Trae Young is a superstar. I don’t think anyone in the league has an answer for him.

Once he beats his man the Center has to step up to stop the penetration, once he commits, back door ally oop

I think the only way you can defend him is to give him the 3. He does more damage to you when he breaks down your defense. He seems to always make the right decision after the PNR or after he drives past his defender.

Atlanta is falling short here tonight.

I'm wondering is Trae Young better than Luka? Starting a team, do you pick Young over Luka.

He is so quick.

Based strictly on talent...Luka, and I don't even think twice about it.

Even giving him the 3 hurt Philly. They got no answer for him.

Yep. If anything, it makes the Atlanta/Dallas trade go from a disaster to just eh. It's not nearly as bad as picking Bagley over Luka and Trae. That's some depressing stuff to think about if you're a Sac fan.

You may not stop him on offense, but you can slow him down by making him work harder on defense. His midget height is obvious fodder to be feasted upon by a bigger guard in the low post, the way Jax abused Charlie Ward in the Indiana series.

Where is my NBA head coaching gig? I'll show 'em how it's done!

Luka talent is amazing. The dad bod thing might be an issue in a few short years? The euro trash diva thing as well?
WTF happend in Dallas that Carlisle walked away and the blew up the front office?
Does Luka have his Janis but with this guy you keep the player?
KP been very quiet as he likley heading good advice to do so. He does not have all star diva cred anymore.

“The Trae” worked for both teams as they got franchise players. If cam Redish can get his career back on track that might tip the balance. Luka is incredible but is he making others around him better given his high touches?

We might need 5 more years to make this call. Luka is the better player but ATL a better team.

When you inject the team into the equation there are a ton more variable to factor in. But yeah, based strictly on talent and who is the better player, to me it's Luka all day. Is it a coincidence Seth Curry is looking like Steph Curry in this series?

Funny thing is that KP and Janis said the Knicks FO wasn't run right and was too dysfunctional. Then he signs with Dallas whose history, sexual misconduct included, isn't really that much more pristine than the Knicks. And he doesn't hold nearly as large of a juice card. Sorry to digress into another KP thread, but homey...

I discount the harassment as its not a player related issue. The issues are not Donnie, or the coach but the big picture of them all together perhaps? I dont know. We don’t know.
I’m guessing KP on the court is not helping and this can’t just be about just that. Donnie been with the team a long time thru good and great times. You don’t fire a dude because he made a bad call. He has proven himself many times. Same as Carlisle.
To build this team then figure out its time for a new direction with new blood in the FO tells me Luka holding them hostage and pulling a KP like “Either fix this FO to my liking or I’m gone”. This is massive because Luka just gutted the culture that has been in place. Not a failing culture that was knicks, but one that for a long time did pretty well. Once upon a time even pulled a championship out! Carlisle is and has been adaptive in his long tenure. ITs a players league. We all know this.

I included the harassment, because it's indicative of the dysfunction in the organization that's come to light. Yeah, they did get a championship, so there's that. But some of the things that have come out from that organization don't paint the prettiest picture. As for Carlisle, I don't really hold that against Luka as much. Yes, Rick was successful and he's proven his mastery as an X's and O's guys. But he does have a reputation as an @$$ and control freak. He grates on players. Also, I'm not sure Luka gave the ultimatum. It was headed in that direction, but I think the Donnie thing was a direct result of the gambler dude undermining him. Rick saw the immediate writing in the wall and left.

Good points and likly accurate on a lot of it. Carlisle might have seen that 13 years is enough and with new Team Pres coming in its was time to move on and he’d likely not gel with Luka given the personalities. With many job openings his agent got a feel that Rick is a desired commodity and best to control his situation now. At age 61 4 mores years in a new gig might be just might what is needed. Take Pels to new level and a love fest for Zion? Indy were white bread is the preferred type? Orlando? Who knows?

I’m loving me some Kevin Huerter right now. So proud of him. He’s come a long way since his Maryland days!
