I'm coming out of retirement for his one lol

This is just dumb. Regardless of what Spike did or said the org should have just shut the fck up ate their ego and apologized.

Spike pays 300k for the seats and he should always be right.

No amount of PR hiring will save you if you don't get how this is a bad look from race relations perspective - especially when you are already on thin ice with a "blues" band.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I think if you paid Martin $215k a year to come watch the game on his couch for the past 28 years and came to the back door and his son let you in, you might be a bit pissed if Martin came in and told you that you need to go back outside and go around to front door (and oh since his son already scanned your ticket, you might be allowed in through the front door).

Dude's were doing their job, the owner personally came down to explain the situation, should be the end. The rest is just two drama queens going off. I'm not a Dolan apologist and he screwed this up from a PR perspective. Big Time! But Spike seems put of whack here. No one told him to go to the back of the bus. He actually compared this to the Oakley situation. No, Spike doesn't come off as a victim. He comes off as another clown at the rodeo.

I think your bit too harsh, people are going to make a big deal because it's Dolan and he has a history of treating fans and former players like trash .

This could have happen in Charlotte and no one cares (its an isolated incident) but with DOLAN and the way he treats the media, they will be quick to make this into a big story..HEY WORLD DOLAN IS AT IT AGAIN, THIS TIME TO A POPULAR FAN WHO HAS SUPPORTED THE TEAM FOR 50+ YRS...

I get it. Dolan is a clown. Does that mean you have to sink to his level and join the media circus? The security guards are speaking calmly and Spike is telling, going on about being cuffed like Oakley. I'm like chill eff out dude.

Dude I personally know spike, my aunt lived next door to him (before he was famous), I worked in his store in brooklyn in the 90;s, I have been to his house parties, BBQ's, he's given me and my boy (who used to drive for him)tickets to games (not the floor seats) I worked as a P A on the set of Clockers.

I been around him long enough to know that if you ever get in a debate with spike he's going to raised the volume, it could be over anything as simple as, what's better Coke or Pepsi. Thats no act, that's his personality..loud and extra (sometimes)..

I can't believe this made more press than the signing of ROSE...

I think Spike just having fun in his own way.
I am sure he is not happy with Fiz and Mills firing and I am not sure Leon is his man.
He prob was on the age already and then MSG bureaucrats gave him a hard time by not recognizing his big persona.
The culture of MSG is still what it was. To change it will take considerable time even if anyone will really try to do this.
Bbal is not regular people game already for a long while. Its not like hockey, baseball, or football which are regular folks sports.
NBA is a show where personas like Spike have sometimes bigger role that star players.
And show must go on!!!

I like Spike. Seems childish to take the whole thing public as he has. Seems like he loves the attention? Good for his brand? Get a discount on the ticket for next year? Sell a movie? Im not saying he is right or wrong, the whole things just reeks of weirdness. Yeah, I think once that video made him look bad, knicks got defensive. Spike as you say is combative by nature so he sees "Laughable" and takes it badly. Knicks either meant "laughable" as to the public reaction or they blew it with their response.

I haven't been this excited about the Knicks in a long time. I had stopped watching games in their entirety in early January. That is really early for me. Last nights win, the win against the Bulls and the Rose signing brought back my passion. I don't care who is right on this issue. It means nothing to me. But I do wish the talk was about Rose, Barrett, Frank and Mitch today. Yesterday was a great day for the Knicks.

Saw the game in Charlotte last week and missed the next games until last night. Watched the second half.
games of late have been lethargic and while I like guy guys Im rooting for the yoot to not just contribute, but rooting for their success!!!!
I get frustration over Knox. I don't want him banished, I want him to succeed! I don't slam Dennis, I want him to kill it!!!!
The game in charlotte was sad. RJ had a bad one and knox looked dejected . Weird his pops came out a few days later and kind of pumped it up. Last night the team had fight and the garden rocked.
I don't care what Dolan does and he is known to take very care of the players. Thats all that matters.
Nobody can tell me Nobody will come or knicks will never be relevant. Nobody knows the future.
Until then I might not watch every game, but im keeping an eye on things. Knicks are my team. Was before way before Dolan.

after reading your knowledge of Spike and seeing the attached clip it seems like he is making a real big deal over it. He seems more upset losiong his priviledge to get in the areana via the employee entrance. A high profile guy like Spike might need to have a more personalized approach. Somtiems divas need a little coddling and MSG should cater to some of these patrons who are high paying and high exposure and give them concierge type service. Knicks need to do better and Spike is way out on this.

