next year, they have let both CJ Watson and John Lucas go - those 2 PGs really eased Rose's injuries last year.... they are left with Marquis Teague who as drafted 29th? They have no other PGs.

Also let Bonnie Brewer and Korver go and replaced with Radmanovic, all for $ reasons. Their only SG is Rip Hamilton who is constantly injured and will be 35 next season. Who else shoots for them?

So you have to wonder if they really match Omer Asik.

Here is their current salary situation in 3 years, and it's as brutal as any in the league:

Rose - $18M (or some max $)
Booz - $17M
Deng - ? UFA
Noah - $13M
Asik - $15M
Taj - RFA and will get top offer ~$10-12M

Poison pill that is worse than Lin's.

I have a feeling Chicago sees their regular season record as over achieving the last 2 years. No doubt they're a good team, but look what happened without Rose. Maybe they think this is a good chance to see how they start without Rose, and if they're out of the hunt just hold him out and improve their draft status. They're still a very good player away from being a true championship contender I think. Maybe they see it the same way.

They may view this as a lost year. Curious what their cap situation is nexy year if the amnesty Boozer...Dwight will be a FA

No, Houston would be spending $16M combined for Lin and Asik in year 3. The team offering a poison pill contract doesn't get a poison pill; they pay the average amount spread over the life of the contract.

Actually. they pay the same as the players' previous team would pay but the cap number is 16 mill. So they are still paying 30 mill give or take in year three.

So does this mean that the owner of the bulls is an idiot or that the Knicks owner is smart. lol.

2.5 mil is what I seen and Belineli signed with Chicago. The SG market is closing fast.

Delfino, Miles, Brewer, and West would be my top candidates. Delonte is well we know but veteran contending teams love him. Delfino is good but stands around to much. Brewer gives you D and Miles is young. I also think Pietrus should get a look and his options with a contending team seems to be closing.

Yep, $2.5mil for Bell, and the BAE for Belinelli ($1.96mil). So the prices are dropping- unfortunately we still have to wait it out for a while longer, and hope there's still an okayish player left who has to sign for the minimum.

What teams still have money at this point?

Also, what's Raja Bell like these days? I haven't noticed him playing in years. If he can still play defense and still shoot, he might be worth a look. I'd rather we get someone younger, but he's played with Amar'e and Kurt while on the Suns and should be cheap.
