Not really fair conclusions here - its more like .540 and his only losing seasons were Ja's rookie year and the season before last where Ja was suspended half the team missed most of the season. Overall his record with this core is really good, he got them winning ahead of schedule, developed a lot of young guys and played a deep rotation. He is a young coach who did really well on his first stop and was definitely the victim of tough circumstances. The front office imposed major changes on him after what was really an out of context season he had little control over. They were fielding G leaguers for the majority of 2023-2024. For most of this past year they were 2nd in the West behind OKC and were 44-29 when they let him go.

Seems like a lot of excuses for the guy that is considered a better chip option than Thibs, who we both know did a lot more here with the Knicks.

The same dismissiveness could be used to say Thibs 13 seasons of head coaching without winning a "chip" show you he is not the guy to get you over the hump and that he is too rigid to ever adjust his style.

The fact is we are where we are and Thibs is not the coach and won't be, so time to move on and evaluate the best guys. Jenkins for a 40 yr old coach has impressive accomplishments and an impressive record. He also has shown he will play a deep rotation and develop younger players with no experience. He is an excellent candidate for the job and probably a big contrast from Thibs. No one knows for sure if he is the guy, but just because Malone and Bud have won doesn't mean they are either.

I think Kleiman was angry at Jenkins for not playing Edey more and he wanted a more traditional coach like Iasalo to run Edey more. Maybe validate the draft position they used in him. The defense was suffering.

No hiring is absolute. You can hire either of the current finals coaches and it won’t necessarily translate to a return trip next season. The starphuch in all of us would enjoy the hope never the less.
