let me look at the stats but I remmeber besides 'The Shot" against the heat Sprewell carried us while defending the other teams best backcourt player. let me check basketballreference.com

This is so off topic by now haha. Says on basketball reference that Allan averaged 17.6 while Spree averaged 18.7 I just think the fact that everyone seems to be blaming H20 and Kurt Thomas for the Knicks misfortunes is a huge mistake, these 2 guys especially Allan have were a huge part of the Knicks success for all those years. Just becuase Layden offered the contract he did, does not make it H20s fault he got paid like that. He has played really well for the Knicks especially in the playoffs throughout his whole career.

no question about it Houston is a fine piece not a franchise but for Isiah to expect the Knicks to be a playoff calibur team with Houston and Kurt in the frontcourt is just stupid. Especially this year when it was clear Houston wouldn't even play more than 20games because after all that time to heal he still couldn't even practice at the start of the season.

Its so obvious that Isiah used Houston as an excuse to save his behind this year. It really pisses me off but as long as he moves forward as he suggested when he said they are not relying on Houston this time and brings in a real SG who can defend and make up for Marbury's defense. or hope Ariza can defend the perimeter the way Spree did while Crawford starts alongside Marbury.

As you know guns, I'm not big on stats, I'm big on what I see from players on the court and I never saw Allan Houston (before last year) be nothing but one of the best players on the Knicks for years, I couldn't say the same about Sprewell whose erratic played led to him not showing up every night(yes he played really well in the finals but so did Allan) unlike Mr. Houston.

yes sprewell looked disinterested after JVG left and had many bad shooting nights because of it. But he was still the guy doing all the work defensively and dishing the ball while Houston stood there looking pretty and shooting jumpers as his defense got progressively worse

why not reacquire Spree from Minnesota? As for them to trade a pick with that deal...Kurt Thomas for Spree and a pick..

Spree's a FA...if you want him you just have to offer him the MLE...but why you would want to use up the MLE to sign a pain in the arse 33 year old SG when we already have a 25 year old up & coming SG on the roster is beyond me.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Building a championship takes time...you have to be patient and you have to spend wisely, which is something that N.Y. fans and Dolan don't know much about. You can still make money while collecting pieces. Isiah has the right idea, but I don't know if his surrounding believe in his him...His approach is the perfect approach, especially given the bad cap situation that he has inherrited. he didn't incur any bad contracts that is longer than Houston's, that to me is smart thinking....TT, Penny, Houston, Mo. T will all expire next season...

Frankly the knicks were a playoff team this year had houston not been injured. the real problem was tiny tim, he played terrible all season long except for a brief stretch when it didn't matter....

the knicks would have been just as good as washington and chicago had they had a coach that knew had to play to their strengths, and run a disciplined offense....

Instead we had Lenny who let players constantly take terrible fade away shots and then play no defense and not be placed on the bench.

As bad as penny was he was a good perimeter defender, and since we really didn;t develop our young players the season was one big waster of time, and the knicks were just good enough not to get a player in the draft that can change their fortunes

That's right, and it was all because I didn't sense nor read that things were happening behind the scenes. But, look here, little moves like resignation of a team doctor or conditioning coach helps me feel better. We need a total overhaul my friends in all areas. We have been bad for too long, that means all of the old heads have to go.

Isiah is slowly but surely adding his finger prints on the Knicks. The last thing that I really want to see him do is for him to hire a coach that he really wants, not one of those pressure hiring type of deal. He needs to hire Laimbeer and go to war with him. Together, they would both be a pretty good tandem.
