The 4th - 6th slots in the East are separated by a single game.
In the first round, its a toss up which of those teams the Knicks will play.
Which is your choice and why?
Detroit Pistons
Indiana Pacers
Milwaukee Bucks

Knicks are still not locked into the 3. Magic no.1 is 1, but the Knicks have to face Celtics, Pistons, Cavs over their next 3. Indy with a game against Washington next. MIght take longer to get the 3 than we think.

Milwaukee now a game ahead of Detroit. They play each other twice at the end of the year, but Detroit needs to win at least one of their next 2 to keep this in range to get the 5. Its now looking increasingly likely we are 3 and Detroit is 6. Still Milwaukee could slip and Detroit can finish strong.

If Milwaukee finishes 5th, we may WANT to slip to 4th.
The interesting thing is beating Pistons this week makes more likely Knicks stay in 3rd, and more likely they stay in 6th. At which point we face the Pistons.
However, losing to them makes it more likely Knicks slip to 4th, and more likely they move up to 5th! At which point we face the Pistons.
Its the Piston Paradox!

Slipping to 4th involves losing out and the Pacers winning out. Its unlikely.

It doesn’t matter who we play. We can’t beat our own shadow right now.

Thibs was in a no win situation. If he played his starters, the minutes police would’ve gave him a ticket. Or not play the starters, lose 4 straight and have no rhythm. Can’t win Thibs. Just make it up in the playoffs.

My preferred first round opponent would be any of the crappy teams we have such a great record against in the regular season. Too bad none of them made the playoffs. Except for Bucks. If only we could play the Bucks in every round! We would be on our way to a Championship

We will win game one vs the pistons at home in a easy fashion.
In my mind knicks are using these games to get dudes back healthy and into rhythm.

Im an optimist. Also why get mad at **** that has not happend yet?
I get it, knicks win "they supposed to" and its relief. If not, you mad and want someone to "answer for it". They exacted pain and you need to blame someone. The fan feels hopeless and powerless. Thus the call for firing and the hope someone who won a chip can bring that leadership and repeat his history. Since the hopeless fan has no real knowledge only what they see on tv and fed by the media it would make them feel better.

"Makes no adjustments". This after a loss. if a win "sticks with tried and proven". If loss "Stubborn and won't change".
Facts are not relevant to the emotions of the fan. They are non consolable.

Should we never fire Thibs? Well yes, there are conditions by which it could occur. Yes. When the team won't listen and he loses the locker room. Or, after few playoff cycles with the same core they hit their ceiling.

WE there yet?

Fuck the Pistons. Let them bring what they bring. right now I want OG's finger to feel ok, and if not, im good with him getting cade under control. I don't care about the 5 picks that might or might not be good ones if we finish top 5 in the league because we might lost to pistons. If and when that happens then deal with it. Seems we never happy with Randle, Kat, Bridges, OG adn Brunson these days for some of you who just get all despondent and seem to almost enjoy the swill of misery. Want a new starphuch or forget the bad parts of by gone players game. Divo swagger was cool, but it was not consistent. Randle? Always hurt right? Y'all harped on that Atlanta series with is bad ankle cuz that how that series ended, and of Course he hurt his shoulder and he'd never be better. Now he playing great after an up and down season and we want him back? Who plays center all year long? Sims? Mitch been back just 30 games and with restrictions. Kat is not perfect, just an all star and all NBA.

You don't have belief? Or don't have an imagination? We .500 against teams over .500 but can't beat 3 teams ahead of us. That the big thing and you guys want the coach fired??

Knicks have enough to beat anyone. If they play together.
KAT has to stay aggressive and physical on offense.
OG has to stay aggressive on offense.
Bridges has to stay aggressive on offense.
JB has to see the floor.
Mitch and Deuce playing well will be key.
Payne and Sham hitting threes will be key.
Us getting an upgrade at PF will be key.
Just kidding. Josh hitting threes will be KEY!

Let’s go Knicks!!

Pistons… never been to the playoffs they don’t know the difference in intensity…

Im not worried about the first round . We should destroy our first round opponent

I’m worried about round 2…. Our team is on a trend to fade in the second half that can’t happen in the playoffs .

Situational really, not habitual. Given the roster changes its not predictable.
There are 3 excellent teams this year, then like 10 teams bunched together. Knicks included.
2nd round if to be will have its own circumstances. Lets see how the teams fair before we evaluate the odds.

Be careful. Those are fighting words. You might be jumped saying that too loud.
I think iHart had a huge impact on this team. Devo as well, with his energy and spreading the floor. Josh Hart is not a PF. He's playing out of position, and you can't have him on the floor unless there's 4 shooters around him. Just makes it hard on the offense, if Harts man is playing zone defense. Add Mitch and Hart, thats 2 guys playing zone and 3 playing man. With iHart and Devo, you have to guard them. Will be interesting how Thibs works his magic with these on court rotations.
