Nico Harris and Rob Pelinka have a relationship and were connected through Kobe and Nike. Relationships and connections are key to a lot of deals that get done in this league and others. Remember Ainge and McHale getting together to get KG to the Celts, etc....

Which also could have been considered collusion. McHale wanted KG on the Celtics, if he had to go somewhere.

We got KAT as a bargain.

And OG was a gift.

Anthony Davis is a beast when healthy. That Kyrie/Davis combination fits better.

I think Dallas won this trade.

I'm glad someone thinks this.

I'm not sure what I think- I don't think it's bad as everyone is making it to be. I get Dallas not wanting to give him the kind of money he would have been entitled to and maybe they knew Luka was heading to the Lakers regardless. I do see the better fit, though what happens if Kyrie opts out?

Better fit, for sure and it seems like Davis has been pretty good this year in terms of health.

Was he? Didn't we give up IQ and RJB? And then have to pay $40+M per year to keep him?

Luka to the lakers. What a gift for them. It’s not a knock on AD, but this trade completely bailed them out from what things may look like in a few years when lebron is gone and AD is declining. Luka sets them up for the foreseeable future. Suddenly they can trade their future picks for upgrades without holding their breath. No situation like the Suns are in. Luka changes it all. I get the conditioning concerns, but it’s a gamble you take. This trade is even more lopsided than Randle and Donte for KAT. No matter how smart these execs are, the dumb franchises seem to make questionable decisions when it’s all said and done.

We don't understand something it must be rigged?
That how things work or are we so not curious to figure angles out?
Lets back up here. Dallas wants to win now. A fat luca whose body type is not conducive to his career choice might be seen as one to decline. We looking at what has been which Luka has been great, but he misses lots of game.
Look at Dallas, they have centers and have been playing quite well without Luka.
Dallas sees a time line with Davis and Kyrie and perhaps just OKC as obsticle to finals.
Dallas does not see Luka as sustainable and did not want to pay him.
My take is your going to see this a lot with the CBA as it is. Teams with rebuild quicker thru the draft and with assets to make trades. Look at us. Clippers are playing better than what was expected.

Dallas is going for it NOW. They can play Davis at the PF. With defense oriented 5's they are formidable up front. they can take on Cav's or Boston with that lineup. Perhaps us if we can get there.

Conspiracy. Lets not forget the league owned the Pelicans/Hornets when they rescinded the trade for CP3.
When Lakers got Pau, they gave up other assets to which was Marc Gasol who became an all-star. It jumped start Memphis into contenders were Pau was languishing as the best player on a bad team.
WE forget Lakers had some lean years whilst they were in turmoil with family issues.

If Lebron thinks they are not contending he can walk after this year. He has a 52mm player option.
Last night the man was incredible. Lakers for one night were the better team. They shot above their ave's and played very good defense. Knicks had many good looks that did not fall. It happens.
Lebron at 40 was a marvel to behold.

Both Lakers and Dallas teams were concerned about these players traded. Dallas gets Lakers 2029 1st rounder in the deal.
Luka's defense is pretty awful and Dallas if they can get a sustained run with Davis, and lively back will be tough.
Lets not forget Davis in a rebuild situation likely would not be happy and Lakers would be doing this anyway. His trade value would be lower.

We'll know in a few years how this all pans out.

I'm wondering where Kyrie will weigh in on all this. So this means Kyrie is Batman and AD is Robin. Kyrie hasn't done well in the Batman role in the past.

Don't quite me on this, but the Lakers don't have much control of their picks either. I'm curious how they build the rest of their roster out.

Lakers need a center now. Do they have anything we can trade Mitch for outside of Can Reddish and Bronny James?

They have Luka, Lebron and Hachimura that’s a pretty darn good 3 to have as a roster foundation. The heat were able to win championships with guys like The Birdman coming off the street as bench role players

Kinda jarring

Nets turned 34-year-old Kevin Durant into:

Cam Johnson
Ziaire Williams
2023 PHX first
2025 PHX first
2025 NYK first
2025 MIL first
2027 PHX first
2027 NYK first
2028 PHX first swap
2028 NYK first swap
2029 PHX first
2029 NYK first
2031 NYK first
2025 BKN second
2028 MIL second
2029 MIL second
2030 DAL second

Mavericks turned 25-year-old Luka Doncic into:

Anthony Davis
Max Christie
2029 LAL first

That's unfathomable.

Hach is mid and is clearly behind Reaves in terms of importance. And now they're even worse defensively. I don't see them challenging OKC this year. The year after? You really want to forecast the future with a 40 y/o who could leave? Also, the Lakers couldn't even build properly with AD and LeBron. We're so supposed to think Pelinka is going to up his game now?

Does Boston do a similar trade involving Tatum? How about the Wolves with Edwards or OKC with Shai?I'd say no. If we're going off of player valuation, I'd say this trade doesn't make sense. I don't buy the fat excuses the Mavs are throwing out either. I won't pretend to know the answers, but this deal doesn't smell right.

They will continue to gain future picks each year. Guys will want to go there. It’s not going to be hard for them to build out the roster for the most part.

Doncic and Anthony Davis just got traded for each other wtf
