Seems like we're at a real crossroads - we could double down on rebuilding via the draft, hire Atkinson and the raptors gm, or we could trade for cp3, sign melo and sign a different kind of coach than Atkinson. I'd love the former, but suspect the latter

The Knicks offering Kenny Atkinson the Head Coach Job should be a no brainer. Whether he accepts it, that’s unknown. I certainly wouldn’t be going after Mark Jackson with Kenny Atkinson available.
You know I gonna spin wit it

Would like to see Miller get a full season under his belt. Wouldnt be opposed to Atkinson. Does seem like something of a lateral move. Would rather go for continuity with Miller. Seems to have the respect of the players, and they have been putting in the effort. Its been mostly about a talent deficit (not a coaching deficit) since Miller took over.

Wow...that locker room situation is worse than I thought. Can't wait until First Take invites Atkinson for an interview.

Hiring this guy is no brainer. Doubt it'll happen, not because it is the Knicks, but because it is too perfect and that stuff never seems to play out. But cant deny literally every piece lines up that Atkinson should be hired.

Wondering where the outrage in the coaching community is. Pop, Kerr and Carlisle were very outspoken when a 4-18 coach was fired.

Id get it if it were Irving or Durant, but 30 something Jordan? Really? He has that much clout. Cant imagine why at this point in his career. I guess the next coach knows not to bench Jordan, ever, lol. Agree with those who say its probably related to Irving or Durant. Doubt mgmt would do it without them on board.

Soooooooo glad we didn’t sign Irving. What a $hit$how.

Yep, not taking bets on how long Kyrie/KD will last. Durant thought Westbrook was a handful..

Atkinson would be perfect for our young roster. It’d be curious if the Knicks would be interested in bringing him in as a player dev coach/consultant for the remainder of the year... sort of like a trial run.

Funny, we point and laugh at Nets as if we did not fire our coach, hire an interim and likely replace him!
Kyrie would have fit right in! At the end of the day we’d till have two premium top tier players coming in next season.
Do I count my blessings we did not sign those two guys? Not really. I’m glad we didn’t, but At 19 wins I’m not entirely impressed with our present or future. I’m hopeful. Despondent? Nope, its entertainment.

ATkinson is a head coach and will be again. Bring him in undercuts Miller and the current staff who I believe are doing an ok job. Let the man chill out, spend time with his family, let his agent do his thing. I’m sure he gets paid until he gets another gig so he could take a year off at least if he is burnt out. CAA client or not he is either now on our radar or not. We need a GM too. He should not take the gig until he knows who the GM will be.
Tsai took over control of the nets in August of 2019. OWNERS MATTER MORE THAN GM’S!!! IF AN OWNER TELLS HIS PEOPLE TO DO SOMETHING THEY WORK FOR HIM. So the world that Sean Marks was hired into is not the same. Maybe Sean is out the door after the season as well. He was hired by the Russian and was very adamant about being given time to rebuild. He did a great job and had the autonomy to do his thing. New owner, new rules.
Maybe its time for Marks to walk? Not saying he gets the same circumstances anywhere else as there are only 30 of these jobs!

Was just messing around yesterday when I said Tyrone Lue but thats the rumor. THe early season thing with Kyrie and his habits vs the installed culture/discipline thing seems to be the cause. This is really on the owner who had a good thing then gets greedy. So basically you build out this nice culture to attract free agents, then you blow it up? Can’t say this is on Durant who came from OKC and GSW and saw what set cultures are like. Kyrie comes from being the man in Clev. Gives it up to Lebron and they win, and he than wants his “Own team”. Gets it in Boston but its not really his. Now in BKN he wants to mold it. First off he is not Lebron who might be a diva act, but say what you want about him.......LEbron actually delivers! Kyrie is a hell fo a player but dude is brain dead.
Too early to have coaches chime in on ATkinsons firing as its just 24 hours. I suppose we need a bad guy on the blame game so it will be Kyrie. Maybe Durant was cool with it, who knows. Tsai paid a boatload for his two stars. Atkinson is complicit here too as he did not sign up to starphuch with Kyrie. He knows it won’t work. Maybe Blatt issue was not just with Lebron as often was depicted.

On paper Atkinson is the guy for us if we are in the rebuilding culture etc mode. Does not mean he lasts forever here either. For all we know rose might be on orders from Dolan to pull an “Isiah” and load up for the short term.
