The roster Mills/Perry have boasted about having a core to build around, 3 of the main 4 assets have been brought in through Gaines scouting.
Willy Hernangomez.
Kristaps Porzingis.
Frank Ntilikina.

So I don't see how if they truly believe they have a nice young core with adding THj to the mix. If they truly believe that, then why would they let go of the guy who is the primary reason Phil Jackson drafted those players?

Mills may be putting a positive spin on things, but from his press conference he seems to be talking about the same things Phil Jackson and Gaines were doing. Young, athletic, long (wingspan) skill players. This is something I think Gaines will give them great feedback on. The big difference is I don't think Gaines' opinion will hold as much weight without Phil in charge.

He might actually have more weight?
This is on Perry now. Does Perry value Gaines as a scout? Does Perry value the group input? We have others on the staff that give input.
As for Rambis and Jeff its absolutely important they get along. Phil has to know this so when he asked Jeff about it, and Jeff was cool with it, then that's all we go on.
Some of us put our own personal spin as we see it. Like "Rambis is Phils henchman" or, "how can rambis be effective after being passed over for the head coaching job". Really most of us might feel that way and we project our own feelings on it. Fact is, Rambis gets paid nice for the gig, has a contract, and now has to be evaluated by Perry.

What we don't know:

Does mills like Jeff? There is "Tolerance" or does he believe in him?
Does Perry LIke Jeff? Does Perry Like Rambis? If Rambis is the cause of KP's problems is it KP's immaturity to deal with it, or is Rambis out of line?
Media can talk about KP leaving but one injury could cost him tens of millions of dollars!!!!! Bird rights matter too!!! Its in everyones best interest to make this a good environment.
Buy the time KP is ready to leave he could be surrounded by young talented players and knicks ready to be very good.
Jeff was planning to visit Europe and see KP play. Maybe Perry goes and they sit down then. Why rush it? Both sides are posturing.
And the notion that Willy would leave with KP is silly. Willy has to consider his own career and multigenerational wealth, not just be a friend.

Gaines should be considered untouchable. He brought us our next Willis Reed (KP), our next Debusshere (Willy), and our next Clyde (Ntilikina). Once we get our next Earl The Pearl (Doncic), the league in trouble. Our length, size, athleticism, high IQ playmaking, unselfishness and shooting at all positions is going to give teams fits.
I bleed orange and blue for life.
