At the end of the day, we were up 7 starting the 3rd quarter. Knicks had an opportunity to execute and go on a run that would essentially guarantee a championship. They didn’t. Which includes better execution, shot making and playing connected defense. Fuck all the other noise.

The refs have absolutely impacted these games. It's been as bad as it gets. Not BS at all. Even in the history making game 4 we were sandbagged in the first half. Amazing what a difference the second half was when the whistle wasn't going in the Spurs favor. Anyone who has watched this sport can see how terrible and biased the officiating has been. It is worse today than it has ever been. I truly hope we can finish this run because, I won't be watching this fraud show with as much energy and passion moving forward. I just want one chip before I go.

The steroids hearings were like most things with congress, a fake show trying to make citizens believe they actually care about something they do. But at the end of the day, once the TV show is over, no one cares about what they just made a short speech about.

Think refs will always be influenced by things like a home court crowd, annoying players and yes, keeping the guys that pay their salaries happy when a series goes 7.

I will certainly watch with less passion than I have for the last 40+ years. This garbage is getting impossible to enjoy. We won 13 in a row and officiating in the last two wins was atrocious. We won in spite of that. The game 3 loss was disgusting officiating and they almost did it again in game four during the first half. They let us play in the second half and we made the largest comeback in the history of the NBA finals. Almost as if someone made a call to tell them it was too obvious at that point. Who knows?

It's becoming a terrible product IMO. The only interest I have left is watching my Knicks close out this series. I certainly won't be into spending a small fortune going to games in the future. I will probably always watch on some level because it's entertainment but, I grew up and stopped watching wrestling. Scripted male soap opera. That's what the NBA is becoming. See Danhausen.

In no way does “physically and talented” translate to better than. Shaq was huge. Physically bigger but could not shoot a free throw. However by no means a lesser player than Wemby. Results mean everything and Shaq was one of the best to suit up. Everyone else you mentioned was not 7’4. Wemby is a freak physically. Anyone saying is one of the biggest physical freaks with incredible levels of talent to shoot the ball and exceptional mobility is not being honest.
But again, that has a long course to run before we say he is better than any top 200 NBA player.

In terms of refs, think I have exhausted the subject. As a former player, I will never put decent weight on officiating on why you lost a game. Would rather focus on effort and execution. But that is because the goal was to win the game by focusing on fundamentals you can improve in the next quarter and not complain about the last.

He is not the most physically gifted big man since Wilt IMO. Shaq and Jokic are what I consider big men. Freakishly tall forward/guard is more like it. He is just really tall and it's amazing how he combines height with things guards and small forwards do but, other than being tall he isn't the most gifted/talented there either. That's why I named all of those players. They were freakishly gifted and talented both physically and skill wise for their height.

It's another KP IMO. Improved/better version if you ill. KP didn't have the health. Wemby hasn't been around long enough to crown him anything yet. So far so very very good though.

The Knicks HISTORICALLY get the worst whistle and it's not even close.

Now the league props up star players and small market teams to the detriment of the product. No one wants to watch SGA/OKC anymore. It's fraud. It's a poor product. No one wants to watch Embiitch try and hurt their team anymore either while he flops around like a fish. People got sick of Harden years ago that they made a flopping rule and since, have refused to enforce it. It doesn't have to be about fixing games for gambling but, the two go hand in hand.

For whatever reason...IOW....WHO KNOWS...the league has been allowing the officiating to get worse while protecting the refs from any and ALL criticism. It's like the WWF...see Danhausen.

I will absolutely take a step back because it's a bad look and it needs to be addressed more than tanking does. Expansion is absolutely the worst idea for the league as well but, two more teams incoming to water down the rest of the league. With terrible officiating and meaningless in season tournaments, as well as a dying all-star weekend, I am not going to have the same drive. That's why I want to win one on the way out.

I will watch but, I won't care anymore. As long as we can seal 5e deal this year I will be glad to watch from a distance. Unless they address things and hold refs accountable.

The game has definitely changed and so has the officiating. The defensive game of the ‘90s is loooonnnnnngggggggg gone. If a team played like the ‘90s Knicks today everyone would foul out within a half. Wemby is also being given a star treatment (which I always hated) that he’s yet to have earned. And it’s worse than I’ve ever seen because it’s turning a blind eye to his aggressive and dangerous game. Let’s say he lands that attempt to mess up OG’s leg, does the league flat out ignore it then? Would there be any repercussions beyond and flagrant two ejection?

If this is the new std of officiating, of course they’d debut and feature it against the Knicks. I can’t imagine finding much joy in the game going forward. It reminds of the adage about journalism, that the journalist should never be a part of the story, be it directly or indirectly. Same with officiating. That was 20 years ago and a completely different Congress. Steroids being an illegal drug was also a big deal for the law and order crowd. Meanwhile gambling is all but required now.

I think maybe 70% of the content I get now on YouTube is ads for online gambling sites. Make it legendary.

This Game 5, Town and quite a bit of Anonuby were neutralized with major foul trouble. The refs wanted KAT out of the game, the only way to do it was to job him on calls to try to get him fouled out. The Knicks bench only scored 9 points tonight, but the Spurs were allowed to manhandle the 3rd Tier Knicks units at will. Brunson had to carry this team on his back with 45 points.

IMHO, the calculation had to be made. Adam Silver had no real practical way to hide another Wemby flagrant, which would mean a suspension for Game 6. Since David Stern hated Dolan and hated the Knicks with the fury of a million supernovas, there was no way Silver was going to let the Knicks win a championship at MSG. Very likely the call was made to Scott Foster to let the Knicks play the 4th quarter straight up, for the most part.

What was the X Factor here, IMHO? Mitch Johnson wants to be like Steve Kerr and Gregg Poppovich, overrated coaches who held their jobs so long because the superstar players were comfortable with them and didn't want the disruption of change. Mitch Johnson put out the lineup that Wemby wanted, because like all superstar franchise players, you can run the team if you want. You can decide who plays, who gets signed, who gets traded, who gets re-signed and who gets robbed of minutes and opportunity. Mitch Johnson was thinking about the next ten years of his coaching career, not just this series. Doing what Wemby wants is more important for his perceived job security than just doing the common sense thing to win actual games ( i.e. cutting Fox's minutes some and deploying the bench some more)
