Can't think of another team that has their PG dribble this much in 1/2 court sets...especially with their back to the basket. |

Knicks will be a different team with Deuce and Shamet as depth. But man Kon is a good player. Best in the draft.

Can't win every game and we were due for a loss so I'm not going to go crazy over this one. Hornets have been playing well and they kind of are a bad match up for us. The three point defense is still a major issue. Not sure how you fix it as it seems to be scheme and personnel. Deuce and Shamet would help but if we are going to get back to the conference finals, we will need Brunson to make that extra effort in this area cause teams are picking on him and swinging the ball to where he's got to sprint and close out. Hornets are 3rd in the league in three point percentage and that's concerning in a potential playoff match up.
OG needs to be better too. Cannot score 3 points in the second half after scoring 14 in the first half. At least Kolek finally got some time over Alvarado. Let's be honest. Alvarado has been disappointing. He's shooting under 40% from the field and 30% from three. As a small guard, that's just unacceptable and unplayable. Cannot risk his poor shooting in the playoffs so if I were Brown, I'd let Kolek and Clarkson play those backup PG/non Brunson minutes. |

Now that they know who to put on him and how to pressure him he is responding more often than not by trying to force the situation instead of working it out with his teammates to defuse those pressure defenses. In essence, the more Brunson has to fight his instinct is to push even harder. You see this in guys with the hero ball mentality. It works great some of the time with the game on the line because of his clutchness, but overall it can be a major issue when his over-dribbling drives us into deficits we can't come back from. We saw in previous playoff seasons that comeback wins are some of the most thrilling experiences for us as fans, but you can only string so many of those together until you get sent home for the Summer. The way this team is playing against the better teams is usually comeback and hero balling. It is not a recipe for a championship when the offense stagnates for such long stretches due to one player's over-usage. Brunson has shown me he is not a superstar, only a star scorer. He is not elevating his teammates. He is only bailing them out. That won't get it done. |

Every team with an elite big pg gives us trouble. This is is why I desperately wanted us to bring back Delon Wright. This is one of those games where his defense would have helped. I know he’s no world beater, but I compare him to Eric Snow in that on most teams they wouldn’t be anything special. However for our team like AI’s Sixers, he was a great fit. Last night I would have gone:
Wright Shamet OG Mo Mitch Just to get them out of rhythm at least. Onto the next one. I am a bit concerned about facing either Charlotte or ATL in the first round. Although I expect us to beat those teams in slowed down playoff basketball. Btw, it’s interesting that the Hornets sucked for pretty much MJ’s whole tenure, but are now good right after he sells the team. I bleed orange and blue for life.
