Eh, it may not all be Greens fault thats true, but if you expect him to get away scott-free after a blunder like that, you havent met the English media. They make NYK media look like kittens. The knives were out and sharpened. If we hadent gotten through to the last 16 the players might as well have stayed in SA. And Capello too.

LOL. I love the passion the English have for soccer! I know, I know. It's called "football".

Is Rooney getting heat in the media?

A little. A few fools demanding he be dropped. But the normal among us know he'll comne good in the end.

^^^argentina has looked the strongest so far consistently but you cant count out brazil, germany, portugal or englad as well. i think england is due for a turnaround game and that may come with germany on sunday. rooney is due for a good performance so i'm picking eng to upset germany.

the us, meanwhile, if we can get past ghanna, then either south korea or uruguay is certainly dable...but then they run into brazil in the final 4 - game over at that point i think. nonetheless, it would be a historical run and great for us soccer if it went down like that.

imho - the world cup is the most exciting sporting event out there and the fact it only happens every 4 yrs gives it so mush more alure and that much more fllfilling to the team that wins it.

i think the US could very well be the dark horse team in this tourney now after that miracle goal to win their group... they could very well ride that momentum straight into the semi's.

obviously you can't look past teams like Brazil, Portugal & Germany either, & Uruguay has played strong soccer as well, but i think Argentina's offensive attack is just a thing of beauty to watch & those guys really put the pressure on you... not so crazy about what i've seen out of England in this WC but things can change drastically with just 1 strong game in this tourney.

i agree w/u about the WC being the most exciting sports event... it really brings out the nationalism in every fan w/o alot of the hatred that we spew towards hated rivals like when the Yankees & Red Sox or the Giants & Cowboys get together for a big game.

I think the frontrunners are Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands, Germany, Brazil has been and always will be a threat, Argentina looks very strong as par course for them, Netherlands has looked the strongest of the Europeans, and Germany stumbled but seems to be back on track. Spain hasn't really looked great this tournament but I think they will begin to get it together plus they won the Euros two years ago I still think they are a legitimate threat.
The sleepers are Chile, South Korea, and Uruguay. Maybe not WC champions but I could see these teams delivering some upsets.

The pretenders England, Portugal, both of those teams have very tough match-ups next don't see a win for either. England struggled to make it to the next round (if not for Slovenia totally blowing it on the last game), Portugal did well in the group of death but I still see Spain outlasting them.

The toss-ups US, Paraguay, Japan.

But this WC has been so wacky and with so many upsets we all could end up being shocked at the ultimate victor come July.

They need to score soon or the Uruguay defense will get fresh with new substitutes.
