TPEs are useful for 1 calendar year. So if another player becomes available or you want to make a big trade with multiple moving parts, the TPE and second round picks become useful.

Obi into cap space for 2 second rounders is either a very, very generous move by the FO to find a very nice home for Obi or we have not seen the rest of what is about to shake loose come to fruition

And let’s be honest those leak outs are a mixed bag — it’s also indicative he’s not in the paint for a defensive stop or rebound.

Indiana is not s running team. He would have been better on Sacramento or even Charlotte

I wish no ill will but he might have a super short career. He needs to act like a pf

First off Obi is only as good as his exposure and he wasn't that great. They were talking about trading him for Duarte (another lotto pick who JUST got traded for second round picks). Not a single thing Obi has done has justified him being the centerpiece of any major package let alone a package sending one disappointing first for another. Never understood the Duarte and a first for Obi stuff. Obi wasn't much better.

I am nit an apologist for this front office, they have ****ed up multiple times, but good God. We heard the same thing when they tradesd the pick that was Jalen Duren to clear space (it netted us Brunson), then double trade down a few years ago that netted them Grimes, Rokas, and McBride.

I understand not liking transactions, but can we at least wait to see how this plays out before saying they are incompetent (which they have proven they are far from).

As an individual he is really easy to like and I’m sure he was a terrific teammate but come on, it can’t be the case that the plan is to let obi leak out every play or expect that he will have enough wide open cuts to think Obi would have a big impact

How much impact you expect someone who avgs less than 15mpg to have? We will find out just how good Obi is this next season. He is in a good situation for him so we will have our answers soon enough. Also how quicky we forget those leakouts have to be accounted for. Remember the Cavs coach specically made that point as to why Mitch could dominate on the boards.

In fact, I would’ve been disappointed if we got the LAC first round pick this year for him

I mean the pick never really made sense unless they had a trade for Randle. Haliburton was the obvious choice when we didn’t have a PG and was project as high as 5. I’m happy for Toppin and hope he does well. Just wish we could capitalize on youth.

An argument can be made the Obi pick pushed Randle to become a better player. Halliburton is a stats guy who doesn’t win games. Just look at the kings. Brunson is maybe 30x more valuable

Halliburton just got a max extension, Obi just got traded for two 2nd Rd picks. You really want to make the argument who would of been the better pick for a team who needed a PG?

If Halliburton is so great why did the kings get the 3rd seed in the West immediately after getting rid of him?

How about a lot more for a guy who who was of matured age, has incredible athleticism, and was coming off being the national player of the year. Dude came to the Knicks and literally played scared to even shoot the ball for an entire year.

Anyone mad at Obi for not living up to being the guy we drafted or is it all on the coach to give a guy who was not really impacting a game more time? Obi needed to force the issue and he whiffed big time. Randle was mostly very good too, hard to beat our an all NBA type guy.

This is a dog eat dog world and Obi got those nice puppy dog eyes that flashed when he leaked out but not much after that. Obi sat himself at the 3point line and didn’t do much impacting after that.

Why we waiting on and accepting of a player who can only play minutes when they are handed out like candy? I want a dog who takes those minutes. Hart showed us how it’s done.
