I’m a huge fan of both the Thompsons, but I wonder how valuable they are as complete non-shooters. Untouchable means franchise player, and in order to be a franchise player he has to be able to shoot outside of the paint.

It's possible they will improve greatly - not a sure thing but shooting is one thing that can be improved (excluding Mitch in this comment).

Remember Trevor Ariza's brutal form as a rookie with the Knicks and how he cleaned that up to be a very good 3-D player later in career - his was one of the biggest improvements I remember.

Yeah that’s where my head was at.

As a comparison, KAT is a world class shooter, and a very good rebounder but really deficient on D.

The opposite can maybe be said of Amen. World class defender and probably headed for defensive player of the year rannge with ball handling and tons of downhill capability while being a passer.

Does he have it in him to fix that shot. Mostly that’s all that’s left if you project things out a bit.

The thing has me more confident in Amen than Ausar is that Amen has shown improvements in his touch. He flashes that floater when the rim is walled off. Ausar still looks lost when he can't get to the rim. We saw it a few times in the Detroit series.

Even if he doesn't upgrade offense that much -- he's still a major pain in the ass.

That's why he's mostly untouchable --- too good and so young.
