It depends. If the FO identifies someone they like, then should definitely try to move up. But such a move should definitely done within reason. If moving the first rounders gets you into the mid-lower lottery, I'd have no problem with that move. But that doesn't seem likely.

Davion Mitchell is slotted at 10 and I don’t think Cooper goes before him. I could see Cooper being selected at 14 by Golden State. I could also see Washington taking him. I don’t think the Knicks are moving up for him. I don’t think the Knicks are going to package 19 and 21 to move up to 14 or 15, and I would not want them to make that move. I think their approach will be if he falls, he falls, if not, we will draft someone else. If we could trade 19 and 32 to move up to 14 or 15 then they might do that. However, I don’t know that we could make that move as I am not sure that is enough value for Golden State or Indiana to give up their pick. We probably would have to throw in Knox and maybe a future second round pick, which turns into a lot to give up for Cooper. If we could move up to 15 for 19 and 32, I would do that if our scouts really believe in Cooper’s potential. I don’t think it makes sense to bring in 3 rookies, and we have to hit in this draft.

I'm in this camp. The fact that draftniks say there's a lot of parity simply means that in the abstract they can't place one person definitively ahead of another. But in the context of the Knicks and what they're trying to do someone might have extra value and be worth the move.

Remember when Suns drafted Cam Johnson and caught all that flak for over-drafting someone they could have gotten lower (according to the experts), or how we overdrafted IQ.

Personally i still like the WTF picks because it at least exhibits independent thinking, rather than the lazy "I can't believe player XXX fell to us"

Trying to get on board with Cooper, but I keep coming back to a) he got his shot blocked more than anyone in college and b) slow release ugly outside J. Not a lot of wingspan means he might be tough to hide on D. I think he's a real floor general and a great uptempo PG, but do you wind up Sebastian Telfair here? If he works on his floaters and makes his jumpers more workable, he could prove to be an absolute steal. Its a tough call.

I think you look at Tre Mann and its a simpler translation into his NBA role (though lower upside as a playmaker).
