Isiah is an obvious upgrade, but it still does not give him free passes to be an Azzhole form time to time.

The Kool aid does not stain everything.

You're right but at the same time I think this is such a non-story. We're only obsessing over it because the freaking season hasn't started yet. This man has brought us Marbury, Crawford, TThomas, Mohammed and Ariza, and he's shipped Eisley, Weatherspoon, McDyess, Harrington and soon Anderson out on their sorry asses. He's accumulated a boatload of free passes!

I like the job Isiah has done so far and I'm generally happy with the direction the team is headed. But every single player or coach that was dumped here, he burned bridges with, and at some point that kind of behavior will come back to bite you.

At the same time I don't think speaking his mind so openly helps Shandon.

I would have been happier if he dealed with those things a little better too, but I guess that's the way it goes.

Just remind me to never piss of Isiah.

I really don't give care what Shandon says. He is overpaid and underperforming. Time to go. See ya.

Do we always need to revert to Layden when we need to feel better about things. We are so far past that era.

Nolad, you talking? You bring up Layden in 60% of your posts. I even asked you one time before "do u have to mention Layden in every post?" Layden has become the punchline to some of the jokes around here. But you say in every other post "Layden did what he did and now Isiah has the go ahead to spend Dolan's money....." blah blah blah. We get the point! lol

No disrespect.

Very sharp observation, Thelonius. If you care to get a better understanding of that phenomenon, read the archives from about a year ago. Back then, in the Dark Ages of the LayDown regime, is when it all started.

The names have changed, but the game remains the same...
Ain't that right, Nedyal?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

My only response to the Layden thing is I have not bought it up in a long time, but will respond to when it is. Check it out on this thread at least.

My official response to anything Layden is that the era is over and using it as the bench mark short changes alot. It was a low point, so just about anything was better. Using what Layden did as "par" makes anything Isiah does better. We can still expect a very high level and can push Isiah to represent the team with a little more while in persuit of the greatness we all seek.

NO disrespect taken, I empathize moving forward mostly. My former signiture of "Layden sucked, get over it" was a message in that vain.

Hardcore, I have mentioned I was Nedyal. Nolad is equally as werid

It is creating a culture of win at all costs. Sometimes people will get hurt and treated poorly. Anderson has not produced in NY. He is a LLE type player and not a $7M per player.

IT is aharsh, no doubt, but watching Anderson is just as harsh for the money he makes.

Look how nice Baker is being treated?

Haha I knew it was you Nedyal! I thought the style of your posts were very unique on nykbball and they continue to be so here.

I changed my signature name When Laydog got fired. Dolan was the object of Evil then, so I just took the same approach. Actually Dolan has been funny, said the other day: "he would rather pay out salaries than to his ex-wife!" I always contend that Dolan strong armed Layden into confusion, but layden was not strong enough, nor commanded the respect to stand ground against Dolan whom wanted to win, spend and cut salary all at the same time. Thats my take, its over and maybe I need to change my name soon.

I argue sometimes with Dudes Overdosing on the kool Aide, but mostly get along. The guys here are more knowlegable and the modaraters do a good job keeping things going. I went to one site and the moderaters just were brutal on anyone whom they did not agree with. It was funny at first, but they ran most away as they jsut never let up or could soak in any other view. I guess you have been around here long enough to see it.

The other site had no humor at all. They just so intense sometimes, where here you got enough guys who say some funny things. This is how it should be, entertainment and fun chating about the knicks!

And lastly, isn't the phrase "a cancer" VERY COMMON IN THE NBA? Is it just me? I hear that all the time. As a matter of fact I say it all of the time about certain players (TMac for instance). The papers quoted GM's saying that Sprewell was a "cancer" a few times. It's one of the most used phrases in the league. How does Shandon arrive at "I don't appreciate him using the term Cancer because my father died of cancer"? He's saying that as if it's not a common thing to say in this business. I don't understand.

Thelonius, my wife has cancer. I wouldn't appreciate somebody using the word on me either. It's a matter of sensitivity, that's all. It's like those blonde jokes... Hey, I'm cool.

Yeah, the nykbball board got kind of out of hand. And the owners of ALL boards and forums of any kind really need to think wisely about giving moderation powers to some. From personal experience, I know that just giving away powers to friends is a great way to watch power abuse problems arise. I have found this board to be excellent overall in terms of maintaining a friendly atmosphere for all to post.

I'm sorry about your wife. I wish her (and you) nothing but good results as you guys deal with that. Cancer has reeked havoc on my family to say the least. I also have people in my fam. who actually beat that nasty beast.

With that said, Isiah "alledgedly" calling Shandon a cancer....which actually was NOT a direct quote. It's hearsay, so it possibily wasn't said to start with. But at any rate, unfortunately that will not be the last time we'll hear that word used in basketball. My point was that it's been used for years and years and will continue to be used. Even if someone did say that about Shandon, it has nothing to do with his mother (RIP). I'm sure the people who called Spree a cancer (also J.R. Rider and countless other NBA players) have had no idea what those guys' family medical history is.

Spree was like stepping in Doggy Doo DOO. It smells and you can't wait to get it off your shoe. Even if you love the dog!

It's alright Thelonius. It reads like Isiah Thomas can be a jerk sometimes. He knows where it hits home and uses that to push somebody out. I know I said I admire him as an executive but on the other hand, I wouldn't want him to be my boss.

funny how stories change when you go from the Post's "league source" to actually asking a player on media day. When Shandon was asked about the whole thing this is what came out:

Thomas did say he has been trying to trade Anderson, and will continue to try to do so. Anderson said he has had no personal contact with the GM and was never told not to report to camp.

Wow... Berman's league sources are so solid.
