How did Canada get down so much so early? Germany get hot? Canada cold? Too much passing?

Did you watch the game? Brunson was slick as hell threading passes. He was playing distributer and didn't really try and score that much until after it was a blowout.

I looked for RJ's game but didn't see that it was televised anywhere. Just looking at the box score and highlights I saw the saw old RJ pounding the ball into dust. When I see he was 5-10 from the field I automatically assume that he missed 5 of 10 contested layups since he doesn't shoot from the midrange. Same old head down decision making. He also looks very slow. Basically he looked like the same RJ from the regular season, you know, where he decides what he is going to do when he gets the ball and doesn't read the floor at all. You know he isn't ever going to pass the ball and so does the defense. That's 5 missed layups against what you have already said is not an NBA team.

Canada is a favorite in the tournament right behind Team USA. Canada should meet team USA at some point. RJ is going to get torched on D by Ingram and JJJ is going treat his lunch at the rim. Canada better hope that his 3pt shot is working, but I actually like that RJ only took (4) 3 point shots in that game. He shouldn't be a volume shooter

In closing, I was excited about RJ when I thought he was slimming down but the idea of RJ as a bruising wing who can't shoot next to Randle really sucks. How is he going to stay in front of athletic wings on D? If he wants to be a PF he should get Obi minutes and not share the floor with Randle. It's a bad fit, not enough spacing.

I suppose you thought he'd lose a few LBs and be Sean Elliott? Rudy Gay? is the 3rd pick expectation a thing? its where Jordan was drafted.
In my book RJ is what he is despite the draft spot. The kid to me just has to up his deep Shooting % to about 36-38% and grab one more board a game.
He is our 3rd option. But Im not going to convince anyone nor you to me until the games are played. He has to show it.
I doubt he'll change much but evolve as he goes.

Anyway my point was this - why doesn't Brunson pass more to his Knicks teammates? If you look at the numbers, there is a better chance of something good happening then if he passes the ball to Mitch, RJ or Randle.

Just a quick look. If Brunson passes to RJ he will turn the ball over 2.2 times a game. He is going to miss a 3pt shot 69% of the time. He is going to miss a lay up 57% of the time and he rarely passes the ball - 2.8 asst's per game - and this is on volume shooting. I would rather pass to JJJ, Ingram or Edwards.

RJ needs to develop an old man pull up mid range game.

I thought we would have seen more of a distributor from Jalen this past year. I think there definitely is an adjustment period for Brunson - first time starting full time with the ball in his hands. It's not new but it's a big step up in role full time now that Doncic doesn't dominate everything.

Also, his teammates are still learning too. Mitch is pretty one-dimentinonal, Randle is so high usage and ISO heavy and not for nothing so has been RJ - both guys will need to and have adjusted their roles, slowly. Grimes spending more time on the defensive side of things first and then 3point outlet instead of a movement player.

For me, I think it's just been an adjustment for whole team. I'd expect more from Brunson this year; he has firmly established himself as a deadly scorer and now he can bait defenses with that AND his teammates will now also understand where to be and go while he does his thing. Young team, both in age and in know how offensively.

I'd say with Josh and Isiah really coming on strong at seasons end, as did RJ one can say the last 10 games looked different than the first.
As it stands now a roster mostly the same from last year we could see a very nice continence towards 50+ wins.

I agree, we work so damn hard for shots (iso) but evidently we good at it!
