The defensive turn around during this week streak has been pretty incredible. And it starts with Brunson and KAT. Both have been much better. Their man to man and close out's have been really good. Much better effort from them and overall communication from the entire team so kudos to them and Brown and the defensive coach O'Connor.
OG with a second straight monster game. Completely shut down Avdija and kudos to the team for keeping him off the line. He's second in the league in FT attempts and we held him to only 3.
Diawara also had some good minutes and should honestly play over Yabu the rest of the season. I actually expect Yabu traded at the deadline. I like Kolek's minutes too. Have to have to HAVE TO find minutes for him in the rotation. His playmaking is too valuable and Deuce isn't a PG.
That's 5 in a row so give this team credit! Many gave up on the season and thought this team would fall into play-in territory. Totally fine to call them out when they play badly but also have to give them credit when they play well. Most impressed with Brown. Coaching and playing here is not easy and there was a lot of noise during that slump and even some noise now with the trade deadline and Brown has these guys focused and playing well.
Lastly, give KAT his flowers too. He's playing a little too passive imo but can't complain much since we are winning. I do like that he is not complaining as much t the zebras and has stopped driving to the basket out of control which usually resulted in a turnover, offensive foul and him just falling on the floor and the team having to play four on five. His rebounding has been at an elite level too. He leads the league there. That's not easy to do! It takes effort and toughness. I like KAT I think more than most and I still believe in him. He just needs to keep doing what he's doing and find those spots where he can be aggressive offensively. His shooting is coming along (41% from three last 10 games). It's the missed bunnies at the rim that haven't fallen for him. Curious to find out what he's shooting this season at the rim compared to his career and last season. Seems like he misses at least 3 point blank shots at the rim each game.
