Hey, it doesn't mean a lot, but it means something. Watch Antoine Wright tumble like a sack of bricks after finishing 55th overall. Obviously, Bogut's game isn't based on athleticism, but stuff like this has to make you wonder about the guy. When Briggs is asking whether a guy like Frye will get pushed off the block - Frye doesn't play on the block, Bogut does. Not saying this means Bogut sucks, but it clearly has to be a red flag. Guys like Okafur and Duncan really shined in these combine things.

Well, that's funny considering Bogut finished 61/70.

Well, i said Channing's bench press results were spectacular and a real tribute to him, and that Im happy to see that.
But his athletic ability marks were only fair which made him drop.

Bogut ran a tad slow and his strength was middle of the pack, but the vertical jump for a 7 foot supposed stiff was spectacular- 33 1/2 inches.

Frye's quickness and speed upcourt were what I was impressed with for a big guy. He's no Amare, certainly, but he's faster than most bigs he'll be matched up against. eh, I don't know, like I said in another thread, I'm just looking forward to the pick because I have a lot of faith in how Zeke and Suhr scout.

I cant harp about 4 great games after 4 years of play best catagorized as OK. Hell... the year before we got Tim Thomas has a MONSTER playoff series against the Nets averaging close to 20 points and hitting tons of big shots. At one point the Nets were double teaming him with RJ and KMart. If you watched that series and didnt know much about TT you would think he was superstar.

Following the draft intensely for the last few years has anyone else noticed the Frye was never better than a bubble first rounder? Now he's got a solid bench and he's lottery material.

For a guy with his size and athletic ability is rebounding and shotblocking numbers are pretty lame.

Frye can put the ball in the hoop, thats what he can do. If you looking for a tough center or an intimidator in the paint you have the wrong guy.

to be fair, Frye was considered a lotto before the bench press even happened last Friday. It's been rumored for a good two weeks that either NYK or GSW would take him. Yeah, he was a bubble first rounder last year, but Zeke also chased him last summer (inviting him to come to summer league), so maybe he's seen something he likes in the guy for a while now. I think it's fair to say that Zeke wasn't mesmerized by a few tournie games and a nice combine showing - even if I have been.

I'm talking about last 2 years. Before his senior season he was in the 2nd round. After the tourney he was a bubble first rounder or in the mid 20's, depending on who declared. He's never been considered a top flight/lottery caliber player until some great workouts propelled him there.

I'll just say, I wouldnt want to bypass either Granger or Graham and if those guys are gone, Im willing to give Frye a very fair chance. I just hope he can bring it every night. Its good that he was able to put on 16 pounds to 243 and jack his bench press up in 6 weeks. I want to know what the cat has in his cheerios.

Maybe he switched to Lucky Charms.

Either that or he's been hanging out with Jason Giambi recently.

I think people have been misled about this guy's weight. He never weighed anything near 220 in the last two years, as Briggs has said. The Arizona wesbite has him listed at 248 for his playing career. Read this article from the Arizona website:

Frye wakes up every day at 8 a.m. He is at the gym and working out within an hour. His morning workout focuses on fundamentals and conditioning with the idea of replicating an NBA-caliber workout.

At 10 a.m., he moves on to the weight room. For the next two hours, Frye will go through a fast-paced, explosive workout with multiple sets, followed by supersets, and quick transitions to the next exercise.

Following the workout, Frye has to run a mile in less than 6:30 two times per week. After that, it’s on to treatment and lunch around 1 p.m. Every day after lunch, Frye takes 15 minutes just to get off his feet before he heads back into the gym.

The Phoenix native shoots on his own during the afternoon session, which lasts about 90 minutes. Here he works on form, footwork and technique. By 3:30 p.m. he’s on his way back to the apartment to relax.

“We have a lot of good people here,” explained Frye. “It’s a great staff. I’m having a blast and at the same time I’m working hard. I would have never thought I’d be in the situation that I’m in right now. A lot of that was through hard work, staying humble, and just enjoying the moment.

“Too many people get caught looking into the future with a lot of what-ifs instead of taking care of today. If you take care of today and leave it all on the court, you won’t have to worry about what-if because you know you gave it your all.”

Obviously, something is working for Frye. When he arrived in Chicago, he weighed about 243 pounds. He’s already added seven pounds to his 6-foot-11 frame. He has a goal of weighing 255 pounds by draft day.

“I hope people see the progress that I’ve made just in this last month,” said Frye. “Working with the people here in Chicago, I’ve gained seven pounds and I feel that my skills have improved by 50 percent. I’m in great shape, my jumper looks good, and my post game is better. If I continue to stay hungry, continue being a gym rat, I feel like the sky is the limit for me.”

His size, ability and the quality of his work have helped push him near the top of the draft on most experts’ lists. That luxury has allowed Frye to forego many individual workouts prior to the Chicago Pre-Draft Camp.

“I don’t think much will change for me (as the draft gets closer),” said Frye. “I think my spot is pretty much set. I will probably go between four and 11. Where I lie between those picks is where I lie. I’ve just got to work hard. Right now, I’m just trying to stay humble and work towards being the best.”

Its great to hear he is working out hard like that, Im glad. Its very positive because there is like a 95% chance that he is our pick, and he should be a guy who has something to prove.

But for the record, he just weighed in at 243 a few days ago at the draft camp and multiple reports said he put on 16-20 pounds before it. So is this paper saying he gained an additional 7 pounds in the last 5 days? So someone is fibbing! But who cares about that. the good thing is hes working hard and that will help him. If he can truly get himself in gret shape and keep it, he has fundamental parts of his game that should make him play very well.

Briggs that could be said about anyone. Especially Bynum, a 17 kid who had issues with weight, who maybe getting bad advice from his brother (that could a messy situation), and not be yet mature to handle the rigors of the NBA.

I have to think that 16 pounds of added muscle reported by Chad Ford was wrong. More likely, he went from 235 to 242. I mean, Chad said Warrick added 15 lbs of muscle and Warrick weighed in at 215 at the combine. Does that mean Warrick was playing at 6'9" 200lbs? I doubt it. Warrick has always been listed between 210-220. I have to think Chad either got bad information, or some overly enthusiastic info from someone's agent or trainer.

But if Frye said he added 7lbs, I'm going to believe the man knows his own body that well. He said he's added 7lbs since he got to Chicago. 7lbs in 6 weeks, working your butt off everyday doesn't sound too unhealthy, it sounds extremely natural.

If Frye is Etan Thomas, I think I'm happy with him at 8.

Frye just seems to be just like Marcus Camby. I think that he will develop into a good player but not with the team who drafts him, a la Camby. He will prolly get knocked around the first couple years and maybe injured and will move on to a Camby like career. I would rather take Graham just based on the flexibility it gives us with Craw, Steph Himself and Ariza...I mean Graham has the capability to play possibly 4 positions (he is a little undersized but maybe we will see a smaller lineup of Marbury, Craw, Ariza and Graham all on the floor at the same time in VERY small stretches). I think Drafting Graham and Turiaf, who may be strong enough and big enough to play center a la Etan Thomas.

How can Frye possibly be compared to Etan Thomas? Thomas is a pure power player who plays under the rim and has an offensive game under the basket. Channing is a thin, speed player with a perimeter offensive game and will probably be a very good weak side blocker?
