7 points 2 assists and solid D off the bench

Not gonna happen but Thibs should sub Frank in with Payton in the rotation.

I see a lot of outrage in this thread. “Fire his agent” or “Demand a trade”. All I hear back from players is that the coaching staff is very clear and upfront with the players. That said, they aren’t revealing what the coaches say specifically.

Looking at Ntlikina, kid looked like he was ready to come off that bench and seized that opportunity. He looked well coached and prepared. And he looked happy. I’d make a QO on that kid but try and lock him up with a longer term deal less than the QO.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Hustle Stats.

In case you missed it, the NBA has recently officially started tracking 5 hustle stats which “evaluates player performance that affects outcomes but can’t be found in traditional box-scores.” They are:

Contested Shots
Charges Drawn
Deflections
Loose Balls Recovered
Screen Assists- (the only offensive category- “a screen that directly leads to a basket by the player who received the screen.”)

last night will really help Frank's chances to get minutes. The way he defended the floor was great. You almost forget how long he is.

I love Frank's game and have always loved Frank's game. You saw it on display last night.

Between RJ's growing pains, Burk's streaky game, Bullocks late game blunders and Knox playing his way out of the rotation feels like there are chances at the 2/3 for Frank to get minutes. For phucks sakes just stay healthy kid!

those are fantastic. Taj was so clutch last night there. His screens were great and Burks was knocking them down like he was shooting alone in a gym

I know it’s one game, but it was a mistake not picking up his option.

He will be a good player for a long time in this league.

Hopefully they can lock him in to a reasonable deal.

what option? Frank is in year 4 of his rookie contract. There is no more option.

Frank's QO is $8.3mm next year. If the Knicks want to keep him they offer that at the end of the season. It mean's he's either back next year for that or we can match any FA offers he gets

So I'm locked in on the possible RJ = Jimmy Butler, what's your Frank ceiling target?

Twice he covered Buddy and caused Fox to turn the ball over. Not a stat but it mattered.
The defense/turnovers he contributes to creates a faster pace. Starting line up looked sloth like compared to the trio that was Obi-IQ-Frank.
Nalod didn’t predict this yesterday before the game but just mentioned it as a possibility he’d get the call over Rivers. This was only his 5th game of the season! We treated him like there was no bump in his game. Game three he was 4-4 from 3pt and the defense is always there. Physically he looked bigger then I recall.
Small samples true and consistency has yet to be demonstrated but if anything it validates his talent to some extend (at least to us) and perhaps invigorates a trade scenario where he is a valued asset if we do a deal.
Bottom line is when he is on the court he fills up the passing lanes and makes stops. Offensively he moves the ball fast.
There was a nice chemistry with IQ who is a shoot first guard.
Frank fits a puzzle. Is it our puzzle? That I can’t tell or pretend to.
All I know was that was a fun game to watch! Rose started hot, IQ in the middle and then Burks finished it. Frank was not the star. I’d like to this more regardless of Payton injury. Knicks have to move to win every game. I get that. We don’t know what they are planning with Elf. He is a free agent as well and deserves more than his 4.8mm even as a sub. Frank is a RFA which gives us the option. More important to HIM is to get a commitment not just of money but a role on a team.

If he fills out I see hm as a Igudala type player. Iggy has had some big contracts and not sure he was that kind of “star” but he just wins by doing a lot of things. Frank does this. Default to “he is just 22”. That he was drafted too young is a fair statement. Question is not what has been, but what can be? Groin? Not this year, it was a knee. Is this indicative of the future or was his body not mature to be a pro player in the best league on the planet? Good questions. He is here and now. We have draft picks and we are coming to a cross road. What is to become of our “Smokes”?

Stay tuned........

Tony Allen/Bruce Bowen

those are fantastic players who were key parts of winning teams.

Marcus Smart/Tayshaun Prince/Shane Battier combo

Backup PG who slides to SF. Doesnt always fill the stat sheet but hits big shots and makes winning plays. Swiss army role player.

But none of that matters if he cant stay on the floor. There's no way Frank doesnt get some more minutes. Will THIS be the year he gets healthy?

You just need someone that can make other guards work. Young, Dame, Irving, Curry, Luka very few guys can get up in their faces. Frank at 20 minutes a night will be a real positive for this team.

Hopefully they can move Payton to a contender or playoff team that needs some rotation help. Would be fun to see a Rose, IQ, Frank get all the minutes at the guard position.

Payton’s role In my mind was to be a back up. He slid from the end of the bench last year when smith and Frank failed to stay healthy. That was like Game one? Rivers just looked lost after a hot start. Dude was making errors not becoming to a fundamentally sound vet. dude was like talking to himself. His game did the talking. Maybe he has a health/injury issue. we’ll do right by him. Professional courtesy to hm and his pops.

I have him at Patrick Beverley as most likely comp. There are very few guards with his wingspan so he could surpass that comp as a wing defender.

Frank is smooth offense and wingspan can get his shot off against most guards/small forwards.
Question is not what has he been, but what to become. Stronger, more confident, and know his role. Is it as a PG, Combo or Sf?
I don’t know.
