People make mistakes. Mark paid the price for his infidelities with his marriage. I won't hold that against him. The weird locker room stuff is troubling, but Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Pat Reilly have done stuff as weird. The real issue is his ability as a coach. He seems like a good motivator and I give him credit for that. But his in game strategy seems kind of lacking and it looks worse when you consider how the team took off under Kerr. You can get away with the stuff Jax did when you have a HOF resume. A lot different when you're mediocre. Why put up with the baggage?

We all make mistakes. I get that. But i am not in the camp of not holding it against him, or simply dismissing this stuff as if it's wrong to judge things. I do hold it against him (while also realizing people aren't perfect). We are talking about a stripper and an on-going affair while he's preaching all holier than though stuff. So when you're assessing his character, it's not some momentary, regrettable act (e.g., too much liquor or whatever). it's that he's a big fat phony

and i agree. at the end of the day he's mediocre with a lot of baggage. He also wasn't the nicest ex-Knick so i hold that against him too (call me petty if you want)

Let me ask you a question. What if he Coach Spo was the guy in this situation? Would that stop you from hiring him? Personally, I wouldn't care if Spo cheated on his wife during monthly orgies with Miami strippers. He's a top tier coach and that's all I'm asking for. Cheating on your wife isn't the most reprehensible in the world. I'd have more of an issue if he were billing church funds or banging underage congregants.

I'm not religious or gay, but i think that's besides the point. Adultery is one of the 10 commandments; homosexuality didn't make that cut. Yet Mark goes around preaching against homosexuality while cheating with a stripper. Big fat phony

I do think cheating on your wife (or anyone else you vowed fidelity to) is pretty high up there on reprehensible acts. Above killing, no. But right up there near the top especially if it's a situation where the relationiship wasn't already deeply on the rocks for both parties already -- seems very selfish and a betrayal

I would have a super heavy thumb on the scale against hiring Spo, or anyone else, for cheating and it would take some serious surrounding circumstances for me to remove the thumb. If person was willing to cheat on wife, why wouldn't he cheat on you?

Sorry i know this sounds like a lot of proselytizing, but i am totally not religious. I just think it's a real dirt bag move

This was written a few years ago. It seems fair and balanced without much conjecture. Bottom line is he got interviews. Why did he not over come the issues? My guess is he believes in his beliefs and did not back down. If so, one can think he might be polarizing again. A few good lines in this piece....

You missing the point and I refuse to give this topic the same energy because it’s going nowhere fast.

Mark Jackson deserves better and should be treated the same as others. Everybody made mistakes and everybody has skeletons. And there are people on this earth who has done way worse and hurt more people and still get several chances to return. You see it all the time in all professions including the nba. Jax coaching experience in GS literally destroyed his entire coaching career. Yet he set the foundation and was responsible for drafting Steph and klay, which set Steve up for a home run. From his Stella career as a Knick, and what he’s done in GS, he should’ve gotten another coaching gig. Steven A is talking about bigger stories than what you are pointing out. Regardless of how long your reply is, it’s not aligned with my point which is fine with me. We don’t have to always be on the same page on every single topic, it’s ok.

But i find it very hard to believe that ALL 200 employees did not like Jackson. That’s false and I don’t need any data to back that up. Even if it’s 100 people, clearly it’s an over exaggerated statement similar to other rumors we all hear.

But regardless of that, the author gave Jax his props for helping Kerr turn GS into a dynasty. And calls out the hypocrisy between black coaches and their counterparts. That’s the point SA was making and I agree.