Spike Lee is a dummy and egotistical. There's a VIP entrance; that's the one and only rational answer for the 300k privilege argument. Personally if he boycotts the Knicks for the rest of his life I'll be happier for it. Hopefully he'll switch teams to the Nets. Spike should have taken the high road; he didn't

The Knicks organization is dumb and egotistical. Their PR department should be fired. Take the high road instead of that dumb release just further escalating the situation. Simply apologize for an unfortunate misunderstanding/miscommunication about a change in policy. Also their security folks are dumb. they should have let Spike through advising him of the new policy and asking that henceforth he take the VIP entrance -- along with all of the other celebrities.

I agree with Crush (above). We should be pivoting to some of the positive developments

Everyone is at fault here but who ever is running the PR department should really consider changing jobs. They did the opposite of what Public Relations is suppose to be doing.

Spike using the employee entrance is good for business. You give special perks to the high paying customers. I mean Checketts probably gave him that perk that doesn't hurt anybody. Taking that away because Spike speaks his mind about his beloved team is just juvenile.

However, Spike ranting about it doesn't help any. I am not sure how else he could have handled this but I don't think this was the way.

Dolan is just an ass.

Kellerman is just an *******. He makes Screamin A tolerable now.

Spike Lee should have been banned in '95 after the Reggie Miller debacle in Game 1. Good riddance. And Dolan is such a moron for calling it laughable. He probably wrote it himself. You're slippin' Jimmy. You forgot to call him an alcoholic too. Here's laughin' at you Dolan.

This is the last thing I am going to say about this. Why did they let Spike in if he was using the wrong entrance? This looks like a pure Dolan setup where he had people looking for Spike, ready to demand he leave and try to come back through another entrance. It was a petty payback move because I guess Spike was not giving the glowing reviews that Dolan expects. Just foolishness. So I wholly disagree with the posters talking about spike needed to use another entrance. You are missing the point and what was really going on. This a pure silly power play put on by Dolan to **** with Spike for the hell of it. And instead of these idiots just letting it go, they put out that stupid public statement in the world blaming Lee, when all they had to do was say nothing and it would have gone away. Unless Leon Rose gets control of the PR arm of the Knicks, nothing is going to change. Dolan needs to be removed from any aspect of the team.

I think Dolan sucks as much as the next guy but Spike is a clown here. He just got mad that he has to use a regular entrance like everyone else, and then was caught lying about shaking Dolan's hand.

Dolan actually wins this one. Good bye clown Spike no one cares about you.

Dolan is an idiot 100% of the time and we all accept this to be true. We don't bat an eyelash when stuff like this happens anymore because that's who he is. He is who we thought he was. That's Dolan. Zero multiplied by 3 billion is still zero.

Spike Lee in his growing irrelevance had a somewhat ok rep. People had begun to forget about his costing us a playoff game. But now Spike Lee's rep takes a huge hit. He is being used by the bristol mafia on ESPN ( a new england biased network ) to cash in on Knicks clicks. He is a tool for clicks right now. Spike Lee gains nothing from this. Dolan gains nothing but he already was a nothing.

Spike Lee comes out of this worse off.

I used to think this. But what if the PR staff is trying to do its job and the boss just isn't listening? At the same time, you'd think they could find a way to craft that statement better. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure this probably wasn't vetted by a professional before it was released. I think Dolan heard about the interview, got triggered and rambled off a statement from his secretary. With security and health concerns escalated now, it really isn't surprising that their would be a change. Did Spike really not know? Is Dolan making it up? Who knows? But this has become a bigger issue than it should be. Now I have to hear clueless rants from people who know nothing about the Knicks and probably wouldn't be able to spot Spike in a crowd without a Knicks hat.
