Lonzo is better than any player the Knicks can potentially draft of this upcoming draft so these comments about not wanting to give up the 21' first rd draft pick for him is ludicrous.

The only pause I have with trading for him is that I don't believe he is the answer we need right now. To me, Randle has established himself as an "Alpha" NBA player and now he needs his "robin" ESPECIALLY come playoff time. I don't know if Lonzo Ball can be that.

Yeah ! Let's trade for Lonzo. But let's low ball these Pelicans. Not gonna give them a player, not gonna absorb Bledsoe, and of course we are not going to give them a first rounder. Let them trade Lonzo for some second rounders and non rotation players. Yes we are talking about trading for a starter who is a young promising future star.
Yeah, let's trade for a "young Jason Kidd". But noooo, let's not give up any assets. Good luck with that.

His likely value is Knox , Rivers and the lower of our 1st round pick and perhaps we eat Bledsoe’s deal. They waive Rivers.
For that we get Lonzo and he resigns.
I’m not endorsing that BTW.
The notion of NOla being already regretful about Steve adams and his two year extension might be over blown.
Yes I like Mitch. It don’t matter if I do or not. Question is can (Cap aside) does a Trade centric on Mitch for Adams swing more in our favor giving Nola some cap relief?
I’m not sure they are too far into this era to give up on him paired with Zion.
For that matter Not sure they really want to give up on Lonzo.

Lonzo doesn't have to fit the Robin or whatever role, he just has to make everyone better, and in doing so, you will certainly attract that Alpha or Robin in 2022 offseason very easily.

Luke Kennards is jut 24 and can shoot. Bear with me, his contract after this year is 12.7, 13.7, 14.7, 14.7. 46mm over the 4 years. Not really that crazy. Not saying a guy wit knee issues and out of the rotation for now a good thing. Kawahi has a player option for 36mm. They fail out of playoffs this year he is the kind of dude that might just up and walk. Not saying here. Stay with me, CLippers might ask him “If we do something this and this, and you approve, do you extend? Like trade Kennard and what ever it takes to get Lonzo. Then it becomes a different look for them to do something “Stupid”. If he gets all on he spectrum and stares you down do you flat out trade him and at least get something in return? If he would promise to resign with a new team or at least take his one year option it could be reasonably valuable to a team to pull a “Toronto”. I dont’ know what Kawahi thought of Doc but Harris/Maxy for him might help 76ers chances. Bring in Rivers via waivers.

I’m throwing **** out there, nothing more.

Key take away:
Lonzo is not the "key" point guard that's needed for this offense. He doesn't really create in the half court and that's probably the #1 thing we need. Lonzo is good in transition, but is that whow Thibs would use him? Sounds like a secondary or tertiary ball handler. Also, he's been extremely streaky to date.

Ok so what under 31 year old pg can we sign that will allow us the ability to team Randle with a all star?

Or do we trade 3 picks this year and Robinson to move up to get suggs?

What’s the plan since Lonzo is useless in a half court and inconsistent lol

We can just draft a rookie pg in the late 20s and hope for the best lol?

Our starters are half court guys.

Ball would be better off with iq off the bench according to this scouting report.

But of course he and his father would hate that lol

I thought it was set in stone that the Knicks would get the top pick and draft Cade?

In a traditional offense, yes, you want your pg to create for others. However, Thibs essentially has us playing Randle-ball. Is that because Randle is that much better a playmaker than the pg's we have? perhaps. Would Thibs make the adjustment if we get a better playmaker than Julius? Maybe.

Either way, the way the game is played today, the best players usually have the ball in their hands more times than not. Ball's ability to knock down the 3 is a much better fit next to Randle than elf is. Ball is also a ball mover which we do not have many of on this team. Lack of paint touches is a concern with Ball, but his ability to push the tempo is intriguing.

I actually think it's okay he's not the key point guard considering Thibs likes to use Randle and RJ as ball handlers. I understand the concern about the half court, but think Lonzo would help pick up the slow pace we play at. Lonzo is shooting well enough to play in the half court, although you're right about him being streaky historically.

I’m confused lol

I wouldn’t make any moves. let the pelicans and the market decide his value.

Unless we are looking for marquee star names for nyc, Let’s go dumpster diving and look hard in the draft for a functional pg lol idk

Don't get me wrong. I think Ball is a good player. But at $20M+, I'd want a guy who provides a little bit more. They blow that cap space on Ball and they're still left with holes at the PG position. Ball isn't Mr. Right, more like Mr. right now.

intriguing is spot on. To me thats not enough to trade assets for him AND have to up and pay him. I am not even sure a big contract to get him here makes sense to challenge NOP to not match.

We are a lot like Denver... we have a fantastic emerging PG and its Julius Randle. He continues to show he deserves to run the offense through him because he really moves the ball and when he doesnt he breaks down the D nicely in iso. The more I watch him the more he can be our Jokic. He's a load. He's so big and strong once he gets going he's so hard to manage.

Randle is 26 and will only look better with better players around him and MORE space to work with. Its why Rose looks good in the SL. We dont really need a playmaker. We need a scorer. I still think adding a veteran scorer like Lowry/Connely or Demar and just drafting the best 3 guys we can get is the way to go. Come back with same crew. Bring back Rose/Noel, sign a veteran scorer and draft the 3 BPAs. If Bullock/Frank are available cheap great. Build a winning core loaded with young player other teams are dying to poach.

LOL we should run the triangle!

I'm definitely still for the Lonzo move, but my main concern with his game is his inability to put put pressure going down hill. It really limits him in PnR but he's still young and becoming a better finisher is a skill that can be learned.

True, but I'd rather that he learn it first and gets paid the big $$$ later.

Well chronicled my ass. They had Chris Paul up until a couple years ago. Well chronicled is 20 years without a real point guard!
