maybe we should have twisted RJ's ankle at the beginning of the season, maybe we wouldn't be out of the playoffs.

the time away probably helped him reset some. I thought the last time he had a burst in good play earlier, it came after missing a game or something with covid.

He had an excellent game against the lakers before the injury

RJ really has shown flashes of the It factor this season

Second. Why is RJ coming back not fully healed? WTF is this garbage? Are we making a playoff push? This is tttteribbhle!!! Whoever is responsible for that decision should be fired on the spot. Why are we risking a chronic injury here? I am pissed.
Since I am ranting, third. Burks is back at PG duty. I have no words. I guess it helps our tank. But Thibs thinks it's gonna get us wins. Hello, it's reality on the line, may I please speak to coach Thibs? I am sorry, coach Thibs is currently unavailable as he is away in delusion land. Please call back next season.

Fired on the spot? LOL, 46pts. 21 years old.

You know there are people out there who don't know that the oil in the car needs to be changed, like at all. When others tell them they probably LOL in response in a similar way you did, and say things like : my car goes from 0-60 in 4,6 seconds!!! I had never changed the oil since buying it !!!

What I am saying is, just because it works now it doesn't mean that unrepairable damage isn't happening in the process. How many minutes did he play? Did we at least win the game and get closer to the play-in? I wonder what Grant Hill would do .

Shut him down for the season becasue you read he had discomfort and you really have not looked at both Xrays, and demonstrated the correlations between Grant Hill and RJ? Your being stubborn (llike most of us) to back your point up.

Say we want to play youth to develop but RJ is not included?

So in the last 20 years not one young star player ever played with ankle pain? Of course they did. Did they all get chronically hurt? Of course not. You would have read about it. Grand did and your read about it.

Good for you to be mother hen and protect him from the evil clutches of his greedy coach! Thank goodness you can help RJ Sr who knows a thing or two, His agent, perhaps he also gets a second opinion from a doctor, and of course uncle Steve (nash).

But your read he was in pain.

Fret not, we just messing here! I agree, it would suck if he was chronically hurt but lets give some measure of competence to RJ, the medical staff and his support system. Just because we have not read it Im sure if RJ and his camp are pissed at Thibs/Knicks they will voice it but it might not be in the media.

Im a big RJ fan and all along have been thrilled with is incremental progress despite inconsistencies. not all have agreed. Thats ok, the jury was out and he is proving his meddle.

something clicked with RJ this season once he got over his December illness. For all the shyt this season is this is my bright spot. The kid is 21 years old and he went toe to toe with Jimmy Fucking Butler and lit him up. With an ankle that hurt. Or so he says? Maybe he said that to get in Jimmys head? Heat Defense killed knicks last night. That team is so much better than ours. I was not upset losing to them. We did not lose, we got beat.

I like Jimmy Butler a lot. Last night was a big one for RJ. Not sure what he drives but I assume if he don’t change the oil his dad will look after it1!!!!!

The uncle fed him steroids which is why he looked so much quicker last night facing the league’s best defensive team

This was after I had pulled myself from Game 2 against the Heat. At that time, when I found out I had broken my ankle, as crazy as this sounds, I was relieved. I finally had some confirmation, I finally had proof that I'm really not making it up."

I am not suggesting RJ's ankle is broken, but our medical staff doesn't have an especially good track record over the years. I would rather hear he is pain free when he returns.

isn’t that a bit antiquated statement regarding the medical staff? What track record do we have that confirms this? How does one measure this?

What falls on the player as to his healthy given that players age and history? Kemba had chronic issues and came to us with them.
Noah? The dude did not really work at it did he?

Is Franks issues due to our staff or just him? Do we rush players back? Does our Staff pressure players?
How do we quantify the staff? What changes to the staff have been made over the years and the record they have?
If you have a roster of older players one might expect issues. A younger team not so.
Has Mitch issues been “Mishandled”? He Does he put in the work to keep his injuries minimized or he just doing much better in a contract year? I don’t know? Just wondering if your statement has validity to it.

Just because RJ has pain does not mean he sits the season out. Does he want to play? Can he play? If he does is it irresponsible? Players play thru pain. Its part of the job.

Please see Derek Rose's ankle. Is that proof enough?

How was it mishandled?

If it was mishandled that’s on the medical staff. Personally I didn’t want to resign him to anything other than a 1 year deal and that’s probably all he could have gotten on the open market

RJ was never going to sit out for long. He has been our best player this season and he is playing for that max rookie extension. I anticipate RJ will have 6 or 7 more 30+ point games before the season ends and Knicks will offer him the max extension this summer.

I agree Knicks absolutely need to extend RJ this summer. We need to nip the Porzingis 2.0 scenario in the bud

That's setting everyone up for failure or really not understanding what the process is for someone like RJ. Those guys typically don't extend in the summer before their last year for a lot of very obvious reasons.

This thread aged so well.

Wonder if Thibs wants to shut him down for the rest of the season.

Yes! Because there are no long term consequences of playing through pain, like ever! Let's come to all the conclusions we ever need after a game or 2!

I said the Knicks would offer him a max. Whether he takes it is another question, but every player wants to be offered the max rookie extension.

If we are letting Mitch walk for nothing why not also let RJ do the same?
