I find it funny listening to sports shows. Even though we have better picks and more of them to trade to get Mitchell we MUST give up RJ but the heat don't have to give up Bam or Butler.

What we need is a plan. How do we keep the depth?How do we keep the core? Are we going to need those picks to replace IQ/Obi/Grimes(please keep him out of all the youth)If we pay all of those guys it's either hit or miss. Championship or capped out road to nowhere.

We have major flexibility now. That's worth a lot. I am not concerned about fit as much as I am concerned with continuity. I want to develop the youth and raise the team performance and player value in the process. On the other hand we have youngsters galore and we might not be able to properly exert full value from the future picks. Grimes is a starting SG in this league. 2way player, the Championship kind. Yes it's going to take him a couple of years. He might be just as valuable as Mitchell in due time.

Anyone saying we trade Randle and some role player or a few role players and a couple of picks are, in the words of Steve Urkel, wrong-ong-ong. You’re wrong-ong-ong.

It’s going to take Barrett AND Randle AND MANY picks and a couple of really important young players that’s going to potentially make us suck for years, thus making Utah even more benefited and the Knicks even more shredded.

Stay the f’ away from Ainge. Learn from the Nets mistakes. Learn from our mistakes!

I hope you are all right. Mitchell is a great player - maybe last year's playoff performance was driven by overall uncertainty with the org, as we now see Ainge come in and clean house so to speak.


And I am in agreement with Briggs statement during the finals about Boston - they were big and tough defenders- they just lacked experience and maybe a lethal shooter or two.

I like our youth and depth. Give them another year with a real legit PG and then you can explore a trade at the deadline or next off season.

Pass on Donovan. He doesn’t meet a need. The trade will deplete the Knicks similar to the way Melo did. We have young players that need time to develop and become a team. You keep going after the flavor of the day they will keep the youth on the edge and performance will suffer until trade is made. This will lead to a poor start and overall the young players will not feel wanted and when players feel that way the effort is not going to be stellar.

The Knicks need to think about hat they have and not what others have.

I know Rose isn’t keen on moving a lot of picks, but if there’s a guy, I see Mitchell being that guy. He’s a former client and hometown kid. Rose sold this dream when getting hired. Mitchell, Brunson, Barrett and Randle is on paper the team he wants in terms of his connections and relationships.

I have not come to a final decision but I think I can't trade young core and a boat load of picks. It will leave us depleted with no way to improve roster. If we can keep the core and trade a bunch of our picks I can roll with that because we can improve through development at least.

So why would NY even consider trading RJ for most anyone if he’s got the defensive potential, after seeing the Warriors vs Celtics? You need big guards who can defend.

We would have to trade a good portion of our core because why then would Ainge want our picks? He would want our picks if he knows we are going to suck. Forget about the picks coming from other teams. I don’t think those are highly valued.

Trading RJ sets us back because it crumbles our direction and puts us in a hole at SF.. We don't need a SG. We have Grimes and Fournier. Problem is we don't really need any position at this time but it's nearly impossible to figure out if we already have the players to build a contender.

I don’t fully disagree but that Washington pick is likely going to covey in the 15-16 pick range which isn’t bad and that Milwaukee pick in 2025 is very lightly protected (top 4) and you’re talking about a team heavily dependent on Giannis health as he will be 30 with a lot of mileage on his body. Those 2 picks do hold some value.

A key factor for any successful negotiator is not to focus on YOUR problems but instead to focus on the other guys

if we focus on our problem; we'll say we need talent and be prone to overpay for the talent

if you focus on Utah's, they are creating an increasingly negative situation for Donovan. they got rid of Gobert so the team will be worse, but they still have enough talent to not suck. SO they'll be paying him tons of money for edge of playoffs quality team. Donovan won't be happy, things will get toxic

who else has the picks and assets and DESIRE to want Mitchell. I still don't see what picks Miami will give, and then they need to figure what happens with LOwry and oladipo.

And on top of all of this, any team has to rightfully wonder what's happened to Mitchell's defense which seems in clear decline (at least according to the eye test)

My offer would be something like 5 future firsts, a couple of seconds, Rose or Fournier, one of Obi/IQ/Grimes and that's it. I'm not giving up RJ and I'm not offering unprotected picks. Maybe one unprotected but that's it. Utah can take it or leave it.

But if they are looking for an insane package of RJ, Obi and IQ plus 3 unprotected picks, I would hang up the phone.

In order not to give up RJ....you are going to have to unprotect picks....the advantage for us is that RJ is due for an extension....does Ainge want to pay that or flip RJ for something else.... J Macri was saying that Ainge probably wants picks like he did with the Nets...I do not recall the players Boston even got back just the picks that turned into a Smart, Tatum, and Brown...i think there are two leaders in the club house us...and the Pelicans....because Ainge is betting that both teams will crumble 5 yrs out

Than they should have either traded him during the draft or wait until next draft for a pick already set. You’re not getting a likely top 5 pick in a trade at this point in the year. The Celtics/ Nets trade from 10 years ago was clearly the exception, not the rule. There’s Houston’s haul from the nets but it’s unknown right not what that will turn into.
