exactly my point dude...you need a good supporting cast to win in this league...that was my argument all along.

You've pointed out one injury plaqued team that Shaq could possibly not get to .500. Unless you're saying every other team has a "Good Supporting Cast" that hardly makes your point. Shaq would have a good chance of getting even the worst team in the league to .500 if they were not totally destroyed by injuries.

To get back to the original idea of the post - why does Marb take the blame - because he is over rated - at least in his own opinion. If you could trade Marbs and anyone else on the roster for a top 10 player and an average pt guard (I only add this stimulation because our current backups are worse the eisley) and this team is much better then it is now.

Marbs takes the most blame because he has the most talent - and plays further under his talent then anyone on the team who doesn't have the excuse of inexperience.

Do this with any other point guards in the league ande same results...snap out of it. Marbs threw two perfect passes to nazr and he dropped them last night...if that was amare, they would have been dunks and he would have had two additional assists.

Nash has waaaaay better talent around him, and it has nothing to do with marbury leaving. Richardson is better than Crawford, the matrix is better the tt and ariza and JYD (combined).

Marbs is getting the blame because in new york, it's all about blame...he deserves the blame, but he should also deserve the credit for when they were playing above 500 ball. Which, ofcourse, he didn't.
all kool aid all the time.

Truthfully in my opinion there are not a lot of good point guards in the league right now. So if you want to compare him to just point guards I don't think any of them are HUGE impact players unless the situation is ideal for their talents. (Now Jason Kidd from a couple of years ago I think would make this team MUCH better. )But when Marbs came we expected him to be a top 10 type talent and he is not.

He is not good enough to be the best player on a good team. Not unless he decides to live up to his talent. He does NOT need team mates to hustle on defense.

did i not say that you need at least some other good talent around you no matter HOW great you are to bring your team to an above .500 record? the counterpoint being argued was that Shaq could singlehandedly raise the level of his team no matter how bad they may be. NO player in this league can do that, i don't care what his name is.

yes, most teams in the league have at least 1 or 2 other very good players on them, so of course, i think if you added another great player they can win...but that's not exclusive to just Shaq or Duncan...add Kobe to the Knicks & i believe they are an above .500 team, but the Knicks also have some good talent to surround him with in Marbury, Crawford & Ariza.

for the 4th time, i'll say again...you need the right supporting players in any situation...even Tim Duncan had Manu, Parker, Robinson, Bowen, etc...even Shaq had Penny, Kobe & Wade...even Jordan had Pippen, Grant & co.

Yes - but the level of talent shaq needs is only as good as the current worst team in the league - that by definition is very low talent relative to the league. No he can't do it with a bunch of CBA players - or 10 guys who would normally take up the 10-12 spots on the bench. But that's obvious.
