The problem with trading RJ Barrett is no NBA team want all Barrett's flaws.
I'm so angry with Leon Rose for giving Barrett an extension SAD

The Knicks having a healthy Grimes and Quickley skills at the 48 min SG position, plus sitting D.Rose dynamic combo skills to backup Brunson or Grimes (replaced by Deuce McBride). That take away Barretts minutes at any of the guard's position in the Knicks 48 minute rotation (6 game win streak!).

Taking SF Cam Reddish 2-Way hustle performance out of the rotation in his contract season to give RJ Barrett 34, or 36, or 44 minutes of playing time at the SF position to keep on TRYING to get chemistry with the 8 teammates in the rotation at the SF spot. Good Luck!
NEWS .. Barrett's selfish talent haven't had any type of chemistry with any of his teammates in the starter lineup in 4 straight seasons SMH

Did RJ not sign your autograph?

He tried, but you know how RJ is when it comes to (ball) point blank(paper) misses.

I like lavine a bit but he’s not as good a player as Randle. Not as healthy as Randle. And makes
more money than Randle. By all means let’s trade Randle for lavine!!

Again, some of you are flat out nuts when it comes to Randle.

How much more can Randle do?? Hes a 20 and ten,and on some days much more than that. Right now I feel I like his contract, considering some of the crazy money being thrown out there now. We are inna a 6 game win streak, IMHO ride out up until the trade deadline, look at their record and THEN see whos out there. WE have a chemistry, lets ride it out and enjoy the HELL out of it.

I'd like to trade for Alex Caruso. He would be good as a rotation wing behind Grimes and RJ.

Be clutch, wasnt last season. Isnt this season. Our number one scoring option has been too often, a liability in crunch time. I see that as a problem, especially in the playoffs.

As I wrote in another thread, if Randle was the 3rd or 4th option. If we werent relying on him so much. That would be different. I doubt we will be in that position in the near term. Believe its better to sell high.

I’m in this boat. Any trade that involves Randle and Lavine as the major swap points is insane.

Agreed. And Levine doesn’t move the needle for this team even if he replaces Barrett or grimes. The team would be more talented but sacrifice some identity and the adjustment would offset the talent upgrade. I’d rather get someone like Kelly Oubre for cheap who can do 75% of what Levine does as a 6th man. Oubre will get his 20 when needed, not disrupt the chemistry as much, and had a pretty good defensive reputation prior to going to Charlotte. Levine just falls into that slight upgrade but not worth selling the farm for category. He’s a lesser Mitchell, Booker, Beal, SGA etc for what he would cost.

Well, I'd say now it is. A healthy Lavine and Randle now are close, down to the low bball IQ. I'd probably give Lavine the TBH, but it would probably be a lateral move and that's before the money comes into play. But the Lavine we saw the past two games...he replied way too much on difficult two-point shots. They look good when they go in, but they'll destroy an offense over the long haul. I would revisit if Lavine shows more athletic pop over the course of the season, but I'm pretty sure you can reel in a better offer for Randle at his current value. Randle is like crypto. You need to get off at the right time.

Randle can be a knucklehead but he’s our knucklehead and at least he does go thru periods of playing decent D and won’t miss 20-30 games a year while making about $10m less coming off of surgery all the while blocking minutes for guys like Grimes, IQ, McBride.

Would much rather have Caruso off the bench he’s a winning player and plays great defense.

I think small targets right now, Gordon to shore up the bench would be huge.

Can’t trade guys that play for guys that don’t. His knee isn’t right.

But Caruso would have no role. We have IQ and Deuce. It’s got to be a big wing or forward.

I do not think a team with Lavine as its centerpiece is championship-caliber.

In all fairness, neither is a team whose centerpiece is Randle, or, as it increasingly looks, RJ.

But in any case, such a trade would not help the Knicks become championship contenders.

So, why do it?

Trade one problem for another?
