Early on in the season Dirk showed the NBA why he was a frontrunner for MVP until he got hurt/injured. Now this guy is in true triple threat mode almost like out of anger

how does Dirk compare to Bird? I think that he is a better pure shooter but does not have Birds all around game. The question is how far away is he?

consider the thunder's core...

perkins 26 yo
maynor 23 yo
durant and russ 22 yo
james harden and ibaka 21 yo

perhaps brooks finally had enough of russell's craziness.

WestBrook had a good game up until a few shotty possessions towards the end of the 3rd.

good game or not, that may have been the thunder's best 4th q of the playoffs and westbrook played 0 minutes. they should trade him for a big.

Once again over critical and extremism here. What Brooks should do is what he did. Curb his minutes. Don't give him 38, give him 30 until he wises up.

LOL "over critical". lets get another "derrick rose is overrated" thread going.

brooks took westbrook out with 50 seconds left in the 3rd quarter after another russell specialty (dribbling out the play clock, iso, turnover), smacked him on the ass, and yelled "pass the ball." westbrook then sat on the bench and vented for 2 minutes until mo cheeks came over and told him to calm down.

thunder play the entire 4th with maynor. harden was in a much better rhythm, durant got the ball in places to score, and the thunder rolled to a W.

westbrook absolutely reeks of stephon marbury -- a super talented, incredibly moody and egotistical PG who wants to be "the man" instead of deferring to his more talented teammate, also named kevin.

lets see how it plays out. i am interested to see how westbrook plays from here on out.

the derrick rose comparisons are absolutely insane. the thought of the bulls benching derrick rose is comical, its literally laughable, he's their entire offense. westbrook comes out and the thunder offense is ACTUALLY BETTER!

No one said bench Derrick Rose....

Where did anyone say that?

Real simple here and my point remains the same. Both need to become better at distributing the ball making things easier for their teammates. Look a little less for their own offense.

Rose should be criticized when he shoots poorly in a game, in particular when they lose. Yes Rose has a system built around him and may have to call his number more than other point guards but that doesn't mean shoot 25FGA every other game. They can win games with him shooting under 20. No set rule on amount of attempts but to frequently go over 20 is not in the best interest of their team nor his long term. He needs to learn this now while he still has time.

WestBrook should have his minutes reduced when he doesn't play to the benefit of his team.

OTOH WestBrook should not be traded like you suggested, not at this point at least. If he doesn't change his ways it could happen.

Now they both have different attitudes and approaches to the game but just because WestBrook might scowl and flip the birdie at anyone giving him grief and Rose holds doors open for old ladies, says yes mam, thank you, and says prayers with the family dog every night doesn't mean their common shortcoming as POINT GUARDS need to separated by great degrees.

nowhere did you say bench derrick rose. i was highlighting the difference between westbrook and rose -- it is unfathomable that rose would sit an entire 4th q and the bulls would roll easily. the thunder did; which shows how markedly different their roles are.

i agree with you about westbrook -- brooks should have him on a WAY shorter leash. he had a triple double in a game 7 to advance them; he could be an epic player if he realizes he has the youngest scoring champ of all-time in durant and a more offensive savvy G in harden and all he needs to do is focus on pushing the ball, playing hard D, and scoring only when he needs to.

if he doesn't realize that -- and continues to insist on his awful no-pass iso possessions, they should trade him. you think david kahn would deal kevin love for westbrook? if you're the GM of the thunder, after a hypothetical game 7 loss where another westbrook iso fest dooms them, do you not think long and hard about that trade? let westbrook be the superstar he wants to be out in minny with tony randolph and beasley and darko. you can go with maynor, harden, durant, love, perkins with ibaka, seflosha, collison, and you draft a combo guard (charles jenkins?) to balance out their bench.

i still disagree about rose -- the bulls need that guy to do whatever he can on the offensive side of the ball. boozer has been awful and inconsistent, korver is a liability with wade and lebron so he hasn't played much, so rose really needs to do a lot. the circumstances of this series with the heat means rose needs to score a lot for them to win.

WestBrook's triple double lesson is the same as Derrick Rose going 8-14fg and dropping 12ast against ATL in game 6 for a blowout lesson. He has the same teammates that helped him win 60gms and advance to the ECF. I mean one could somewhat argue during the year he had to do it because Boozer and Noah were MIA but he has a healthy full roster to use at his disposal. Funny thing is when he had scorers like Ben Gordon and John Salmons he was still struggling to get 6ast/gm. I don't see how anyone can separate the lessons here with these 2. You can argue WB is more guilty but they're both guilty. The Bulls players will continue to struggle if there is no rhythm and orchestrating of offense early on by the POINT GUARD. Rose should be closing games by coming on strong after he's set the table adequately throughout the game. Hell I often times see Noah the "center" directing/passing more in the offense than Rose the "point guard"
