I doubt this is the end. If the idea is to transform into a running/gunning team there are probably a few more deals coming.

The "conditional" pick would be a weak pick... we will still have a first next year. Also, hopefully.. Q will lost some weight. He's could lose ten pounds and get some of his explosiveness back.

really not sure what to think. not sure if i believe it, i would like to see it on a more reliable news service such as espn before i buy into the rumor. i'll be watching game 7 anyway, find out then. until then, a few thoughts

-uh, isn't next years' draft going to be one of the worst ever? we can get value for #30 this year, next year it'll be pretty lame, so if we are giving up the SA pick it's no big deal. need more info, but if that's the case don't sweat it.
-losing kurt for a young swingman? we get an outside shooter, younger and more athletic. our defense gets no better. i'd like to pick up more complete players, but i don't know how much more KT is worth. i'd rather have josh howard, but we'll see.
-yeah, if this goes down i'll change my mock draft to us taking frye.

What's the deal with the other pick we have to give to Phoenix. Next year would be the first year to exercise it right? I think its lotto protected so if we're in the playoffs its as good as gone.

I actually like Q and think he'd fit very nicely with this team. He gives us the outside shooting we need and he's able to post up. The only reservation I have is his shot selection because between him and Crawford, things could get ugly.

I'm actually ok with his defensive abilities. He showed a bunch of flashes last season, especially in crucial moments, where he would come up with a huge block or a huge steal. It seems as if he has long arms, is quick, and is strong to be a very good defender. If we bring in a coach like Larry Brown, I think Q can develop into a star.

More importantly, the trade gives us much more flexibility down the line. KT is aging and we get a younger player who has a fair contract. In the coming years it will be MUCH easier to deal Q as opposed to KT.

What about following this trade with something like Marbury and 30 to the Hawks for the #2 and nab Deron Williams who would be the PERFECT complement in the backcourt alongside Q (and crawford when he comes in off the bench).

At 8 I think we have a couple of options but I think we need to take a very long hard look at Joey Graham. I view this guy as Bruce Bowen RIGHT NOW. If he can develop his offensive game, he can develop into Ron Artest without all the drama. He'll give us the perimeter defense we sorely lack and he'll bring a much needed toughness. In another post, briggs hit it right on the head that we need to address defense and toughness in this draft. Sign Hunter to the MLE and we're looking at....

Marbury, Q, Graham, Sweets, Hunter
with Crawford, Ariza, Rose, Taylor off the bench

At the deadline we can look to upgrade the power forward slot by shipping TT or Penny to a team like Utah if they aren't winning. Insert Boozer into that lineup and we have totally revamped our team and we'll be solid on both ends of the court.

Finally, losing a pick next year, especially if its late in the first round isn't that big of a deal because the draft will be so watered down due to the age limit.

Yep, but with the new minor leagues, the pick isn't that weak, at least if next year's draft isn't. If the deal could've happened without it... We seem to be always the team that gives up the extra first round pick.

for sh!ts & grins.....this is a trade for simple minded knick fans that cant wait to get rid of our best post player for nothing more than duplication at the same position...i'll say it again duplication at the same position

maybe that's why they call em rumors

Basically, it all depends on the pick and how good a defensive player Richardson really is.

Q didn't really have a stellar playoffs and was kind of dissapointing after dmiles left the clips BUT mike dunleavy did say he was one of the stronger guards in the league and hopefully he can use his strength to post up and take advantage in the east.

Come on man, I need a REAL link. I need to hear this from an official source b4 I believe it, I'm sorry lol

But if it is true, I wouldn't be mad as long as we snag a center this offseason. Whether he be a rook or a vet. As long as he can defend, block shots and rebound.....this is assuming that Sweetney steps up his post game to yet another level this summer and into next season. Marbs, Craw and Q would be that 3 guard backcourt Isiah has been talking about. Houston's done!

I'm torn on this deal. On 1 hand i hate KT but on other....Knicks get a player they don't need. Another SF/SG who jacks up 3's and plays no Defense. Knicks can score 100 a game but they'll give up 115.

Knicks prolly have smallest team in NBA if this deal is legit.

My biggest concern about this deal is that it may mean we're drafting Frye.

why? cant sweetney, jyd, malik, and taylor hold down the PF spot? couldnt this also possibly mean that we are darfting a center(bynum) or trading down in the draft to get a proven center. would anyone do M.taylor+#8 for camby+nene?

I said it MAY mean we're drafting Frye. If something else happens, it depends on what else. Regarding Frye, he's a finesse center. Players like that tend to do better in college where they rack up points against teams that don't have anyone remotely serious inside. Against Arizona State, Diogu made Frye look bad twice a year.

Worst trade Isiah has ever done!!!!!
I mean Crawford is a good player but he has a very big problem: he shoots too many 3 pointers. And know Isiah wants another 3 pt chocker to have Crawford's starting job!!!! The only good thing about this, is that we don't need another back up PG with Crawford being the 6th man.
And to whoever said this: if we play Crawford as SG and Q as SF, then we don't need a good post player, because he is not going to get the ball ever. We will just need a good offensive rebounder.
If this is true, we really suck, and this is coming from someone who hates kurt thomas.

You guys are nuts, crazy, loco!!!!! You don't like this deal? What's not to like?!?!?! Were trading away a 32 year old power forward who's under contract till he's 36 (!) for a swingman who's 25! Were tradind away a 6' 9 outside threat who's taking minutes away from Sweetney and our lottery pick for a 6'6 outside threat(three range) who will take away minutes from Crawford, which is exactly what he needs! We needed a swingman who can slash and score consistantly from 3 and we got it! We needed to start using our power forward position in the paint and we got that too!! We got younger, more athletic (there you go Nalod, just for you) a guy at a position we needed and we ooened up space on our team for Sweetney et al. If this deal goes down, we have SCREWED the suns, I mean SCREWED. This deal is so badly weighted in our favor its unreal. So we give the suns their pick back for next year, big freakin deal!!! This trade is amazing. If Isiah pulls this off, he will officially be the best GM we've had since Ernie, by miles. And you guys are complaining!!!

Jeez, no wonder they say Knicks fans are impossible to please! Sheesh!
Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

We need a swingman, but not that kind of swingman.
