All NBA twice!
3 time allstar. All as knicks. He peaked here. Not in LA or NOLA.
It was a damn good free agent signing. in fact we parlayed him and DDV from free agency and turned that into KAT!
What a freaking bargain!!!!
Nobody thinks he can carry a team to a chip as the lead dog.
Carried some bad teams and led us back out of the dark ages.
Some blaming him for Minny being ousted? They lost to SA without Donte, healthy Ant, Mcdaniels and Dosunmu all with injuries. Prior to a need for him to once again change roles to once again neing the main scorer, he was playing his part well. Similar to what KAT had to do.
When trade was made KAT was considered soft and not worth $60 million. Minny thought Donte and Randle had same value or better. Prior to injury the sentiment proved right by decisive win over Denver and last years run. Many not thinking KAT would sacrifice his game for the sake of the team. We were wrong. There was never a doubt about KATs talent, just his mindset and like Randle, ability to not do stupid things on the court. We all saw KATs desire to win and willingness to play a lesser role. We are all damn happy the way it turned out. Chip proves that he was exactly what we needed. Could Randle have done the same. We will never know.
However, don’t get the hate for Randle or any other former player. Specially ones who took us out of being the jokes of the NBA. Maybe some not around those 19 years of bottom feeding.
Most of all, We are the ****ing CHAMPS now!! Let’s act like it. Leave the hate for the fans of gutter teams. I love my team and would not trade anyone who won the chip. Also love any players that helped us get them all and were part of the rebuild and road to what we have today.
Btw, not sure Donte would want to be back. Like Brunson, he enjoyed having a bigger role.
