Kidd probably prefers the Boston job given his age and the age of the core there. Now anyone that accepts the Portland offer will essentially be viewed as the second choice. While Portland will say their search was wide open, they absolutely hire Kidd if he wants the job. There's just no reason not to if Lillard is pushing for him. Not a lot of obvious coaching candidates on the market (that can definitely change of course) and Kidd was the guy who stands out given his experience, respect from players, and age. Kidd isn't an ideal candidate for every job (like the Knicks last year) and we know he has his power-hungry tendencies, but he's as good a candidate there is on the market for teams with an opening right now. Lillard publicly pushing for him and him not even interviewing is a bad look for Portland. |

![]() Listening to the Lowe podcast, he suggested (if Sixers flame out), Dame for Ben Simmons and stuff, which would probably make a lot of sense for both teams if the Blazers can’t placate Dame this offseason. We can’t match that.

![]() Dame is not the move for this team , we just got beat like a redheaded step child in the 1st round. Dame is a move you make when you are in position to compete for a chip. plus there is still the Nets with 3 legit superstars on their roster , then you get into what we would give up no fookin way. Sign Lonzo keep building our young players and hit on draft picks like they did with IQ , when the Nets get old and start fading (it will happen) we will be entering our teams prime if we play it right. Culture built we will be able to get a top tier player when the time is right.

We can’t match that. Even then, what are you left with considering his outsized salary. Unless it's a completely lopsided trade for the Knicks, I just can't see how you build more than what Dame had in Portland (if you could even get to that level).
