His basketball IQ is terribly low, he's all instincs and talant.

knicks1248 - your statement that separates instincts from basketball "IQ" (whatever that is) seems to bite itself in the tail. Is there a better contradiction? The two are the same!

Besides, Ariza's basketball "talant" appears in his positive contributions in ALL areas (scoring, reounding, steals and assists)

A player must understand the game, and possess the skill-set, to contribute in all categories. Ariza does that. And he's not even 20!

Imagine Ariza filling out to Tim Thomas' physique. Or two more years of experience.

"I mean everyone knows 50% of the game is mental 25% coaching, and 25% talant. "

Gimme a break with the "everyone KNOWS" routine.

It ain't that deep. Best five win.

The guy is all raw talant, the difference between insincts and a basketball IQ is that you think before you react when your knowledge of the game comes first, your considered to have a high IQ. Ariza reacts first to every thing, for the 1 and 2 steals he picks up a game, he gets beat twice as many times.

He reminds me of spree in college,( his first year of college)but thats not saying he won't develope into a good bad shot shooter, he just has a long way to go and will probably end up getting traded or opting out when he becomes a FA just like 85% of the league after contract #1.

Why wait, package him if the offers right.

Thing is Spree is still raw and on top of that he still can't go left after what 12 years in the league? And he was still a borderline all-star.

I don't know about Ariza. It looks like I am in the minority but I am not in love with his game. Yes he is not even 20 but I don't think he is ever going to be a starter on a 50 win team. He won't give you enough offense from the 3 position. Unless you are talking about him playing with AI who shoots 30 times a game and scores 30 a game and Ariza is a starting role player who gets 12 and 8 a night. But it would have to be a perfect fit for him to do this and who says he can play defense? He will need to shut down premier SF's night in and night out. He is more suited to be a second string 22 minutes a game guy like a Malik Rose in my opinion.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

We just can't afford to go through next season with Kurt Thomas as either our starting Center or PF. But if not traded before the start of the season, he WILL be one of our starters....pittiful..That is the biggest travesty for this organization. As for Ariza, there is no way in hell that Isiah will ever trade this kid. He and Marburry are beginning to develop some chemistry and next season if we can find an athletic frontcourt player that can postup consistantly and block shots, we will have a much better chance at seing how special both Ariza and Marburry are...

noo... if TT will start the season off great.. IT will not trade him. He can't afford to lose his job.

Bsides... if Tt starts the season off great or at least till all star break... we can trade him and kurt for some valuable asset to the team

ARIZA.

After ONE season in COLLEGE and
After ONE season in the NBA we're
ready to close the book on Ariza's development curve?

Risky.

To entertain the thought, the reward should match the risk.
Who are you -knicks 1248, rojasmas, et al- suggesting we get?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

He put up 11 PPG as a starter this year. At age 19, how many PPG do you think most NBA all-stars would have had had they been thrown into the NBA instead of still in college?
