Looks more agile than Doleac from what I can see and that's not saying much :)

he has the typical Center size but really only 6 10 work is he lacks the length and athleticism of a prototypical
NBA Big man, fair shooter but will not create ANY Post up opportunities for his size

Only Knicks can get such Junk and it has Mike D'Antoni written all over it a Guard in a big guy /Centers body
Its such as waste.

If Coach Calipari couldnt do anything to make him have some identity OR Areas to add to an NBA team what's the

On the offensive end, Coach John Calipari has creatively found ways to take advantage of Harrellson by using him in ball-screen actions and dribble handoffs to free his teammates for shots. He's comfortable catching the ball on the perimeter and shows good decision making skills, as evidenced by the fact that he has as many assists as turnovers this season, which is rare for a big man and ranks him 4th amongst all centers in our database in assist-to-turnover ratio.

Harrellson will never be a player who will get many post-up opportunities (only 7% of his possessions this season have been in the post) or really have any plays called for him, but he's been very efficient with his touches, scoring over 1.1 points per possession on the season, and shooting an impressive 61% from the field. He also shows great activity and effort on the offensive glass, grabbing 5.2 offensive rebounds per forty minutes pace adjusted (3rd highest of all centers in our database), and utilizing both hands to finish around the rim on put-backs.

Interesting stuff. It's a low cost option to take a chance on the guy.

I agree with you about wanting Selby to flip him.

Harrelson seems kinda Doleac-esque after watching him in the tourney. He's definitely a big body. I still am holding out the hope that Dalembert/Evans takes the MLE. Evans can with out a doubt play Center in my mind.... I know I know Mike D wouldn't play him yada yada yada.

how do you figure doleac as a comparison, because they are both white? doleac was an excellent pick and roll shooter, harrelson will be lucky if he even touches the ball for a J at the foul-line...

i'm not trying to discredit harrelson by saying that either, i just think they are totally different players. harrelson will make his game downlow while doleac was a pure shooting bigman.

haha you know while I writing it, I knew someone would throw the ol' race card in there. They both set solid screens and, as I said, watching him in the tourney, he DID INDEED knock down some open jumpers for them.

And you're right saying he won't get it for jumpers because we have Amare Stoudmire. You think Doleac would have been knocking all those shots down w/ STAT here?

I was actually also gonna say lesser Kurt Thomas. Is that OK Bizzaro Al Sharpton?

You suck.

This is the 2nd round. Stop acting like we can get stars.

It doesn't have Mike D'Antoni all over it because this guy plays defense and rebounds. He is a hustle player who is a good guy to have on a team. A "glue" guy who is already better than Jared Jeffries.

ZERO NBA Championships to go with all that booing. Glad that he's going into retirement content with that.

Im actually at peace with this draft once we bought the 2nd round. I guess at some poing I just wanted them to buy a pick and show they were trying.

Now, Iman has talent, brings defense, has big upside and was brought here with a plan in mind, which I like. The fact that they see him as adequate to defend SGs and in offense he becomes the PG moving the pick-n-roll while Billups becomes the scoring guard sounds like a good plan. Maybe was a reach, but they showed they had difficulties getting a second pick so if they thought he was the one, Im fine. They picked need with upside, which is great. It would've been terrible to pick another SF or PF.

Harrelson sounds like a guy that will probably be ready to contribute right away with a few minutes off the bench as a backup C. He seems like he cares and has great motor, which is great in a bench player. Seems to be a good rebounder and try hard on defense, which I like a lot.

Im at peace with this draft. Now if only we could invite a few undrafted players to summer league. There is no Vegas but there are other summer leagues, right?

I really like the offensive rebounding; I think that was our biggest weakness last year, even more than defense.

LOL really had nothing to do with race, the only reason i mentioned the doleac comment and them both being white was that i didn't understand the comparison. i agree with you on the screens and you're probably right, if doleac played with STAT he wouldn't have gotten as many Js as he did. just didn't like the comparison... lol.

kurt thomas i can see...

I like the Josh Harrelson pick. He will bring a lot of toughness to the team. He looks like a bad man.

You don't know what you're talking about and you still didn't answer me you HYPOCRITE!!! Where you one of the ones complaining about a lack of D all these years? How can you complain when we take the BEST defensive Guard in the draft? isn't that our highest priority? This is a kid that can guard 1-3 and be a lockdown defender in this league. How can you bash Donnie for making a pick like that? Our weakest area is perimeter defense. Even more so than interior D and he addressed that and then took a big that had a great showing in the NCAA tourney and is known as a hustle guy. What's the big issue you have with that?

My take is that you don't try to make a guy a defender you want to take players that LOVE to defend if you want to improve.

I don't understand the bitching about Harrellson. What pick would you rather we had bought? A stiff who might get some minutes and some boards is very needed on this team. Let's not jump the shark.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I'm with you man. I'm content with this draft.

I'm not sure there was really a homerun pick available at 17, but from everything I've seen, Iman should be a solid player. I am curious to see how he's used next season, but I can get behind it.

I have absolutely no expectations for Harrellson right now, just because I don't know next to anything on him. But at the very least, he's a big body we can throw out there, which we need. I still hope to see Jeff Foote brought up next season and given a shot as well.

What do I know, though? I was willing to take Selby at 17.

Donnie is good at finding guys like Josh. He's the new Jeff Foster type. Just a bloody nose type of guy that just keeps sticking his head in there no matter how much he gets hit. You need that. He's not tall, long or athletic, but he's got Girth and toughness and desire. That can trump all other factors, just ask Zach Randolph.

Leave, bro. You're the same dude who was all in a huff over Landry Fields last year.

People like you are why people hate Knick fans. Overreacting over nothing.

Honestly, in this draft was there a homerun pick available anywhere? It was deep with role players but there's a pretty good chance that no one drafted tonight will ever play in an All-Star game.
