Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has been criticized for his overuse of players, but Randle’s unwillingness to sit predates their time together. Randle has played in every game this season and has already had three seasons in which he missed no more than one game, including two years ago when he led the NBA in minutes played. This season, only Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards has played more total minutes.

That isn't a proactive confession/apology. He got caught.

I dunno. Anyone who “knew” Randle was going to have this season was operating more in faith than observation and statistics. So, holier than thought faith can be self-righteous. But I was in the disbelief crowd. But, I needed him to 1) Take more efficient shot and remove the 18 foot fadeaway (for the most part, he has), 2) take better 3s (he is shooting the same threes better) about 5% higher. 3) Get his teammates more involved and 4) attack the basket more.

Now, a stronger argument is that the addition of Brunson has taken some defensive pressure off him. They can’t double both him and Brunson. And that is largely right. But he is making better decisions and the team is make better decisions around him.

Don’t think this is right. I think the takeaway is that the Knicks starting 5 can hang with the toughest teams in the league and their bench is deeper thanks most.

Please not to think this is not my dominant thought. Randle is iso as much as he did last year. This year Brunson is here to dilute and winning matters. He is hitting his shots better. But the iso is the same.
My take is when it goes wrong, and it will a times (all teams go thru this) fans are more prone to focus on the negative, and this is no different. The “Jab step Boogie” he is doing has a fine line. Last night he seemed slower to engage. This matters. The iso for last two games is ok cuz we won. If not, we’d be “Melo-izing” him again. Randle is a throw back with his jab step iso.

Good and bad, What I also noticed was knicks had to rush shots as the clock ran down. RJ got a few he had to hoist as I believe did JHart. My only critique for IQ was this time management. Credit Bostons Defense but lets just say IQ has more more work to do here. Its nothing new with him BTW from what I see just part of his development.
Grimes looked out of sorts last night. Maybe on the other end of the spectrum he was rushing things?
Defense effort was there adn he got a few bad calls against him. Seems some lack of experience in the nuance of the game is apparent.

Right on. If JR doesn't fix his technique of trying to go one on one with his back to the basket we'll be in a lot of trouble. It's been going on all year where he has no sense of court awareness and gets pick-pocketed from his blind/ weak side. There is much film on this and I'm guessing future teams will continue to exploit it.

I really don't know much about that guy.

Simple equation:

1. No excuse for what he's owning up to after the fact(and no Mike Breen, passion doesn't excuse it)
2. I'd take it as genuine in October.
3. Offered in March with Randle as an MVP candidate and immediately after hitting a game winner ... ummmm, no. Save it. He'll do it again next chance he gets.

We do need a keen nickname for his back to the basket turnovers at the end of regulation. You know Head down, triple teamed, not gonna pass it and everyone on the court knows it. Spinover was pretty good. Something like “GameOver”. Or LameOver. TTT - triple team turnover. Got to trust his teammates to make the open shot.
