This guy looks like a lottery talent.

I was depressed when we drafted Bolmoro, but relieved when we traded him for Quickley- more excited about him than Toppin, though I’m terrible at evaluating talent!

Flip 27-39 to 23 only to flip it back for 25 33 then reach? Wtf?

Think we did the first trade because either we thought we needed 23 to move up to draft Toppin, or to take Maxey. Once Maxey had gone, we traded down to pick up our Quickely. Why take the risk of trading even further back if he was our guy?

If you look at his highlights his shooting form looks really good and he isn’t just a catch and shoot guy. He can create his own shot, shoot off the dribble etc

This is a really interesting situation. Most are hating this pick as a reach for an undersized shooting guard when the Knicks could’ve picked a more fitting PG.

But people that seem to have done their homework with him note that he is actually a PG, a pass-first PG that changed his game for a program well known for asking players to do that in order to win but that see such players surprise everyone when they are unleashed on the next level. And it has also been noted that the Knicks researched and interviewed Quickley more than anyone else. And the fact that he also brings shooting and defense is exciting.

It seems like we had an excellent draft of this is true. A possible star at PF and a possible floor general with shooting at PG. Hoping that is the case.

This kid has potential. The more i look at film of him and read articles, the more I like the pick. This kid could be a starting pg for us in a year if his PNR passing proves adequate. He is a solid defender and a lights out shooter, and he has solid height and great length. He and Frank make our pg defense very solid. Great pick up.

Despite his name, his release isn't that quick, so i don't see him being Booker or Ben Gordon. But unlike our current roster of pgs he will nail the open shot. He will contribute to winning. And he strikes me as smart enough to draw contact and use his fantastic FT shooting to his advantage

A couple things about Quickley; He was who I felt we may just draft at 27 all along if no one else fell. To me Terry and Bane fell, and one should have been selected, but Quickley at 25 isn't a reach if you believe in the shooting and enough on the defensive side to be a quality role player.

The likelihood is, Quickley will be a role player/1st guard off the bench who can slide between guard positions, and his ceiling probably doesn't go beyond that, however if the Knicks believe in Barrett as a playmaking wing and somehow down the road end up with another playmaking wing (Oladipo or LaVine for example) I can see Quickley having the upside as the type of starting PG that you pair with playmaking wings. Someone who plays that Patrick Beverley/George Hill-type role. That's with the direction of the team going a very specific way. Either way, we needed shooting and we got shooting.

Yeah he doesn't have that type of upside. He reminds a little of George Hill right now to me.

good thought. i can see him starting immediately assuming Thibs is thinking offense will run through RJ at 2. He's smart, willing passer, and can create more space for RJ et al.

that said, i expect the knicks will target a vet pg in FA or trading.

If they wanted Quickley that bad they could’ve held tight at 23. Moving back again left open the door for him to be taken at 23-24.
I don’t see any draft where u move pick 33 for a future 2. Pick 33 is a great pick. Even if it’s d league it’s worth it all day.

Time for Jared Harper and Lamar peters to fight it out for a spot as our lead minor league pg. someone has to go.

Elfrid Payton vs dsj. Keep or go?

He looks pretty damn solid, his IQ is way higher then our last 3 lottery picks. If you look at this break down, you have to marvel at how he seems to get wide open, he has great awareness.

check out the notes

pure speculation but i think at 23 they thought they had a shot at Anthony or Maxey. they got scooped on both and traded because because no one was taking Quickley before 25

as it stands moving 33 makes no sense. hoping more comes to light on that

I'm reading that they didn't really want anyone other than Vernon Carey. So I think this may have just been away to get another pick when they might want someone, as opposed to just taking a flyer on someone just to cut them after the year is up

Time for Dotson to step up to the next level in rotation player land if we pick up his contract.

He should be able to be similar to bane. Bane is better shooter I think.

Quikley was my second round pick before the draft. I think he fits in based on the nightly match up. Sometimes we may need a pg to actually make a shot some nights and spread the floor. lol (insert quikley)

I would imagine we are signings vet starting pg

So Frank quickley dsj backup playing pg sg sf. Depends on the matchups

understood. but i can't believe that was the best we could do then. That's a very valuable slot with all sorts of NBA players being found in that vicinity. So even if they wanted out, very surprised if the 2023 of unknown slot is the best they could do. i don't know the rules of what needs to be announced on draft night but based on logic i have to imagine there's more to this story
