I thought yesterday Dame was all in on Kidd with the whole “from Oakland” vibe in full mode.
If so he stays.
Perhaps Kidd does not want to walk into scenario where Portland is limited in what they can do and Dame wants out after one more season?
Or Kidd is the puppet master behind Vogel soon to walk the plank and Kidd runs “showtime 2.0”?
Weird......

Does it seem like anything Jason Kidd is involved in gets weird?

Ha Ha, thats true. Perhaps his agent is working with another situation he prefers. Sacramento?

Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

If Kidd, who wants a head coach job, is turning down Portland that’s a bad sign

Blazers have him under contract through 2024 and he’s Mr Portland right now. They will hire Kidd. He’s going nowhere

Kidd just pulled out of the race to coach the blazers. I think David vanterpool gets it as Dame has been pushing for him to get the job or a darkhorse candidate is our very own johnnie Bryant. He has a good resume with coaching stints with snyder and thibs plus has a solid relationship with dame

If Lillard was 25-27 I’d say sure go hard after him. Offer Obi and picks. But he’s too old now

Did Kidd clown you? Confidently you just stated Portland would hire him. Like you know him and what up?
Lillard statement after the game might have been about Stotts pending departure than him wanting out.
Everything he has said leading up to this is he is loyal to Portland. Things change over night.

Sounds like Kidd got word Lillard is a goner.

Lillard isn’t just non the wrong side of 30 he’s also got miles on him. He was 3rd in the nba in minutes played this season after Randle and RJ who are both younger

He is same/similar age as the other superstars. Kyrie, Harden, Curry. I think he has about 4-5 years of prime play.

However, I am not sure how much I would part with.

You think this why? The ONE story you heard repeated due to a tweet?

Kidd does not want to be in a position where if he is hired it is perceived that it is only due to the franchise players' demand. He is also in a good place with the Lakers organization. Maybe he sees a future as the Lakers head coach. Which is a higher profiled and more attractive job for a guy like Kidd.

Umm nah. Dillard is probably the best pressure shot-maker in the league. He has the kind of game that will not be limited by being 30 to 34. He has played in and started EVERY game since being in the league so very little if any injury concern. Guy is a stud.

And NO, Obi and picks won't get you his game-used uniform. Maybe we throw in your boy Frankie and get the deal done.

Oh I'm sure Portland would go straight up, Lillard for Frankie. LOL. Might even throw some picks our way. Frankie's young.

Brah... he just needs the right coach, team, universe. Every coach he has played for has ruined his chances at fame. Bet you he can throw a football over them mountains.

But seriously, they should have given Frank a shot against Trae.

If Lillard said he would stay if Kidd got the job, and Kidd still doesn't even interview, it tells Lillard this probably isn't the best place to be. Kidd probably prefers the Boston job given his age and the age of the core there. Now anyone that accepts the Portland offer will essentially be viewed as the second choice. While Portland will say their search was wide open, they absolutely hire Kidd if he wants the job. There's just no reason not to if Lillard is pushing for him. Not a lot of obvious coaching candidates on the market (that can definitely change of course) and Kidd was the guy who stands out given his experience, respect from players, and age. Kidd isn't an ideal candidate for every job (like the Knicks last year) and we know he has his power-hungry tendencies, but he's as good a candidate there is on the market for teams with an opening right now. Lillard publicly pushing for him and him not even interviewing is a bad look for Portland.

Listening to the Lowe podcast, he suggested (if Sixers flame out), Dame for Ben Simmons and stuff, which would probably make a lot of sense for both teams if the Blazers can’t placate Dame this offseason. We can’t match that.

Our only hope is for Lillard to force a trade to us.

Dame is not the move for this team , we just got beat like a redheaded step child in the 1st round. Dame is a move you make when you are in position to compete for a chip. plus there is still the Nets with 3 legit superstars on their roster , then you get into what we would give up no fookin way. Sign Lonzo keep building our young players and hit on draft picks like they did with IQ , when the Nets get old and start fading (it will happen) we will be entering our teams prime if we play it right. Culture built we will be able to get a top tier player when the time is right.

Even then, what are you left with considering his outsized salary. Unless it's a completely lopsided trade for the Knicks, I just can't see how you build more than what Dame had in Portland (if you could even get to that level).
