Carmelo Anthony was here for what, 7 years and ranked 24th All-Time in Knicks Assists with 1,328 but yet Julius Randle has yet to complete his 4th year as a Knick but yet already ranks 28th within Franchise History @ 1,226 Assists? Only 102 Assists behind Melo with another 3+ years to pass him?

Heck.

Everyone's favorite and beloved Allan H2O Houston ranks 18th All-Time in Franchise assists with 1,476 despite 9 freaking years of play with our Knicks but yet Julius Randle hasn't yet completed his 4th year but already only 250 assists behind H2O?

Julius Randle 1st 4 years as a Knick:
262 Games.
1,226 Assists.

Vs.

Carmelo Anthony 1st 4 years as a Knick:
239 Games.
735 Assists.

Allan Houston 1st 4 years as a Knick:
295 Games.
752 Assists.

Latrell Sprewell 1st 4 years as a Knick:
277 Games.
1,005 Assists.

PATRICK EWING 1st 4 years as a Knick:
275 Games.
519 Assists.

Etc.
Etc.

So as we can see, maybe the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell and (my favorite Knicks player of All-Time) #33 Patrick Ewing were all unwilling passers and/or BALL HOGS but guess what?

Julius Randle doesn't deserve to mentioned within that same type of category.

PS:
I absolutely loved Carmelo/H2O/Spree/Ewing (just making an observation in order to prove a Julius Randle, point).

Randle looks to not have aged a day since he was 18! Looked 30 even back then.

2020-2021 might've been an All-Star Season for Julius Randle but he's now having an All-Star Career Year here in 2022-2023.

24.9 Points Per Game = Career High.
10.8 Rebounds = Career High.
4.2 Assists = 3rd Highest of Career.
2.9 Turnovers = Fewest as a Knick.
.460 FG% = 2nd Highest of Career.
20.9 Player Efficiency Rating = Career High.

Yes.

Julius Randle is having an MVP type of Season.

MVP Voting:
1.) Nikola Jokic.
2.) Giannis Antetokounmpo.
3.) Jayson Tatum.
4.) Joel Embiid
5.) Luka Doncic
6.) Kevin Durant.
7.) JULIUS RANDLE.
8.) Domantas Sabonis.
9.) Ja Morant.
10. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Yes.

Julius Randle is an NBA SUPERSTAR.

And he's doing it under the bright lights of and/or under the PRESSURE of NEW YORK CITY.

I'm not down on players and I'm in no way down on Randle, but this is apples and oranges, and in Ewing's case, apples and rocks.

NBA offenses were completely different in that era. When the ball went into Ewing in the post, really wasn't supposed to come out.

Even Sprewell and Houston's career were pre-3 point revolution.

Only Melo is in a conversation comparable to the era in which post players are expected to move the ball to the perimeter open threes as systematically as they are now.

It is what it is. Lots of Obi faithful and many that just do not appreciate what Randle brings to the Knicks.
Telling that the "Trade Randle" was/had over 14 pages. Yet we get one of our own in the All Star game and 3 pages is all the excitement we can muster.

This is awesome.

Julius Randle (already) ranks 6th in Knicks Franchise History with 505 made 3's (despite not even completing his 4th year as a Knick just yet).

He'll pass Carmelo Anthony for made 3's by the end of next year for 3rd All-Time.

Good for Julius! Had to reread that Shams tweet a few times to make sure I got it right!

I can see this going either VERY good, or VERY bad. Will throw some money at him on FanDuels though.

Excited I can still catch him All Star weekend without having to sit through the actual AS Game on Sunday.

Going to be an interesting situation for the fan base when Randle becomes one of the all time greatest Knicks someday. Outside of ewing and a few of the 70s guys.

Those gaudy stats will mean a lot more with a few good playoff runs, not necessarily a chip'.

Melo might be statistically one of the greatest Knicks. But the lack of playoff success doesnt make him one in my book. If Randle helps bring back the days of the Knicks going deep in the playoffs, he should be on that list.

These guys are not robots. And it’s amazing how quick the mentals can impacts your physicals. The human body is amazing. But big ups to Randle playing like an nba star ready to take the next step. What a great example for RJ and others to follow. They all seem to rally behind him. Thibs is probably the best coach for him. Doesnt do any knee jerk reaction roster moves just from one game. He’s a players coach which gives his players he likes a long cord to figure it out.

I have to admit he’s managed Randle very well and it’s paying off, then add the pieces around him like hart and we have something special right now. Growing in front of us as we speak. Save some for the playoffs though. That’s where he will show even more growth. With a perfect way to end a great season, a playoff series win.

Before the emphasis 9 man rotation, I was thinking one of these three have to go (thibs, RJ or Randle).

Fast forward and Randle took the horn by the bull since then. RJ has regressed and Thibs has progressed. So one would think RJ is the one who has to go, but I change my stance now to due not only the 9 man rotation stance, but josh hart is making this second unit dangerous and relieving pressure off of IQ while giving RJ another player to learn from and watch in crunch time. So I like RJ in development and the team is led by JB and Randle with thibs as the respected wise one who single handedly turned this team around and the FO adding hart was the icing on the cake. It’s like a beautiful painting coming to form. While myself and others where in the kitchen tasting the food too early. This team chemistry over a 4 year span is looking good. I would hate to do anything to crazy to mess that up. Balance is hard to achieve or sustain in the nba without a superstar. Enjoy it now.
